rFactor 2 – Formula R/C Released

Image Space Incorporated has released a quirky experimental new mod for their rFactor 2 simulation – A Formula R/C car.

Image Space Incorporated has released a quirky experimental new mod for their rFactor 2 simulation – A Formula R/C car.

Even though it sure smells like it, ISI promises that this is not a belated April Fools joke but rather a private fun project that has now been released for public usage.

The car is best used from external view on special tracks like you can check out in the shots below.

Known Issues

1) You may need to fully press the clutch or the engine won’t start in practice sessions / qual sessions
2) Steering wheel missing from onboard cams (it’s an R/C car, stop cheating!)
3) Fuel tank is too large, to accommodate our fuel pickup issues with build 156 and lower
4) AI jittery when their vehicles are stationary

This is just stupid. I like it!

I loved the RC mod for RF1, it wasn’t as realistic as Virtual RC, but it sure was fun.

This IS cool. Thanks ISI for releasing this. I love how they’re little formula cars 🙂

Seems like a nice idea , Downloaded mod (after clicking through 2 pages) , spent 10 minutes trying to find it in the mod manager due to already having 60+ mods , load up game cannot find it in the series after having to flick through them one by one.

Sums up why I stopped playing RF1 and why RF2 is a joke when it comes to its content system , for a game largely based around mods you would have thought the priority would be around having a well designed UI and mod system.

Of course this could just be an April fools prank hard to tell if its a joke or standard ISI release.

Aside from that A fully working RC game in one of the large sims be it RF2 , AC, Pcars would be fantastic and would make up for which costs a fortune to play.

You have good points. But isn’t this what separates the small time hobbyists from the die hard people? I mean i never believed in a mod manager as i manage the files myself, which i find more reliable.

I do not mean to insult you, but i have had friends in “live for speed” that said that RF1 would not survive because of this. Well it’s still there, because there are many people who know how to deal with it.
BUt sure, some people do not know how it works but still want to race, for them it is nasty.

could not have said it better myself, always somebody ready to bitch and complain about nothing. It is alot better than the first go around. It made it easier, I always try to remember that it is still in development so that keeps my gripes down alot.

RF1 was at a time where it was normal for mods to be a pain in the ass to install , Same was the case with OFP and ARMA , its now 2013 🙂 people are used to steam and not having to mess around with things so much.

RF1 once you got used to it was not that much of a pain to install content it was more a pain in finding the content , configuring the FFB and Real feel on a mod per mod basis was annoy though.

RF1 survived because it was the only real option for mods and lots of cars , and it was one of the few simulators with good mods that had decent grip and decent F1 cars , that’s why it stuck around despite the fact it was a real mess to use in many ways.

RF2’s mod manger in many ways is better than RF1 but its still a total mess and ignores the progress made by the games industry as a whole when it comes to content delivery.

Things should just work , sure a good % of people will put up with it and use it but most people will just say F this and as a result aside from specific league racing RF2 will likely mostly be dead online.

    • Marco Hooghuis

What’s that? Sorry, I couldn’t hear you through all the whining.

They give (for free) you a mod, and all you can do is complain about a silly non-issue?

  • Rob Herridge

oh this is irony, i have just been down the park, first time in ages, and bust open my battery bay on me Yokomo drift car 🙁 Guess i need more practice lol

  • Markus Ott

Now this is interesting. Obviously those are 1/5 scale cars. Over 10 years ago I was a FG factory driver when they were released to the market. Would be nice if they’d bring some of the most famous tracks for the mod like Bamberg or Lostallo.

  • Victor Harris Jr.

Is there a track that comes with the mod? I also can’t locate it in the mod list, but located the cars in the all cars and track list.

    • Hellracer Brasil

no track included, its left for …. the community to build.

Thats a shame, because the screenshot prooves that the devs played on ^park deck^ with cones !
