New F1 2018 Previews Reveal Classic & Current Content

Codemasters have released a new preview video of their upcoming F1 2018 title, showing Renault driver Nico Hülkenberg taking us for a lap around the German Hockenheim track, home of this weekend’s German Grand Prix.

As the name suggests, F1 2018 will bring the current Formula One season to the PC and consoles, unfortunately meaning that sim racers will have to deal with Halo the same was the drivers do.

For those who prefer Halo-free cars (so basically everyone with working eyes..), F1 2018 will also include a healthy mix of Formula One classics, ranging from the early 70s all the way to “modern classics” from the pre-hybrid and pre-Halo era.

I wonder if they will add support for two monitors so that the bezels can closely emulate the halo.

I’m planning to avoid buying into the F1 series until they add the option to disable the halo or add VR support so I can at least look around it. If neither of those two things happen, I’ll have to wait for the FIA regulation to change and perhaps by then Codemasters will have moved over to a next-gen game engine -the old EGO engine needs to be replaced.
