Sim Racing Review – CSR Elite Long Term Review

The guys at SimRacingReview have added a new video to their Youtube channel, posting a long-term report on the Fanatec CSR Elite wheel.

Back in February, Sim Racing Review posted their first video review of the Fanatec CSR Elite wheel.

8 months later, Doug Meyer updates us on his long-term impressions with Fanatec’s wheel in the video report below.

Since when do these wheels have dual fans? I owned a CSW which is a higher end CSR-E and it only had one fan. Never owned a CSR-E, but I didn’t know they had dual fans. If they do, how come the CSW doesn’t come with dual fans?

Perhaps if the CSW had dual fans it wouldn’t have burned the motors up in 5 hours of use.

Both of them have dual fans, but one fan sucks cold air in from the left side and the other fan blows the air out on the right side. So the whole base works as a tunnel =)

No, they don’t. I owned a CSW and opened it up. I can tell you that one end has a screen that catches dust, the other end has the fan. There’s only one fan in the CSW.

I have both wheels (CSR Elite and CSW) and both have “only” one fan. It pushes quite a lot of air, so another one is not necessary.

    LOL, Really quality wheel,,,not
Its pretty good but honestly how can it be it lopose the grips after that shor time. IN 2-3 month you cannot even resell it to anone else.
    Really poor like the support.
Go for the T500rs, yes its not the same materials used , but its WAY more reliable.
I got mine since one year now and did some really heavy racing session like my friends also. Really nothing to complain.

I have had my CSR Elite wheel now since the release (~9 months) with heavy use and it has held up very well.

I agree the rubber cover on the rim is the main weak point of the whole package, it does peal of after some times use and does look shabby. Though the main grip points are alcantara and those hold up well.

I recently replaced my rim with an aftermarket 320mm OMP superleggera rim using the stock rims buttons and display etc. Its just perfect now!

Really hope that Fanatec releases a proper GT rim for the Elite as the base is really outstanding. There is a Formula rim being release soon which will solve the problem for those who prefer that shape.

I have been a Fanatec customer for 2-3 years and had my deal of issues with their products, the support used to be very slow but eventually solving the issues.

Though my contact with Fanatec support during 2012 has been only possitive and any issues ive had has been solved, quickly and satisfactory.

They even sent me a new circuit board as I managed to break a component on the original rim when working with my custom after market wheel project. Try to get that from Logitec or Thrustmaster…

Are you a fanatec sales man??? Lol man, everywhere on the real simracer forums they say fanatec has the worse support on planet earth, right after leo bodnar..lol
Just in our german forums they hype the wheel, but guess why they do that…
Inside simracing and many many other professional simracing sites use a t500, rf 2 founder Tim wheatley drives a t500,,, man there are tons of pro`s just prefer the t500. You have no clue.
