AMD has released a new driver for their range of Radeon graphics cards, hoping to fix the much-discussed driver issues with Slightly Mad Studios’ Project CARS title.

Owners of R7 & R9 series Radeon graphics cards should see a performance increase of up to 17% according to AMD.

Changelog

Crossfire Profiles updates for:
• The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Performance Improvements for the following:
• The Witcher 3 – Wild Hunt: Up to 10% performance increase on single GPU Radeon R9 and R7 Series graphics products
• Project Cars – Up to 17% performance increase on Radeon R9 and R7 Series graphics products

Known Issues:
• The Witcher 3 – Wild Hunt: Crossfire users may experience poor performance or random flickering. As a workaround we suggest disabling Anti-Aliasing from the game’s video – post processing settings. If the issues persist further, we suggest disabling Crossfire while we continue to work with CD Projekt Red to resolve this issue.

• Project CARS: Corruption may be observed if Anti-Aliasing is set to DS2M. As a workaround we suggest using a different Anti-Aliasing setting.

Tomorrow came about week later, lol! Thanks will try it out.

    “…increase of up to17%”?

That doesn’t sound like much of an improvement. Seems to me it would need to be a lot more than that to bring AMD/PCars players into the 60fps range.

    • HammerX

I can get some good fps 45 to 100, just have to turn some things off. My system did better this another version of the 15.5 driver than this one.

      • HardRock

Nor should you. The 17% improvement is compared to the previous 15.4 version of the driver.

      • LogiForce

Indeed with both Nvidia and AMD improvement comparisons are always made with the previously officially released drivers, unless stated differently in the changelog.

I’ve fixed this problem for every games:
      I don’t display FPS in the steam overlay…so I don’t see the problem. 😉

Will this driver update be available for older AMD graphics cards? (HD6970)

This driver is already compatible with the HD 6000 series.

      • Sinister Kid

I tried the auto update program and it tells me my drivers are already current ones!

      • Oleg

Yeah because this is only a beta. I didn’t notice any advantage to use this.
        AMD should go to Hell

  • Dean Doucette

I have a MSI R9 290 4-GB and after installing the driver, I don’t notice any difference, but then again the sim played fine before.
