Simbin Announces Zandvoort Licensing Agreement

Simbin has announced a new licensing agreement with Circuit Park Zandvoort as the Dutch track will be featured in an upcoming title.

Together with the announcement, the studio has released some stunning previews of Zandvoort, the only piece of information missing is what title the track is being created for as Simbin’s still talking about it as an “upcoming project”.

Opened in 1948, Circuit Park Zandvoort has hosted 30 editions of the Dutch Formula One Grand Prix, today’s layout is 4.18 kilometers long and consists of 11 turns.

Located in the near-beach dunes, the track is notorious for sand being blown on track. The layout is made up of slow and quick corners as well as many elevation changes that make Zandvoort a rather tricky place to drive. Even though Formula One is long gone, the track still hosts many major events, including DTM & WTCC touring car racing as well as an annual Formula 3 masters event.

That looks sexy. Love the track, too.

  • Gerhard Venter

Yep looks pretty good – the ambient lighting just needs a little bit of more yellowish tint in it 😉

  • Lachlan Salter

wow! That first, second and last shot looks far better than I expected from simbin, lets hope this is for gtr3

  • Juhan Voolaid

They nailed with the asphalt texture.

  • Richard Hessels

On every picture there are many things that are not right or even completely off.

I’m afraid this is going to be just shitty version as the previous their Race07 version.
I dont’s even see the piece of tarmac that connects the short layout of the track.
There is half round hangars in the infield are not there at all.Seat advertisment on the official tower that been removed many years ago.
Tarzanbocht soundwall is much too low.
Wrong placement of tree’s where there should be small bushes.Billboards at wrong positions, not even complaining about the fantasy add’s.It looks like they had a bunch of old photos they used for the Race07 version re-used.I’m glad they state it’s work in progress, as there is much to do.

      Good catch, hadn’t noticed that.

    • Lachlan Salter

I know this sound silly but you should tell them that, maybe they’ll listen and change the track, who knows

    • Boss Player

feel free to make your own sim and pay your own money for licences.

I don’t care if this is not Zandvoort 2012, it looks uber awesome anyway.

      • Richard Hessels

        I already did

  • Anthony Monteil

This was already discussed on Race Department, and as stated by SimBin’s Reference Manager, all the mentioned points were already sheduled for correction. Remember it’s only WIP ;))

  • Diego Colafabio

Wow, i really love these pictures. Great job guys!! really well done.

  • jswarthoff

looks too dark, like there is a sun eclipse.

  • Joeri Blootacker

    those shots look good !

  • Matt Orr

Is Zandvoort on a different planet? Because I’m 100% sure I’ve never seen anything in this world that looks anything even remotely similar.

Honestly Simbin, you had a good run. Call it now while you can be remembered for what you guys did – before Race. Back when you made good products.

I think that litlte sentence at the bottom at every shot is there for a reason 😉

      • Matt Orr

Even so, it’s literally all wrong. If you can’t even get your previews of a product you intend to sell to actually look decent and not like a CoD montage, then you aren’t at a stage to show previews. Low quality textures, terrible lighting, terrible sky and as others have pointed out, several inaccuracies.

So they basically have nothing, it all needs fixed. Then why bother showing what should certainly be removed? Here is a hint – it wont change much.

  • Kevin Brigden

The lighting is odd… kinda like looking through sun glasses. But nice looking work nonetheless.

  • Philip Samuelson

I really hope they remove all the stupid Simbin signage — Those types of things work in arcade games, but they just look tacky and unrealistic in sims.

Graphics need lots of imporvement. I am not seeing it. Project cars looks great although I am not sure about that game. Wish GTR3 looks good as that or at least pretty decent. This looks bad

  • Anonymous

Well Simbin is giving us something to tide us over as we wait for GTR3 release. RRRE being released was a good move to bide the dev team more time to work on GTR3. I’m okay with it.

  • Alan Dallas

For Work In Progress shots this looks like it’ll shape up to be pretty descent.

  • Steve Bell

I’ll be sticking with RF2. Simbin have a long history of leaving their games half finished. The AI in Race07 was shockingly bad and broken even after years of release. Same for GTR2 – their AI did’nt know how to brake and constantly slammed into the back of you – they have a track record (pun intended) for developing suicidal AI racers and tracks that their suicidal AI racers like to commit suicide on. They have good people working for them, very helpful and polite, but their products have been consistently faulty and buggy, so I wont be tempted.

  • Gniewko Ostrowski

I must admit, I love the lighting.

    GTR3 keep dreaming

    • Anonymous

I do, but I’m not holding my breath…

It’s not on Simbins pages, and the only thing that has been said about it from the horse’s mouth for the last year or more is:
Q: BGamer: What can you tell us about GTR 3?
A: Diego Sartori: At this time there is nothing I can say.

Look like it’s dead as dodo. My guess is that GTR3 became RRRE….
