Mountain Peak Speedway 1.1 – Released

Image Space Incorporated has released a new track for their rFactor 2 simulation, introducing Mountain Peak Speedway.

Image Space Incorporated has released a new track for their rFactor 2 simulation, introducing Mountain Peak Speedway.

Sim racers with an excellent memory might remember the fictional race track to appear in one of the first rFactor 2 previews back in the day.

Since then, ISI has brushed up the track and decided to release it for everyone’s enjoyment, despite not quite being up to their latest track tech.

The versatile multi-purpose racing facility comes with no less than seven different layouts:

nfield Road course – 3.652Km/2.269Miles
This 2.3-mile road course uses both the oval and infield. Exiting the oval just after the start/finish line, you race behind the pit complex and parallel to the backstretch, before heading back towards the pits, exiting in turn two of the oval, using that to get back around and finish the lap.

Speedway – 2.362Km/1.468Miles
This tricky 1.5-mile oval consists of two major turns, and while the backstretch is relatively easy, the front ‘straight’ will do it’s best to throw you into the outside wall… Practice – a lot.

Legends Oval – 0.44Km/0.27Miles
This flat and short oval is way more fun than you would expect. In a low powered car, it can provide a lot of side-by-side action.

Kart Oval – 0.353Km/0.219Miles
In lower powered karts, this oval is easily flat out. In karts of different configurations, there may be quite a lot of skill involved not to necessarily lap it, but to deal with traffic instead!

Kart Long – 1.0Km/0.62 Miles
A nice flowing kart track with a couple of technical corners you need to learn quickly. Not a very high speed track.

Kart Short – 0.66Km/0.41Miles
This layout can feel quite frantic, especially in traffic. Laps seem to tick off very quickly. Very nice flow to the lap once you figure it out!

Kart Reverse – 1.0Km/0.62 Miles
This is the reverse layout of the Long configuration and feels a little more high speed. It has quite a nice flow and seems to be a little less technical.

    great work

  • Ben Melluish

    Really nice work.

  • David Hughes

Pleasure to drive because of RF2 physics, not really impressed by the track itself though, layout or modelling wise. You can kind of tell it’s someone’s job to finish this track on a long list of things to do, whereas with some mods you can feel the passion that went into the making of it through quality and attention to detail.

RF2 has so much potential but it’s spread thinly in so many different directions at the moment it is not making the impact it should be on Sim racing.

    • ftrracingtv

just random tracks and car coming out that you cant make much or a series out of in terms of racing

      • StarFoxySxv550

only need one car car in a single class for good racing.

  • hexagramme

One of the absolute top tracks for rF2. Magnificent.
Really captures the spirit and mood of American racing. I love it to bits.

    • Associat0r

      Yes indeed 10-4.

    • teefo

Seriously? It’s by far the worst official track IMO. The redone infield section is awful, full of needless blind corners and ugly kerbs , and the oval is nothing special. This is the first proper road track to be released in eight months and it’s a lame rehash of old content, I don’t think it does ISI any good if you praise absolutely everything they do.

      • hexagramme

Totally “seriously” man. And I’ll praise anything I feel is worthy of praise.

Flaming good content is helping who, exactly?

      • Kev

It’s much better when you have skill

      • Marc Collins

LOL. Call up Charlotte Motor Speedway and tell them their in-field road course sucks. The rF2 version is more up-to-date than iRacing’s. Oh yeah, better tell iRacing to get rid of it from their sim, too.

  • DrDeathO5

After a mediocre start it seems RFactor2 is getting pretty good.
I bought it 2 days ago and i’m seriously impressed.

Any serious sim-fan should give this a try. Earlier complaints about GFX are pretty much gone and the latest content really looks nice.
You get a sim that is packed with features unavailable anywhere else.
What it doesn’t have however is a full blown race series and this is what is holding them back now i suspect.

A rather under-utilised gem i would say and a real bargain.
To bad AC is being flooded with mods (which is in my opinion lacking in many area’s atm) and RFactor2 is left aside a bit.

    • Matthew Arnold

Glad you found it though 🙂 See you on the track.

    • ftrracingtv

once i get a better card ill give it more a go (not just hot lapping)

    • Pablo Coronel

      That’s what i talking about.

  • sobaphen

Very nice, but would be nice to have lighting at night races,

  • Keith Horner Jr

Hopefully the stockcar is soon to follow.

  • TC

Great work, in my opinion, Road and Oval layouts are very well done and, based on my experience on Iracing, they are a lot of fun (we need stock car though).

I also like the new karting layouts. ISI have some really nice kart tracks, plus awesome Dallas Karting Complex by PlickBadger, and is something often “forgotten”, but those tracks are extremely fun.

  • Sim Antics

Wow I guess I better download this 7 in 1 track package! Ovals!!!!!!!!

  • Kev

Great surprise and immensely fun especially with high power vehicles. So far tested short oval, kart oval and road course. Brilliant. TBH I wasn’t much excited about this one based on the layout but you can never judge a book by it’s cover I guess. Now where did I park that T280…I bet that’ll be fun here…

  • Andy

This “fictional” track looks extreeeeeemly similar to Charlotte International Speedway in a combined road course version…

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX_rS4UmmXs

    • Pablo Coronel

Yeah, the “similarity” is well know even before release.

    • Marc Collins

Yes, and it is mysteriously located in “North Carolina” according to the loading screen. You can have this pin-point accurate unnamed version for free in rF2, or pay for the same named version in other sims where all the billboard ads are accurate and corporate logos are everywhere. Your choice.

    • Joe Martin

Lol, after I saw your post I put the 2 videos side by side, and yup, its surely the same track with just one slight difference in this video’s layout.

  • XXVIIRACING

Fantastic news, I hope to god we have more ovals coming

  • Sim Antics

It seems we have people out there stealing SMS’ IP from PCARS and converting it to rF2 and then posting the links of it on the FB page Sim Racing For Life any facilitator of these behaviors needs to be black balled by the community!~ Or Worse!

  • Sim Antics

So I call someone out with regards to facilitating stolen Intellectual Property being unlawfully converted(no materials posted @VR but on FB) and my post get’s removed? It almost like saying your okay with it. These people need to be called out or it will continue till the IP owners revolt with massive lawsuits against the modding community. I am looking out for the Creators of the IP and those respectful enough to seek permissions to convert IP to other games. At some point the highly talented individuals who mod from scratch will suffer from the acts of thieves!

    • addyduss

may be it was removed so you dont make advertisement for them? This is not actually a right place to fight against converted mods..

      • Sim Antics

Everyplace needs to be the place to create awareness against IP theft.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

        Correct.

    • Pablo Coronel

To be fair you forgot a dozens of sites and mods.

      • Sim Antics

Well where are they at and what content? I really do not call into question materials that there is any question over. This stuff the Game specific logos were left on the cars so there was no question that it was the IP of SMS. So I try to be fair really. I even gave the FB page owner the benefit of the doubt that he may not have know it was stolen models. I only asked that he not facilitate the distribution of it. Of course not everything that has been ripped will be caught but the community needs to be sending a message that ripping other peoples work is not okay and to either get permissions for converting material or work from scratch.

Bet you were/are a right “Billy No Mates” at school .

      • Pablo Coronel

I bet you were/are the prom queen LOL

      • ___ ɥqp ___

…and I bet you were the spotty virgin stuck on their own in the corner.

      • Pablo Coronel

Hahaha, just a joke kid, take it easy.

      • ___ ɥqp ___

Yer post displays as a guest, Pabs old bean. Was hoping “Billy” had posted it.

      • Sim Antics

        Ok Willemena

      • ___ ɥqp ___

Nice to see you are being wound up by this, Billy. Keep it coming 😯

      • Sim Antics

What so you can continue to be my ?

      • Sim Antics

You are pretty stupid really you don’t understand we have laws here in the US(and ISI is an American company) against criminal facilitation and ISI’s platform could be found to do just that with all the included How To’s with regards to modding. Since they are fully aware that content get’s stolen and converted into their game they enable this type of behavior and have some liability into the matter in question. Even if they were not found guilty to any criminal charges it still opens the door for civil lawsuits fro developers who’s material has been stolen to sue. I don’t think anybody wants this but just about everything gets to a braking point in matters like these.

      • Sim Antics

A suit like this could kill the modding industry all together so go ahead continue to be stupid!

      • ___ ɥqp ___

Speaking of stupid, it’s “breaking point”, silly. 😂

Speaking of stupid again, nobody is disputing that your claim is wrong, its just your holier than thou patronising attitude that is bugging people across the various forums that you have been copying and pasting your message. Ta ta Billy.

      • Sim Antics

It works either way dummy as a braking point is also a stopping point which all of this should do. The 3 of us are really starting to look like idiots at least I am smart enough to see that!

      • ___ ɥqp ___

        ….

      • Sim Antics

Really it isn’t a joke. Large car manufacturers have already gone after the modding community to protect their brands and I am sure the developers would get more involved if they felt illegal conversions were damaging their sales. Who will suffer the most from this? The ones trying to be respectful with the materials they are creating from scratch.
Anyway I’m not the Crusader just someone who cares not to see the modding community get dismantled. Remember what happened with Napster also the Recording Companies going after P2P uploaders for hundreds of thousands of dollars and were being awarded large sums in civil cases. Could happen in the gaming industry. You want to be a part of the distribution of stolen material get a piece of duct tape to strap across your but first.

      • Pablo Coronel

The comment was directed to ɥqp, if you want to be a crusader, first, you are a little late, rips are before rf1/gtr2 era, second, try google “gta 4 mods” and you will find a rip of every game know, if you want to be a crusader, so be it! until, you just talking.

      • Sim Antics

As for you anyone can have a vase for an [email protected]@ and you and you little friends are only being smart a–es. So who’s the one actually saying anything that means something? Not you!!!!

      • Pablo Coronel

I show you your fail in your “crusade” at start, you dont have any idea of what you talking about, so dont put me names, grow up.

      • Sim Antics

I think you need to point the finger at yourself and your snarky comments! You have no clue about what is possible in the American Judicial system I could sue you if your cat made a habit of crapping on my porch and force you to pay to have my porch repainted and to surrender your pet to animal control. Illegal conversions open a can of worms if you don’t get that you are an ——–

      • Sim Antics

I ran the school. No wait I was kicked out for teaching people like you real manners

      • ___ ɥqp ___

The only thing you ran was off telling tales on people, Billy. 😂

      • Pablo Coronel

Oh no, you are the crusader, for me, everyone can make their a** a vase.

    • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

No we’re not ok with it. That’s precisely why your post was removed. Calling someone out is fine but you pretty much provided enough information so anyone who wanted to get that ripped content could just go ahead and get it.
So it’s like a unintended promotion for them.
Don’t be giving away links or names where others can go find the stuff and download it, then you’ll keep your post.

  • Kev

I’m not an oval fan but the speedway with 60s F1 is complete insanity and a blast even though death is guaranteed
