Project CARS – Aston Martin License Announced

Slightly Mad Studios have announced the next licensing addition to their upcoming Project CARS title as Aston Martin joins the WMD powered simulation.

Slightly Mad Studios have announced the next licensing addition to their upcoming Project CARS title as Aston Martin joins the WMD powered simulation.

Project CARS will feature seven Aston Martin models, ranging from the 1959 Aston Martin DBR1 all the way to the company’s current GT race cars.

The addition of Aston Martin especially further bolsters up the title’s packed GT classes as Project CARS’ GT3 class will now feature models from eight different manufacturers, simulating the unrivaled variety that makes GT3 a popular racing formula around the world.

While fans of vintage cars will get their fix with some of Aston Martin’s early Le Mans legends, lovers of prototype machinery will be able to enjoy the DBR1-2, Aston Martin’s LMP1 prototype that was powered by the famous six-liter V12, on the best sounding engines in modern racing.

Threeย of the seven car models have already been added to the latest development builds for intensive community testing.

  • Jovica Ilic

Yeap, I was waiting for news like this.. and now need to wait until November ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Patrik Marek

Aston!! yes, great addition to already amazing lineup

  • damys

    DBS ? DB9 ? vanquish?

    • pez2k

Racecars are the licensing priority, to fill out the various racing series. There’s always the chance of a deal with the roadcar arm of Aston Martin later, but first and foremost it’s about broadening the range of cars on the grid for LMP1, GTE, GT3, GT4, and historic series.

      • RKipker

Well said… some folks don’t get its about developing the game to attract Buyers… and having a Full Game!

  • Josh Desotell

    So many GT3 cars! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Professional Operator

If they drop the money to Maranello for a 458 GT3 license would be great

  • Chaco

Just wanted to mention they updated so much of the physics of the cars now and the kart both 125cc and 250cc is sooooooo much fun to drive. Especially the 250cc on California Highway is insane.

    • MatzeLoCal

No more spins out of the blue? I had that when driving a kart on the nordschleife.

      • Chaco

        No more random spin outs.

    • http://www.lockedandloaded.us Neil

Gonna have to try them again.

I remember doing a MP 250cc kart race @ indy a while back. that was crazy, especially as at that point the drafting effects were too high. So much fun though

      • Chaco

Yea I haven’t played the karts in so long. Since they were un drivable.

Actually now that I think about I think the top speed is too low on the straights so drafting still needs work probably.

    • The Dark

the superkart was fun. but then I tried the zonda roadster at saikitto (not suzuka). it was ice, not nice. and when i turned the wheel it was like it just didnt want to turn. if i was rich and thought a zonda f had that little grip on slicks i wouldnt dare buy one.

  • Wesley Modderkolk

Real cool to have the DBR1-2 in there. Would love to see the AMR-One too, but Aston Martin/Prodrive rather would want to forget about that I guess.

  • Brandon Roseborough

Now THAT’S a list of cars! Shame they didn’t want the DBR9, but I guess it wouldn’t make sense since there’s nothing to race it with. Guess I’ll have to settle for the DBR1-2 since it uses the same engine ๐Ÿ™‚

    • RKipker

I’m sure Corvette would be in if Aston were in with the DBR9…. so they xould continue to race them in the Vitural World/… LOL!

  • F1Racer

I would like to have seen the DB5 (in Silver Birch naturally). ๐Ÿ™‚
DB4’s still get raced today don’t they ?

    • The Dark

      indeed they do mr. Bond:)

  • Markus Ott

With this selection you can even have a decent field for a VLN series on the Nordschleife. GT3s, GT4s, GTEs and even the old DTM cars fit in.

  • Diego Colafabio

I would take a DBR9 GT1 instead of the Rapide.

    • Ken Izuchukwu

As someone in the WMD forum mentioned: There would be no car to race it (DBR9 GT1) with. Unless maybe SMS acquired a license of the Corvette, Saleen, Maserati (Ferrari). Otherwise a “waste” of money from their perspective, for the extra licensing fees.

By the way, what’s up with the gray background in the comments section?

  • e_r_n_i_e

    Great news. Well done, SMS.

  • Roy Rki

Even the GT4 is getting multiple cars. Now they need a chevy licence for corvette and camaro, both in GT3 and GT4 class. I’m sure SMS and backers are already aware of that and are working on it.

  • Danfilm007

So how many GT3 cars is that now then? 5 or 6? And with GT4, proper endurance racing is really here!

    • MontoyaVR

As written in the story, eight different models for GT3 have been revealed so far ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Danfilm007

Oh, apologies for missing that completely! That’s one hell of a lineup, almost as strong as the BES itself ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Danfilm007

Also, how many GT4 cars are there? Is it just the M3, G55 GT4 and the above?

      • pez2k

There’s the M3, G55, V8 Vantage, and the Mustang Boss 302R1 so far. I suspect the Rapide will be similar on pace to GT4 too, it has more power than the Vantage but also more weight, and is a six-speed manual rather than the roadgoing auto.

(And, to pre-empt a question, two GTE cars, the M3 and the V8 Vantage.)

      • Danfilm007

        Thanks, you read my mind!

The endurance stuff is looking fantastic, let’s hope it lives up to our expectations!

  • HEYFANTA

Is the Vantage GTE the one Allan Simonsen drove at the le mans 2013, or another spec ?

Would love to honor him in that car

    • Brandon Roseborough

Yep, that’s the one ๐Ÿ™‚ I wouldn’t be surprised if SMS or a community member ends up making a livery honoring him once the car is released

      • HEYFANTA

I suck at making liveries, but if noone else makes one, I will

    • Alan Dallas

The #95 Gulf Racing Livery is on my list. Just waiting for the car to be done. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Iain

You need to fix the report. There will not be a Wii-U version anymore

    • HardRock

There will be, but it’s coming in 2015.

    • ModernTimes2

      Lies and FUD .
Hopefully a mod spots this thread and deletes it.

      • HardRock

Or alternatively enough downvotes should result in a post being buried or hidden. What’s enough should be dependent upon the number of upvotes or something similar to prevent abuse.

      • ModernTimes2

Yes, hopefully. It’s just that the trend in the net’s gaming comment fields is for trolls, liars and whiners to be upvoted by the new generation of drive-by dissers… For a lot of people, that cements it as the “correct view”, and we have an evil spiral. What happened to honesty, integrity and friendliness? ๐Ÿ™

P.S. It’s OT I know, but how can we sit still and watch these people ruining this aspect of our hobby as well as dragging the human condition down a notch.

    • ipaxton

      Fail, it was delayed.
