RF2Rift Oculus Rift Plugin – New Version Available

vittorio has released a new version of his RF2Rift Oculus Rift plugin for rFactor 2.

vittorio has released a new version of his RF2Rift Oculus Rift plugin for rFactor 2.

The plugin allows ISI’s simulation to work with the increasingly popular Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset. The new version comes with the following changes:

I got rid of the initial added height of the neck&head model, so initial eye position = cam position of the mod,
and changed the prediction modes to:
* Oculus Rift prediction = Off
* Oculus Rift prediction = 5 ms
* Oculus Rift prediction = 10 ms
* Oculus Rift prediction = 15 ms
* Oculus Rift prediction = 1 frame
* Oculus Rift prediction = 1 frame + 5ms
* Oculus Rift prediction = 1 frame + 10ms
* Oculus Rift prediction = 1 frame + 15ms
* Oculus Rift prediction = 2 frames
* Oculus Rift prediction = 2 frames + 5ms
* Oculus Rift prediction = 2 frames + 10ms
* Oculus Rift prediction = 2 frames + 15ms
Although it seems the default mode: Oculus Rift prediction = 1 frame is a good value anyway.

The plugin can be downloaded by following the link below, detailed instructions on how to get it running are available here.

In related news, vittorio will now port the plugin to rFactor 1, giving ISI’s trusted simulation the Oculus threatment as well!

    Now we just need to wait for the Rift to hit the retail market in late 2014, and we’ll be good to go! πŸ˜›

  • John Krisfalusci

    Is it immersive though? I heard the resolution is so crappy that things are blocky and can’t even read the words and/or gauge instrumentation. =(

      The current prototypes are not HD so yes its crappy, but still VERY immersive. When the consumer version hits the market it will have HD resolutions. I just hope that’s enough. I would pay double for even better displays inside the rift though.

      • Jason Garrett

        No one knows yet what the resolution in the consumer version is going to be. They’ve been showing 1920×1080 prototypes at trade shows, but there have been several 2560×1600 5-6″ screens released lately, so it’s possible if they have good latency and timing specs that they could use one of those.

        lol, my framerate already sucks in 720p…

    Since AC beta is released now we need a plugin and a HD set! πŸ˜‰

    • Lemming77

      No need for AC, that comes with native support it appears. πŸ™‚ The options are there in video settings.
