Project CARS – More PS4 Footage Surfacing

More Playstation 4 footage of Project CARS is popping up across the web.

There’s no shortage of brand new footage of Project CARS’ Playstation 4 version as several gaming outlets have published their previews of the WMD powered title today.

Among them is the Playstation Network, showing off six things they particularly like about Project CARS, including the customizable HUD, photo mode & more.

Alan Boiston of VVV Automotive has also gotten his hands on the Playstation 4 preview version, sharing his impressions with us in the following video.

But it’s not only magazines & websites that got to try the game’s Playstation 4 version recently as Project CARS was also on-site at Playstation Experience and Slightly Mad Studios have captured some of the gamer’s reactions to the upcoming title.

Project CARS will be available for the PC, Sony Playstation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One starting March 17 in the United States and March 20 in Europe, coming both as standard edition as well as being available as Limited Edition with additional goodies & content.

Great video preview Alan. This title has it all for me. I wish SMS all the best on this release, they deserve it. I’ve followed/supported and updated this title from day one. It has become the title I always hoped it would.

  • Me

It’s going to be strange when they finally release the title officially, I’m used to coming home M-F and wondering how big the pCars download will be that day and then checking the change log. Every day brings a new major update. Some days 200 MB some days over a gigabyte. Hopefully they stay busy working on DLC and maybe (fingers crossed) rally.

    • LogiForce

I think all active WMD members think this way. Working on Project CARS and discussing everything at WMD has been such an integral part of everyone’s lives for well over 3 years now. It really will leave a huge hole in our daily routine.

Heck, being a WMD member is like being addicted to sigarettes. You inhale virtual exhaust gasses as if you would nicotine, and you do it without knowing it. Yet once this addiction is being taking away from you, you’ll feel the after effects.

It will be as hard to quit WMD as it would to quit smoking.
So let’s hope we can also aid with DLC and patches as a sort of nicotine patch to cure our addiction. 😛

      • mhth

Nah, it only took me 4 days to quit after 34 yrs smoking.lol

      • Sim Antics

Well I have noticed considerable achievement in some areas that have really looked like complete wip for years and now looks like smooth running game system. the UI is finally showing polish and smooth operation like a finished product.

      • LogiForce

Indeed, it’s stabilizing nicely. Although I wish we wouldn’t have let so many little issues slip in over time, but that’s game development I guess. At some point you need to get things done and fussing over every little bug doesn’t really aid in helping that process stay in a fair pace.
So getting every feature and system in place first was priority, than fixing bugs and putting the finishing touches in is something that comes last in the crunching time.

      • Sim Antics

Oh I am quite proud of SMS with what is being accomplished at this point in time!

      • Sim Antics

Okay save a straight jacket for me!

      • HardRock

Won’t we current WMD members retain access to the development areas of the forums even after release, so that we can help with the continued testing of the game? I think I read something like that in the past.

      • LogiForce

I thought that was still up in the air, but that it was said that it would be a waste of a good team. After all the current WMD members know the drill already.

Correct me if I am wrong though.

    • Jetexocet

1.7 gig today. Love these updates. Like you said, gonna kinda miss it when it stops.

    • RobertH

It’s an ongoing project it will continue to have improvements and downloads 🙂

    • Alan Dallas

For me it’s every morning I get up, get coffee, flip on monitor, check Steam Download page, go read build notes, get ready for work. 🙂

  • Sim Antics

Makes me want to buy a PS4!

    • Yabba

These are the kind of stories you can tell your grandkids.

“Did I ever tell you the time I nearly bought a console?”
      “17 times grandpa”
“It was back in 2015 and I was just browsing the web and….”
      “What’s the web Pa?”
“Oh the web? That was an early version of the direct cortex information system, ‘cept we had a mouse and a keyboard and a monitor”
“A monitor? tee hee Grandpa you actually used one of those?”

      • Richard Hessels

What’s the web Pa.. it used to be a network where people could inform each other.. been shut down for years now. People where getting to smart…

      • Yabba

        “People where getting to smart…”

        Right you are Einstein.

“Where” – in, or to what place or position.

“Were” – second person singular past, plural past, and past subjunctive of be.

to – expressing motion in the direction of (a particular location).

too – to a higher degree than is desirable, permissible, or possible; excessively.

        So, it’s

        People WERE getting TOO smart.

        Hope that helps.

As for using a console. Even if these guys get [email protected] – (and all these developers blather about it, but they never do) they only do that by making the game look worse.

Even if SMS do manage it nigh on every other game on the platform doesn’t. So you’re still stuck on a platform with most games you buy under performing.

Truth is, SMS are wasting their time trying to get it to run at 60fps on PS4 and XB1 because the people that buy consoles don’t care about quality.

      • Richard Hessels

Yes that helped a lot! Thanks I sleep much better now.

      • Alan Dallas

Would hardly call it a waste of SMS’s time on the PS4 since they have already achieved 60fps @ 1080p on it. I’m not up to speed on the XB1’s progress but the last I read it was 60fps @ 900p

      • Almacca

“…the people that buy consoles don’t care about quality.” Google ‘resolutiongate’, and prepare to be enlightened. Or horrified. One of those things, probably.

      • Sim Antics

That’s doesn’t work as I will most likely never have any legitimate children that I know of?

    • Ross

Makes me want to wait for the PC version.

      • Sim Antics

Hey at least your onboard with the title no matter the platform. However I am getting the limited PC edition and then have to decide how I want to use my perk for my free copy. So one of the console versions may just give me an excuse to check out a couple of other console titles. Now which platform? Xbox1 and intent to also include Forza or PS4 and include Drive Club??????? Tough choice.

      • Ross

PCars has an interesting community, so far I’ve noticed the hard-core fanboys and then the people on the opposite end of the scale that treat it like it’s the devil incarnate. To me, it’s another racing sim that will make it’s way into my collection because of what it can offer in comparison to what else is out there. So far, I play almost all of them because they offer something different, and no doubt PCars will offer something else to me. I’m excited for it, as I was shattered when I came in too late to get into it.

As a PC racer, I do miss the days of having a starting a career like I did in GT3/4 and Forza 3/4. Grid Autosport doesn’t really do it for me, despite being very fun to drive. I also wouldn’t mind getting into Drive Club either, it looks and sounds like a blast. Is it anything like The Crew?

  • Yabba

    “Hello viewers”

  • Cé Pamoi

If only Sony add support to Fanatec wheels… My PS4 would then do something else than collecting dust…

    • TheFourHorsemen

      Same for my G25…
      Screw them….I got a PC last april…
      1 word: Freedom

      -Legacy harware support
      -MP3
      -DLNA
      -Steam special sales!!!!

They lost me for racing for sure with their gamicks…

    • olddarth

      And Logitech.

  • Arie Beuker, de

LOL i did not know project cars would go to PS4.
Is this really a racing sim? Or a game? I am beginning to doubt.

    • TR7_LS1

And XBox1. This has been known for a very long time.

    • Alan Dallas

Umm, seriously? It’s only been being announced for PS4 and XB1 since the PS4 and XB1 were announced. It’s a PC port to those platforms.

    • Rlee

I’m sorry to inform you, but even sims are games. There is no reason it can’t be a sim and be on a console. Actually consoles players have been screaming for a proper sim for years.

      • Arie Beuker, de

That is not what i referred to. But if you look at the F1 series that came out lately on pc and on console, the pc version is just not realistic enough for me.
Console is often arcade and that is just not my style, that is it. I do not hate consoles. Someone mentioned the word “pc master race” again, another thing i do not care about.

    • LogiForce

Arie, why are you so close minded? Or are you one of those that will say “playing a shooter with a gamepad… no way you could aim with it. You need a keyboard and mouse like the PC Master Race tell you too”.

Seriously. I don’t see why a game would become less capable of simulating a race car and environment than on the PC.

So please explain to me why you’re claiming what you are claiming here? To me it does not make sense.

      • Arie Beuker, de

Woaa, that is going way too far dude. I just have bad experience with these kind of racing games that go cross platform. That was it, a real question, no pun intended.

  • Kev

pCars is going to fit in nicely on the console. Gran Turismo was crap. Forza 5 way light on content. Forza Horizon effin great course-wise. PCars is right there with formal racing and sht ton o’ content. Perfect. And physics / ffb have come a very very long way in a short time. Even though it has been months since pCars really began to come together IMO, I am still shocked at how crap AC is compared to it and that is even before considering the immense content, functionality gaps and overall poor design of AC. Amazing job everyone who pulled off this incredible, unprecedented and community-wide effort.

    • pocketrocket

getting some popcorn and the F5 mashing begin

    • James Robertson

pCars is going to be a major wake up call for Forza and Gran Turismo, hopefully grinding for cash will soon become a thing of the past.

      • LogiForce

Let’s hope Kaz at least comes back from his statement of using GT4 models in GT7… which are now 10 years old and will be even older upon GT7’s release.

But yeah… they will be in for a surprise.

      • Nathan

Kaz needs a kick up the behind like the one that Project CARS will hopefully deliver. I found GT5 disappointing and GT6 is the first in the series I have not bought (after researching and watching videos of it).

The premium/standard model was an inelegant solution to achieve a large car count (which was done mostly for bragging rights anyway). Adding blacked out interiors was an even more inelegant solution (why not just have a few generic cockpits and allow the user to select the most appropriate for the car being driven?). Someone new to the series could be forgiven for thinking the game had glitched. I could rant for hours about other issues with the cockpits alone (steering animations, inability to explicitly set FOV, change seat position or remove the visible wheel etc) nevermind the undelivered promises and neglect of issues people have been complaining about for years.

With the little I’ve heard about GT7 it is likely another I’ll skip. It is a shame because I used to love Gran Turismo but Kaz doesn’t listen to criticism and his “vision” doesn’t seem to match my idea of what makes a good game/sim anymore.

    • BackMarker

Forza is the worst! It has really gone downhill! good thing is it pushed to PC racing sims!
      : )

      • Chillisteak

Couldn’t agree more with you! if it wasn’t for the Forza brand I wouldn’t have got hooked on sim racing.
But Forza 5 was a complete disappointment and it makes me glad I jumped to PC and all the wonderful sims it has on offer.

      • Ross

Forza 2 is what got me hooked back into sim racing after a 3 to 4 years of not playing a racing game/sim. I have hundreds of hours clocked up in that and FM3 respectively. As much as I despise the current generation of Forza’s in comparison to what is available now, I owe my new-found love for sim racing to that series.

    • Sim Antics

Most of this I am okay with and agree with exception for your opinion of AC which I think is wonderful as well.

      • http://www.facebook.com/steve.shears.37 Steve Shears

        Agreed. AC is solid.

    • Chris Wright

You somewhat overstated your opinion, but at least it isn’t just me who finds AC not very engaging then.

      • Kev

Actually I am not overstating my opinion. And to elaborate my enthusiasm for AC was immense based solely on NKP physics and the promise of solid MP and AI. What I got was arcade checkpoints and lousy physics. Contrast that with the absolute crap pCars a year or so ago and I am indeed shocked. My sum total AC time is < 5% pCars time and that is being generous. There is just nothing to do and I gave up combo binge'ing years ago once I learned how to drive properly.

      • Chris Wright

Fair enough, but I think statements like “cr*p” tend to cheapen your argument. Nonetheless I otherwise find myself in total agreement with you.

  • Patrik Marek

small thing, but Ben Collins was second stig 🙂
    rain especially looks fantastic !

    • LogiForce

He was the first White Stig though. We had one Black Stig before him.

  • Jetexocet

One slight issue I have with Pcars is the lighting at night, especially in cockpit view. During the day the lighting looks incredibly realistic, but at night it looks a bit cartoonish, like there’s too much pastel colour. Replays at night look good though. Haven’t tried adjusting anything, just making an observation.

    • http://www.facebook.com/steve.shears.37 Steve Shears

IIRC theres headlight glows to be added.
