  • Gui

No C9 or Ford MkIV in the standard version of the game = no deal for me. 🙁

    • The Dark

haha you cant be for real? then get the LE version. 🙂

no plastic bag with my purchase = no deal for me 🙁

      • sickbroski

ahahah they could take out the graphics options and you would still pay extra to get them
        so crazy

      • todemanjack

Yes, they could make the little rain drop rings in the puddles exclusive to the LE. I haven’t been able to see them any way.

      • The Dark

obviously that is not something that is going to happen.
what i would or would not pay for is not something that is known to you.

      • Christopher Trees

I want a used tampon with my exclusive… If not they are as devilish as EA

      • The Dark

i believe you, i just cant figure what you would want one for.

    • EZehnder

God, people are so entitled around here.

      • sickbroski

God, people are so submissive around here.

      • EZehnder

        That doesn’t make any sense.

      • Gui

        Hahahahahaha.

  • Alan Dallas

Totally getting the LE version just for the book alone. Those cars in LE will more than likey be an addon pack post release.

    • Roy Rki

Will the book be available for separate purchase? I’ll get the digital version, but I’d love to read it someday.

  • ftrracingtv

is there a way to buy the book but get the Limited Edition on steam

    • pez2k

All PC copies will be Steamworks, so the disc version still requires Steam and will include a key to register it to your Steam account where you can download it as normal.

      • BackMarker

Do you know if this disc version has the full install of pCARS? Some steam games have a disc, but it only includes the steam install (sometimes with part of the game) and access code. Then the disc buyer has to go online to download the rest of the game. This could be a problem for many with slow internet speeds.
        thanks.

      • pez2k

I don’t know unfortunately – I believe they’re normally meant to have the full game on though. I’ve only bought a couple way back when, and both did. Depends how big the game is I guess, the development builds as they stand should fit on 2 DVDs.

      • ftrracingtv

I don’t want a Dvd version since I don’t have a Dvd drive on my PC (was going to put one in but ending up not needing one since 99% of Pc Sims u can download)

  • Jim. C

Sigh. This reminds me of Forza, and not in a good way.

  • 2Air

does this mean that members that have already payed and signed up for beta testing and so on, have to buy the game once it is out, too?

or am i not following correctly?

    • ftrracingtv

well on there website it says

when the game is ultimately released, you’ll either receive a full copy of the game or a discount on the retail price, depending on your membership level.

So just have a look at what tool pack you have and see if you get a free copy of the game

      http://www.wmdportal.com/projectnews/tool-packs-perks-and-fees-101/

      • todemanjack

The problem is. Now a free copy of the game is being hijacked by removing content and reselling it as “exclusive”. The original game is supposed to have 100+ cars. (at least Ian Bell said that is what they are aiming for.) Now we have 70 cars, and some of them are being held back as the exclusive you have to pay extra for.

      • 2Air

i hope they are not going the Raceroom Racing Experience way with this game!

      • Alan Dallas

LE cars are not “exclusive”. They are “instant access” as advertised on the Project CARS announcement page. The word Exclusive in the video wasn’t supposed to be used.
Being that they are instant access that means they will unlock them as a DLC add-on. Which no member of WMD has to pay for since they were created with WMD funding.

      • T0MMY3688

mind posting the link where the dev said it is just “instant access”? Dont feel like digging through the whole thread

      • Alan Dallas

It’s not on the Forums. It was posted in the Press Release as Instant Access content. Rather than Dig use the Search Feature and look for Ian and the Andy’s posts.

      • todemanjack

Thanks, better clarification then I saw given on WMD forums. Hope it’s correct.

      • ftrracingtv

God dam it there all same these game company’s

      • Alan Dallas

If you you mean they’re all the same that they want to make money… then you’d be correct. Don’t like it? Make your own game.

      • EZehnder

“Now a free copy of the game is being hijacked by removing content and reselling it as “exclusive”.”

Nope, that is specifically not what’s happening.

“The original game is supposed to have 100+ cars.”

Nope, there were forum polls about how many cars should be in the final game and the community voted for 50-100. There are a ton of cars in the game already and certainly more official cars than any other sim.

      • 2Air

as a team member, according to the sheet, I should see a 27€ discount, if they reach 250k sales across four platforms, if i’m correct.

So in order for me to order the game digitally, i would have to wait until it reaches 250k sales first.
        That’s also a bit dicy…
I’d like to play from day 1, not wait on sales

      • Patrik Marek

I don’t think so, I don’t think there is any limit of how many sales they need to get, you will get the discount no matter what, that’s my understanding.

      • EZehnder

It’s very clear that that’s the case. I don’t see why people are confused.

      • Rlee

The game is free for backers of full member and above. Sales numbers are only valid for the amount of profit each member receives.

      • Hanzales

What I understand Team Members will have a discount and Full Members and above will have a free copy (possibly LE edition). The sales limit are for getting some money back ;o) http://www.wmdportal.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/WMD_Overview_160212.pdf (page 12)

      • Christopher Trees

Probably going to get the 250k via pre orders anyway… As console users want something new and fresh which isn’t gran tourismo or forza…

  • Patrik Marek

    looks quite nice 🙂

  • Pure Citrus

None of the US pre-order locations have a PC option, just ps4+xbox…

    • Mario Strada

Maybe the PC version already gets the extra cars? After all, we were the ones that financed a good deal of the project, not the customers on PS4

      • Pure Citrus

I mean there seems to be no way to preorder the PC version at all. I wasn’t a backer, but will likely buy it when released, so I was considering the pre-order until I saw it wasn’t there.

      • Alan Dallas

Not all vendor’s have finished setting up pre-orders.
        Patience young padowan. 🙂

P.S. We’re still waiting for Steam people to put the pre-order page up for digital pre-orders as well.

      • BackMarker

You seem to be a pCARS insider! Do you work for pCARS or are you a pCARS enthusiast?

Do you know if this physical copy will contain the DVDs to install the full game? Or will I have to download the game through steam and the physical copy only contains the activation code?
        thanks!

      • Alan Dallas

PCDVD version would have game data for installing yes. Would be a waste of money to only stamp the disk(s) with activation code data. 🙂

      • BackMarker

Yes, that would be stupid that is why no one does that. many games for steam have a physical copy that is a disc box. Then you open the box and no disc inside; only activation code.

And you never answered my other questions above.
You seem to be a pCARS insider! Do you work for pCARS or are you a pCARS enthusiast?
        : )

      • Alan Dallas

Oops sorry, missed your reply. I am a Senior WMD member. Which means I’m privy to all the information the Devs see fit to post for WMD members to see on the Dev forums. Not all information is allowed to be divulged however. Somethings we’re asked to keep under our hats.

  • Mario Strada

There is no doubt I want the LE, who wouldn’t? But they need to be very clear about the deal with those of us that were on board from the beginning.
I don’t mind if I end up paying the same or even a bit more than someone that just buys it when it comes out, after all, part of what I paid for was the fun of having a game “grow” in my computer for all this time. But I would appreciate some more clarity. Maybe it’s all already explained in the forum, or at least I hope it will be well documented by the time sales open.

I’ll gladly give them an extra $20 for AI that actually work. Last time I tried an AI race I barely got to T2 and half of the cars that were not already trying to kill me were wandering around the infield or slamming against the barriers.

    • Alan Dallas

It’s already explained in the WMD forums. Search Andy Tudor and Andy Garton posts.

    • 2Air

i’m with you on that one! in the same boat

    • EZehnder

“But they need to be very clear about the deal with those of us that were on board from the beginning.”

Your package includes either a discount on the final version if you went cheap or if you’re a Full Member the entire game and first DLC is free. Plus, you’d be likely to see some profit if it sells well.

  • HammerX

No pre order for the pc…hmmmm…

    • Alan Dallas

      There will be.

  • erictheking87

    Are you serious guys???

SMS gives one of the best cars McLaren F1 only to pre-order LE buyers… Kunos gives LaFerrari for free to everyone after release. See the difference?

McLaren F1 car is one of the key features of the game… seriously I’m so happy now that those years ago when Bell appeared on nogrip forum, I did not decided to participate in his idea of making a game ‘by community, for community’.

Go home SMS, you’re drunk. (and surely you’ll meet there Turn10)

    • Big Ron

I see no difference. SMS will give free car updates after release, too. It´s still not yet known which this will be. And also, Kunos had pre-order DLC-bonus, too. Remember that pre-ordering AC gave you the Spa-premium-DLC + some cars for free while later people probably need to pay for this PREMIUM-DLC.

ISI did similar things with rF2 paying a bit more for an edition to get longer multiplayer-access or free-MP-access without paying additionally later on.

      • T0MMY3688

from what I see, AC pre-order bonuses are available for purchase after release at a later date but the 5 cars listed for pCARS are exclusive to LE. Which implies that if I miss this package I wont be driving any of these because of the exclusivity.

      • Big Ron

There is no doubt that these cars will be available as DLC for purchase at a later stage, too. It´s pretty doubtful that SMS models five cars (which are pretty iconic) just to give them in the hands of a very limted amount of people.

The thing is that it´s not officially mentioned how much, how often and in which size DLCs will be available.

      • T0MMY3688

But the problem of the whole blog at pCARS site never mention that the 5 cars being available at a later date if someone miss it.

The modified cars DLC pretty much points that if someone miss the pre-order could pay a price to obtain it with clear and huge letters on the site writing “PRE-ORDER TODAY TO GET THE MODIFIED CAR PACK FREE!” but not the 5 cars in LE. The trailer released for the LE even has “5 Exclusive Cars” written on it, if they are to be release later it wont be exclusive or it shouldnt be called exclusive but an early access to 5 cars.

From my point of view, the whole announcement dont seem to provide sufficient information on these deals and is causing confusion.

      • EZehnder

Calm down, they’ll be available. They’re not stupid.

      • T0MMY3688

I’m calm and awaiting SMS reply. I hope they are not but from the announcement it seem like they did a stupid move to lock out content.

I hope SMS prove me wrong.

      • Big Ron

“From my point of view, the whole announcement dont seem to provide
sufficient information on these deals and is causing confusion.”
        —————————————————————————-
Not just for you, but lots of people at WMD are confused, too. We need to wait to get more clarification and what SMS is announcing.

      • T0MMY3688

I hope to see SMS clarify all these confusion in the coming weeks. If they are truly locking them, I’ll most likely skip the game on launch and wait for it to go under $10 in Steam in a few years.

No plans in paying full price for a game with content lock up in the files.

      • BC72

I think we can all agree that this announcement didn’t go as intended… I am confident they will get things straightened out, but disappointed that they didn’t foresee the interpretations people have.

      • T0MMY3688

I can say this is the most disappointing announcement in 3 years of the development. I hate to see this kind of typical AAA games company stunt from a indie developer.

A year ago I was hoping there wont be any editions and exclusive crap but SMS seem to like it, now all I hope is these to be release at a later date.

    • todemanjack

Kunos isn’t marketing to big box console sales. To be fare.

  • T0MMY3688

This actually look like something EA did to their annual release NFS games, pre-order exclusive cars.

I hope those cars are available as a DLC after release like how Codemasters did with their pre-order bonuses.

  • Ppost

Does somebody know if the handeling on the ps4 version will be the same as the pc game? If so, will this be the first real sim on a console?

    • Michael Hornbuckle

Pretty sure that Race Pro takes that honor.

    • HardRock

AFAIK physics-wise the sim will be the same on all platforms.

    • mclaren777

Project CARS still has a long way to go before I would call it a proper sim.

For now, it’s on the same plain as Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport.

  • mhth

    Gotta laugh…..I can’t believe all the whining….wtf …..

    • todemanjack

When sheep are lead away to be shorn. There is a whole lot of whining.

      • mhth

So giving bonus material to people as a reward for pre-ordering is some how misleading and undermining the herd? Relax people the cars will be available to everyone at some point!

      • EZehnder

If you’re a full member on the forums then all this is included. If you’re not, just pre-order the game and get the content. If you don’t want to do that either, just buy the game when it comes out. If you’re not willing to do that, why are you reading this article?

      • todemanjack

I’m not even saying it’s true that we’re being shorn! It’s all in the perception. Good marketing makes people think they’re getting something extra for paying something extra. Maybe it should read: “Besides the metal collectors case and commemorative booklet, you’ll also have immediate access to the following cars.”

    • Captain Stabby

These people haven’t bought games in the last 5 years. It’s standard practice these days.

      • ModernTimes2

It is indeed. One may like it or not, but without some kind of marketing stunt, chances are that you might not be noticed by the larger public these days… SMS/pCARS needs to be noticed, as in having their business survive in a rather competitive environment, if we are to be enjoying their sims in the future.

  • Alan Dallas

I just want to post an example of another recent game that had a Pre-Order LE were the content in it was released later.

BF3 LE. I own it. It had advertised ‘Exclusive’ Instant access items in it. 1st DLC for BF3 was Back to Karkand. Guess what? All those items in LE became available to anyone wanting to buy BtK.

This is standard practice in the Gaming industry people. So stopped acting so damn surprised when it happens.

    • 0x00

“This is standard practice” does not equate to it being okay.

      • Alan Dallas

Didn’t say it was okay. Or at least for all consumers anyway. Just that’s the way it is now. Activision, Ubisoft, EA, et.al. all do it now. And will probably keep on doing it for the foreseeable future.

    • T0MMY3688

Then we have another game from the same developer of BF3 which is in a similar genre with pCARS, Need For Speed Rivals. There are 2 type of pre-order exclusive items for the game, one come with a Nissan GTR cop and another comes with a SRT Viper TA racer which both are not available to the people who miss the pre-order edition of the game till now. Same goes for NFS The Run and NFS HP2010.

It is also common that developers not releasing it at a later date which is why I’ve been asking around are these available at a later date.

      • Alan Dallas

It hasn’t been put in stone yet. BUT I’m going to go out on a limb here(not speaking in any official capacity) and say yes; the 5 Cars in the LE version will more than likely be in a Future game update or DLC. It makes sense from a business stand point to offer them to as many as possible post LE pre-order period. Not everyone will want to fork out the extra money for the pre-order but they may be willing to pay that little extra later on when funds allow.

      • T0MMY3688

I’m hoping to see a official statement from SMS or see it release as DLC at a later date after launch. I’m definitely not going to pre-order the game since I do not accept such content cut practice from developers/publishers.

I hope you are right and I hope SMS prove me wrong. All the hopes and hype I got for the past 2 years pretty died with this announcement.

      • erictheking87

Well, at least your honest. Everyone knows what is going on and why, but still, only few game devs have enough courage to say it straight.

  • Benjamin Overgaard Karslund

Exactly where can I get that LE version? I can’t find it at any webshop? Neither in UK, Germany, France, Spain or Denmark where I live…

Only the normal version is available…

    • Alan Dallas

Did you follow the Links at the bottom of this page?
      http://www.projectcarsgame.com/preorder.html

      • Benjamin Overgaard Karslund

Yes I did, and there is absolutely nothing to be found – the LE version is not available anywhere – in any country! WHY??

      • Mike Theunissen

Well I found the Limited Edition straight away after clicking that link. Click it again and scroll a bit…

  • Ole Marius Myrvold

Welcome to DLC and Pre-Order Bonus Simulator.

Nah, staying away. (And not just from pCars…)

    • http://www.lockedandloaded.us Neil

      So, no AC either, huh?

    • ModernTimes2

      Cool story, bro!

  • Roman

Pre-orderd today the PC version and really happy about it as I’m a big fan of the BMW M1 Pro car. Great deal if you ask me, getting the limited version for 10 € more than the regular version. For someone like me who discovered ProjectCars to late to be a member it’s worth it i think 🙂

  • Markus Ott

It’s again one of those days the good ol’ simracing crowd gets reminded the rest of the world is already in 2014 and their 2004 believes just don’t get the world run anymore.
Damn SMS and pCARS for doing that over and over again!
    🙂
