One week ahead of the title’s much-anticipated release, Slightly Mad Studios have revealed the full car list of their upcoming Project CARS title.

Project CARS includes a wide selection of cars from many popular forms of racing, from karts to high-power Formula cars & prototypes, historic race cars and road-going machinery.

Adding to the cars in the Standard Edition of Project CARS are the Limited Edition Pack & Modified Pack additions, both packs are also part of the Digital Edition across all three platforms.

The car list also includes some mysterious blanks that will be filled quite soon, alongside a monthly free DLC car, starting with the W Motors Lykan HyperSport.

  • robxb

I really hope they’ll eventually make a deal to get the 918 and LaFerrari in there.

    • eracerhead

That’ll take some cash, so encourage your friends to buy it at release….! 🙂

      • http://www.lockedandloaded.us Neil

Given Porsche is still tied up in an exclusive with EA, no 918.

Not sure what the current Ferrari license situation is, it was a turn 10/Microsoft exclusive (possibly that was only on console) no who knows, either way its gonna be expensive.

      • 3dnooblet .

I’m sure Ferrari wanted millions no doubt. T10Microsoft can afford it no problem. Not so much the case for a non conventional original developer without ties to some evil giant corporation.

      • robxb

I know they’ve got a contract with EA, but Turn 10 managed to get Porsches (not just RUFs) in Forza games.. Just not sure how much money that took. RUF is great and all, but ahhh the 918 would be nice to try out.

      • http://www.lockedandloaded.us Neil

Eery haven’t had Porsche since forza 3 if I remember right. Even then they got them by trading the use of the exclusive ferrari they had (still have?). since then EA has refused to sublicense.

      • robxb

If I recall correctly, Forza 4 didn’t launch with Porsche, but I think there was a Porsche DLC pack (like $20 or something expensive) that eventually came out.

      • pez2k

The absurd price of that DLC was a good demonstration of how much a Porsche license costs, if even MS had to charge over the odds to make it worthwhile!

I believe in the earlier games MS traded their Ferrari exclusivity to EA in return, but MS dropped that license.

      • robxb

I totally agree. I remember seeing it come out and literally laughed out loud that they thought people (some, yes) would pay $20 just to drive a few cars.

      • pez2k

The sad thing is that it actually was an unusually high-effort pack from Turn10 – with body upgrades you could convert the 930 into a 964 for example, or the ’73 RS into a 911R. The huge pricetag just put people off instead though.

      • Paul Maguire

How does a smaller company like Kunos have the LaFerrari for AC?

      • 3dnooblet .

Italian dev, simple as that, plus they had some business dealings for some sim work in the past, which got their foot in the door. Italians helping Italians :P.

      • David Wright

SMS developed an all Ferrari title before so they should have a foot in the door too, but if you’ve been following pCARS even as an outsider like me then its been clear for years there would be no Ferraris.

      • erictheking87

Yeah, maybe that’s the reason. Guys at Maranello played both Kunos’ Ferrari game and SMS’ Ferrari game…
The outcome you can see on AC’s cars list and pCARS cars list…

      • RapidRefund

Never say never. SMS has learned to protect NDA’s like a pitbull because of the leaks they have had in the past. A Ferrari license is something they would protect like it was the last thing on earth until a deal is finalized.

      • robxb

        I have been since day 1! 😛

  • todemanjack

The coming year(s) will also see a whole lot more. It will be just like pCars is having Mods added to it. Only Mods of the same high quality as the original. But even if you don’t want to buy them. The high quality and very realistic driving vehicles available, will keep you busy for at least a couple of years.

    • superalekZ

yeah, that way you can defend a no-mods policy too….

      • Mark Quigley

Being modable or not should not be frowned upon either way.
I like mods but they do get messy.
Compare the pick up and play nature of rF1 and LFS, I like both but one scares me to reinstal and setup 😀

No Minis of any kind at all 🙁 I want some Not the BMW Mini though. You can keep that.

    • Me

      A joke…right?

  • ftrracingtv

    No ferrari’s I’m shocked

    • Alan Dallas

A Ferrari License would have more than likely ate up the projects entire budget

    • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

That is hardly new news. There’s none in RRRE and rF2 either.
AC are the only one’s who’ve managed it.

      • BackMarker

        good point.
We do have that Ferruccio(sp) mod in rF2. No Ferrari license fee necessary! haha
        ; )

    • http://batman-news.com Leeman

I won’t lose any sleep over the lack of Ferraris. Plenty of other cars to drive.

  • varis11

    Confused here…any complete series???

    • Jovica Ilic

I really want this too, hope we can get in in DLC’s

    • pez2k

The single-seaters and Clio Cup (since they’re one-make series), there’s a big GT3 field, a fairly large GT4 field, and a decent number of classic touring cars both Group A and 60s-70s. Basically, anything with a career mode tier is pretty fleshed out.

  • Jardier

I love LMP1 or all LMP cars in the rain – heavy fog and rain? That is a challenge! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q114DVV7_8 😀

    • 2Air

      haha insane, nice vid

    • HardRock

Be honest, did you really see anything at all during those laps? 🙂

      • Jardier

weeeell I must say that in real life it is sometimes easier – but knowledge of track helped and opponents brake lights too 😀

  • Haris Ahmetovic

    where is ferrari amigos

    • LogiForce

Here you go. Look it up on Google Maps if you want. 😛

      Ferrari SpA, headquarters and factory:
      Via Abetone Inferiore n. 4,
      I-41053 Maranello (MO)
      Phone: +39 0536 949111

  • Christian Schmidt

    all that nonsense around Ferrari…
but noone mentioning/realising “FULL Car List” but that many ?? in the list… 🙂
that’s why there’ll be some surprises left 😉
also there gonna be post-release DLC packs with additional
    tracks and cars…
but please, go on whining about ferrari etc. missing lol

  • Gorka Barron

Oh finally, the full car list!!!! and then you find those “?”. Is this serious??? hahah

  • EZehn

I really don’t understand why people think Ferrari is necessary to a game like this. Ferrari 458 in AC? Drive the MP4-12C in Project CARS. It’s faster than the 458 around most tracks anyway!

Want the LaFerrari? Drive the P1.

Not every sim has to have the exact same selection of cars.

    • Patrik Marek

if pCARS had Ferrari in it ,there won’t be any more reasons to buy Assetto Corsa

      • TR7_LS1

I am so glad I got AC on the half price sale.

      • svdb

Didn’t expect you to make that statement, lets start about physics and modding support. Not to mention the bang for buck factor. None of the latest sims is a jack of all trades, and as long as there is none, I’ll play all happily.

      • Patrik Marek

sometimes we have to stop being too serious,
I never said (or implied) that AC is bad, modding support is definitely big plus, I also like their gamepad filtering/settings – best gamepad support of all games I ever tried on pad.

But then there are the downsides too, (as in every other title – sure)

      • Memots

Care to share your gamepad setting?

We tried to setup my buddy with the Xbo or 360 gamepad and we played quite a bit. I ended up using Gamermuscle gamepad setting (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu-M1bBK9Bk)

But unfortunately at low speed its terrible. Cant take any chicane lol.

      • Patrik Marek

I have my settings on the AC forums, but here you go
just to make sure, we’re talking AC here, right?

        game pad settings

        | speed sensitivity 15% | steering speed 50% | gamma 2.4 | filter 0.85 | deadzone 0.02 | rumble intensity 40 % |

if it’s too sensitive for you, you can increase steering speed to 60-70%
works perfectly for my taste and I find these (for me) the best gamepad settings for any game I have ever tried on gamepad

      • Memots

        Thanks a lot

  • nikoppp

It’s 2015 and people are still asking for Porsches, Ferraris or Lambos in certain games… Amazing… Come on guys, you should already know why those cars are not in most games…

  • http://batman-news.com Leeman

There’s plenty to like there. But, I sort of like Sector 3’s approach, releasing entire series and not just a bunch of one-offs. But, I’m confident over time that cars will get added to fill out groups like GT3, Gr5, etc.

    • nikoppp

I think there is almost as many GT3 cars as in Raceroom and more coming as dlc.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

That’s good to know. GT3 is one of my favorite classes. There’s a nice field in AC as well.

    • David Wright

This my feeling too. I’m really looking forward to the DLC but I hope they “group” it like S3S rinto cars that belong together rather than take a scatter-gun approach where you have to buy 5 cars you don’t want for the one you do.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Yes, that’s exactly what I’d like to avoid (scatter gun). Like in Forza, I hate having to buy a Humvee, a Ford Step Van, a John Deer tractor and a Studebaker just to get the Indy Car I want. I gave up on FM5 after about 2 weeks for that very reason. LOL.

  • Alexandre Martini

if that list had only 3 cars with proper physics, i would be more excited.

    • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Agreed. As long as I get to pick the 3 cars. LOL

    • sickbroski

Don’t piss in their Mountain Dew, please.

  • Paul Stroff

The EVO is in the list. OK, but where is STi? IMHO a large part of the list is supercars and 99% of the players in the real world will never sit behind the wheel of their. More “earthly” cars need to be at least something to compare ..

    • QUF

From that list, about just one third are supercars.

      • Paul Stroff

Well, by the word “supercars” I meant all the cars, which are unlikely to be available to a person with average income.
Look, it is not 30%, much more.
I think that even Sti / Evo / RS can afford only a small part of simracers, not to mention the more expensive of M-series BMW.
Personally, I was not very interesting to ride spacecraft (you know what I mean), so I’ll never know how well made the physical model of the machine.

      • QUF

Well yea, Gran Turismo if you want reasonably priced cars xD

      • Paul Stroff

I do not like consoles! =)
GT is a good game, but I do not think it is a hardcore sim 😉

      • Dentykaffalatta

GT would be fine if the clutch worked.

      • TR7_LS1

If I wanted to drive a cheap POS, I’d go outside and get in my own car.

      • Paul Stroff

I want to drive my STi in real life and in the game. What’s wrong?

      • TR7_LS1

As a WMD member, we voted on which cars were wanted in the game. Your STi was not even on the list and I don’t remember anyone asking for it.

      • Paul Stroff

May be… BTW, not on WMD forum, but the steamcommunity have a discussion on this issue

      • Alan Dallas

The Steam community have no say in the direction pCARS went. That privilege belongs to the WMD backers. Not to mention pCARS didn’t start on Steam. WMD members were discussing content, game mechanics, playing dev builds for well over a year before we got the Steam builds.

Suffice it to say, it may be awhile before you see a Scooby in pCARS.

      • Roy Rki

Pcars isn’t a rally sim, missing sti or evo isn’t exactly a big issue.

      • Paul Stroff

Tthis is not a rally simulator of course, but why they are not added the eternal opponent of Evo? )
        It might be interesting!

    • Dean Doucette

I would like to see the VW Golf “R”. 292 HP and 186 ft pounds of torque.

      • Paul Stroff

It would be interesting! I keep you!

  • Donnie Werner

Bently not on list but has been featured in game intro splash for months

    • pez2k

The splash screen features their various licenses, not limited to what’s ingame so far.

    • HardRock

See those question marks in the car list? Also, notice that the list is in alphabetical order. 🙂

  • Jack Whorton

Does anyone know when it will be downloadable in Steam ahead of release?

    • Patrik Marek

I have read that it’s already available ( to pre-download) on XB1, so yeah, definitely

  • svdb

Pretty nice list, I think pcars will provide a lot of fun in those quick hassle free multiplayer sessions. I’ll pick it up when it hits a sale.

  • yumadom

A few Chevrolets would ne nice as well…

    • Canadian Dude

I’m pretty disappointed that the corvette isn’t in there.

      • todemanjack

They’ll have more money to buy licenses after the game launches. Don’t give up.

      • Dean Doucette

I would like to see Chevy Daytona Prototypes like in Raceroom Race Experience and Corvettes.

  • Rubrbrnr

Cmon people…. To everyone requesting production road cars, give your head a shake. Yes, there may be a handful of road cars in the game, but that’s just SMS pandering to their marketing folks to widen their target audience. This is a RACING sim, not a DRIVING sim.

I think the list is a great start, but when more cars start to come out (and they will), I hope they’re either pure race cars or at least ‘race-prepped’ versions of production cars.

    • Patrik Marek

Agree, race cars all the way! The lineup is actually perfect as starting point. More to come

    • Nathan

The PC has never had a shortage of racing sims where you drive purpose built race cars. That is likely why people would like to see more production (street) cars in the game.

I’ve personally always found the idea of driving production cars to their limit more appealing. They are generally less predictable and more challenging to drive, plus I’ve always loved the “someone I know drives that car. I wonder how fast I can get it around Nordschleife” factor.

I believe this is part of the reason why Forza and Gran Turismo have been so popular over the years. Then again, I must admit that I’m primarily a hot lap kind of guy.

  • Benjamin Overgaard Karslund

I was SO hyped for Project CARS – but DiRT Rally just stole my heart!
Maybe it’s good my expectations isn’t too high now for PCARS.

I just can’t get those engine sounds of DiRT Rally out of my head – if PCARS had that amazing sound it would be the game of the year…

Oh god I hope PCARS will be the same on Xbox One as on PC. Not graphics-wise obviously, but with features and options.

    • HardRock

Look up Team VVV on YouTube. Alan will be uploading pCARS videos in the coming days. He already did a few showcasing the options available on the consoles. Basically everything is the same, except the graphics options that would significantly change the framerate are missing. You can still adjust minor things like lens flares, sun flares, crepuscular rays, helmet blur, rain drops on the window, etc.

  • AkheirAX

Buying this just for this car:
    Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo2 DTM

    • pez2k

Try to avoid driving the Sierra RS500 then – after that turbo rush I find it very hard to go back to the naturally-aspirated rivals!

      • TR7_LS1

That’s true in real life as well. My 3rd car was a 89 Mitsubishi Starion 2.6l 4cyl Turbo and have owned 12 more Starions and Conuests, 87 Porsche 944 Turbo and 78 Porsche 930 since then. They are addicting.

      • StarFoxySxv550

Is the 930 still in your ownership?

      • TR7_LS1

Sold it to my best friend about 8 years ago but I still get to drive her when I go to Atlanta to visit.

      • Patrik Marek

what? that was my favorite car for a super long time, was driving it at Brands and dawn, such a magical time!

      • pez2k

That’s what I mean – the RS500 is so fun it would make the 190E seem less enjoyable.

    • Memots

inst that car already available in Assetto corsa ( in the dreampack it list Mercedes Benz 190E 2.5-16 EVO II ) and R3E ( http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/dtm-1992/mercedes-benz/mercedes-190e-evo-ii-dtm ) ?

      • AkheirAX

I’ve stopped using these two titles because of their poor VR support. I’ve seen PCars running extremely well with VR. I am hoping they having a working GUI with DK2 unlike AC and Raceroom. Dirt Rally is forgiven for now since its early days as it also has this issue with GUI + DK2.

      • Memots

        Valid point

    • RapidRefund

It’s a good one too! @Memots maybe he buy all 3 titles

  • Kev

pCars? Oh yeah I remember that game. Already old. Been driving it for years. DiRT Rally is where it’s at now, boys. Although definitely have my popcorn ready…

    • Jos

Nah, gta5 has the best offroad driving, and you can even drive over people, tell me a sim that can do that?

      • Kev

        The crew 😉

      • RapidRefund

The Crew has actually been a great addition to the Racing Game Genre and with the exception of a bug where you lose FFB from time to time Ivory Tower has done some great things and are already miles ahead of Codemasters where controller support is concerned. I think there are many things to come from Ivory Tower and I look forward to it.

      • todemanjack

I like The Crew also. Don’t have your bug on my G25. Now they just need mirrors, and maybe a way to reduce braking force. It will be close to perfect.

    • todemanjack

After driving pCars for more than 3 years. I’m just getting into it! Because the physics are all finalized. And most important, I finally got, (or they did) the FFB working, like rFactor2 and AC’s. I understand that DirtRalley so far has terrible FFB?! Two different genres of racing anyway. Tarmac verses dirt/gravel. And totally different cars. But I understand your point.

      • Paul Maguire

I’m oing to install to pcars again, ffb was a complete joke past 3 years

      • JamoZ

It still is for most people…

      • todemanjack

        See above.

      • JamoZ

Done that, still wonky ffb. I gave up a while ago tbh, the whole game feels wonkey for me, from the menu’s to the gfx. I’m just not feeling it. I tried really hard to like it, but i finally had to end the relationship and we both had to go our own separate ways…it’s better his way.

      • todemanjack

You feel like a troll to me? Your post is unbelievable. Fox is a good choice for your avatar.

      • JamoZ

Well, i wish i was a troll and i could enjoy my invested bucks as much as some others seem to do, but it just doesn`t make my boat float. I`m glad you enjoy the game, i just don`t. Easy as that

      • RapidRefund

As for me I just love it immensely it suits my tastes perfectly sorry it does not do the same for you but to each his own. Only thing that bothers me about your post is that you say ( I gave up a while ago tbh) with no consideration that things have changed quite a bit since a while ago thank you. If you get a free copy with your perk level give it another try at your leisure and see if it is still not to your liking?

      • JamoZ

Last time i tried it was after they released the final build, hoping something changed that would make my experience with the game any better. Unfortunately it didn’t.

      • RapidRefund

Well then on to the next game for you I guess. Anyway thank you for supporting the title as a WMD member Take Care.

      • todemanjack

You still need the forums for a few tweaks depending on your wheel. Like on a G25, you need to increase the spindle FFB from 26 to 100+, depending on car. That adjustment is in the individual car garage/setup/ff tab menu. G27 needs dead zone removal of about .18, that’s found in the options FFB tab. Good luck.

      • Paul Maguire

Just installed it, Still don’t like. I just cant feel anything even at 100% with the csw v2. Like driving one inch over the tarmac, i cannot feel the road surface at all, just feels weird.

  • RevoxNL

I’m driving it for a year of 3 from the first build. Till past week but i’m a little dissapointed in the car list.. What is new for people who drives al the builds?

    • pez2k

The content freeze for release was something like September last year, so there aren’t any new cars added since then, just the existing cars polished up for release.

    • Ross Siggers

Nothing is new for people who have been playing all the previous builds…what were you expecting? :/

  • StarFoxySxv550

This is exactly why paid DLC is a viable and fair option now.
    IMHO

  • Paul Maguire

I already own this, will I have to redownload on release day?

    • pez2k

If you currently have it installed, I belive it’s estimated as a 14MB patch on launchday to remove the WMD membership requirement.

  • Alan Dallas

Man I can’t wait to see the DW12 in that list. It’s coming!!!
