World Rally Championship – Twelve New Previews

Black Bean Games has released new preview material of their upcoming World Rally Championship title for the PC and gaming consoles, showing us twelve new screenshots of the WRC cars in action.

The shots include both the Citroen C4 WRC and the Ford Focus WRC on gravel stages.

Developed by Milestone, World Rally Championship will be bringing all the action of the WRC to the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC. The game will feature all 13 rally events from the 2010 schedule and extensive online features as players will be able to compete against the real WRC stars thanks to iOpener’s GPS technology. World Rally Championship is planned to be released in September 2010.

I think I need glasses, all these images are out of focus.

    inb4 physics suck.

    where did the quality go?

I want to be optimistic on this one but its just not possible. Graphically it looks 5 years old and Milestone’s previous (SuperJoke V8) physic attempts are just horrid. Sorry can’t be optimistic on this one.

iopener enabled means jack shit here. They can fudge anything to make it seem like your matching the real times. I feel sorry for the iopener guys actually. I was hoping to see them in a game from an established quality developer.

Of course I hope i’m proved wrong 😉

the graphics look incredibly dated 🙁

Because i think these just beta or alfa pictures. or not xD

    why am i not excited…?

someone needs to tell Milestone its now the year of our lord, 2010! agree with everyone else, the screenies are horrid, and considering what a big heap of steaming pooh that was SBK09, I don’t think this will be any better.

WRC will regret selling the licence to them cos it will do nothing to glorify modern rallying. Its need to be Dirt2 graphics with RBR Physics.

    BAD :weird:

Guys, I just recently got the WRC 2007 mod for Rally Trophy. Features 22 cars spanning the WRC from 1997 (Ford Escort?) to 2007 (Peugeot 306, 05 Subaru WRC, 07 Focus). The game is ancient but the mod is pretty new (came out late 07).

Basically, it doesn’t have the best graphics, but since the stages are designed for much slower cars, rocketing through some of the more challenging stages in a car that is faster than the fastest car in the original game can create some pretty hair raising moments.

Rally Trophy came out in 02. The physics aren’t great by todays standards and the graphics, save for the WRC Mod models, aren’t even close to being acceptable. However, it’s the fun factor that counts. I’ve been having a blast over the few days going through the stages over twice as fast as what was expected when the game first came out. Its pretty scary to hit 130, almost 140 mph on tracks where your top speed was usually around 80 or 90 before.

My point is this: As long as the tracks are challenging, the physics compliment the tracks, then we have no reason to be worried. Rally Trophy’s physics suck compared to whats out there today, but as long as the game can replicate the “OH SHIT” feeling of driving a car much too fast on a small, unforgiving road is really all that matters.

    Nothing special, we’ll see.

  • Uff

A part for the bad quality these screens are saved in, the rest looks promising, from the reflection on the car to the model themselves. I do prefer how WRC looks compared to Superstars V8.
As for the iOpener thing, this game should NOT contain that feature: on our forum we were told (buy a guy who seems to be close to Milestone) that only next editions will have that feature.
We’ll have to wait for some more news.

Something that SBK09 definitely wasn’t. In the meantime they’ve released SBK X too, which is way better to drive even if not perfect.

WRC will regret selling the licence to them cos it will do nothing to glorify modern rallying. Its need to be Dirt2 graphics with RBR Physics.

Sure, so that they will end up in the same way SCi did: closing their studios because almost nobody bought the game. A really clever strategy, indeed.

krisby: +1 “Its need to be Dirt2 graphics with RBR Physics.” and maybe some detail from RBR.

Uff no one is going to buy a 2010 game looking like this, rbr with community updates looks better in screenshots and based on their previous games rbr will still have much better physics,
Compare the screen shots to that marketing video they showed a week or 2 ago ,im surprised they allowed them on the net at all.
Did anyone try their last game involving cars,Superstars V8 Next Challenge, you couldnt even configure a steering wheel, this company produces mediocre games at best and how they got the WRC license is beyond me.
PS just in case anyone jumps in and says its just about graphics to me the games that are permanently installed on my machine are RBR,GTR2,GT Legends,Rfactor and the Race series, luckily for me each looks better than this game, but im expecting GTR3 and Rfactor to look 10 times better and have great physics
also agree with krisby Dirt 2 graphics and effects wih RBR physics and mob ability

  • hoboracer

Wow, It looks like they added rally cars to HL Counter-Strike. I bet I could snipe the driver from the top of that pyramid! :happyevil:

  • zer0ryd3r

hm…….until someone makes a rally game for pc only, the true sim racers will continue to get shafted. It seems they gear them more towards the controller users. The graphics aren’t that great either. I’ll have to plug away with RSRBR 2010

  • Gulyo

wrc gonna be BIG SUXX, believe me … this is ridiculously crappy … unfortunately

RBR freshened physics + DIRT 2 Graphics = MAJOR WIN.
