Ahead of the wheel’s expected launch sometime later this month, new photos of Logitech’s upcoming G29 steering wheel have surfaced.

Unlike the photos that leaked during the past weeks, these are obviously official product photos made in a studio environment.

The official product photos show off the wheel as well as the three-pedal set, giving us a clearer look at the wheel while we`re still waiting for the full feature list.

The photos seem to support what was rumored before as a stick shifter does not seem to be part of the wheel’s stock package that is planned to sell for 189 Euros.

Before the official specs are being revealed, these PR text blurbs will have to do for now:

Logitech G29 Features

  • The definitive sim racing wheel for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3
  • Dual-motor force feedback to simulate realistic driving
  • Smooth, quiet and precise steering action
  • Durable leather/metal components

G29 Driving Force is the definitive sim racing hardware for the latest PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC titles. Feature dual-motor force feedback and helical gearing for quiet, smooth steering. Stainless steel paddle shifters and RPM/Shift indicator LEDs help you make crisp, fluid gear transitions without taking your eyes off the track. The separate pedal unit gives you natural, responsive control with a nonlinear brake pedal. Driving Force is built for comfort and durability with hand-stitched leather and stainless steel components. Built-in clamps and bolt points allow the wheel to be mounted securely to a table or racing rig, minimising shifting or wobbling during aggressive manoeuvres.

Looks like they’ve done a lot of research and development on this thing!

    • LogiForce

So much that you grab a G27 and remove the manditory shifter, add DFGT style buttons and encoder plus some other manditory PS4 buttons… and you’re done!

The guts of this wheel seem pretty much identical to a G27. So I don’t know how deaf they are in the office of Logitech, or how noisy it might be there, but I am sure all of us know that a G27 is still a noisy wheel.

A nice entry wheel, sure. Tried and tested guts, with failing encoder wheel as the plastic of said wheel dries and shrinks around the motor axle forcing it apart.

All in all, I’d say nothing to complain about but also not something to be excited about either. It’s just the same old and nothing new, interesting or innovating.

      • 2tyred

The problem is, even for an entry wheel, i’m finding the G27 i just got WAY worse than my old momo racing 🙁

I mean, the pedals and having the shifter and 900 degrees is better BUT the whole thing is ruined by the lack of linearity in the FFB and also the massive FFB deadzone.
We really need to pressure Logitech into releasing a FW update for it because this seriously ruins the wheel.
When my old Momo Racing is much better in FFB then you know there is a problem.
18% FFB deadzone is unnacceptible :/ And the linearity is even worse.

      • pcarsphyxexpert

Add centre spring in logitech profile and no more deadzone.

      • 2tyred

Unfortunately, adding centring spring is just masking the problem.
Sure, it will stop it feeling loose in the middle but you still won’t be getting the FFB there.
This means that you won’t get the small initial signs of wheel lock up or car unsettling slightly over small bumps etc

With my momo, the wheel would try and move left and right slightly while braking over bumps, helping you feel where lockup was.
With the G27 you get none of that. And from the graphs i’ve seen from the G25, it’s the same too.

      • pcarsphyxexpert

Then pony up for t300rs…u can use your g27 pedals as well

      • 2tyred

The t300rs is extortionately more expensive. If i was going to spend that kind of money then I might as well just spend a bit more and make an OSW.

There really is a big gap in the market for a decent budget wheel.

      • JES

The deadzone is because of the dual engine FFB tech. Without the deadzone the two engines would work against each other at the center zone, causing massive oscillations. So that won’t change with FW update, need to re-design the FFB engines.

      • 2tyred

I know that’s the reason that they give but there is still no justification for having a deadzone that is as big as it is.
They could have a 5% deadzone and it would be a lot better.
At least let the user have a choice. I would much rather have slight oscillations than numb FFB. Even single motor wheels have oscillations due to how direct input FFB works and update rates not being fast enough.

And the linearity problem is far worse and they can’t “explain that one away” with the same dual motor reasoning.

No separate shift lever, so that there is the clutch pedal ? Rather strange…

    • Pandamasque

Shifter is so separate this time, that it will be sold separately! 🙂

  • Me

Still curious to see the separate shifter and wonder if they improved the stock brake pedal from the G27?
I’ve personally never tried a G25 or G27 (obviously proven wheels) but this looks like a decent choice as a PC backup or use on the PS4. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the cosmetics and/or button choices, but it looks good to me.

    • pcarsphyxexpert

Does the stock pedal require improvement for consoles?

      • Johnny Penso

It’s not “required” it’s just rather weak. The GTEYE is a highly recommended mod by me for a much stiffer and progressive feel and you can move the old brake spring into the clutch to improve that.

      • pcarsphyxexpert

Why did you buy GTEYE over nixim out of curiosity…?

      • Me

With pCARs currently on the consoles and AC headed there, it couldn’t hurt. Like I say, I’ve never tried any of the Logitech G series wheels, I just know that was a common complaint and a popular upgrade. So I was curious if they made any changes with it.

      • pcarsphyxexpert

Simcade games aren’t as demanding on the brakes, so I was wondering whether the standard set of G27/29 wouldn’t do fine.

  • Chris

Lets wait on actual tech specs and an unveiling before we call it crap or not

    • sickbroski

      Dude, it’s a G27 with a DFGT rim. :p

  • sickbroski

    Gimme! Gimme!

    • Hektor

(I’D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR)

      • sickbroski

        hissssssssssssssss

  • Depco

Well, as I have G27 I dont expect to move to this wheel unless my wheel blows up or I decide to give mine to my son… Of course I may just upgrade to a T500 at that point… but for first time users this may be just the ticket.

  • Easy DaRon

Not bad, 189€ is a good price. Not so well, that they are selling the shifter seperately. Anyway, my G25 is still working and I don´t plan to go to consoles. But if it brakes, it might be a choice.

  • noroardanto

I don’t like the overall look at all. the top buttons box really kills it. Too bad, the leather seems comfortable to grab and the paddle shifts look cool.

  • Slaven Ćorluka

Same rim, same internals, pedals (seem to be the same). Only thing I see new is extra buttons and maybe the shifter which is not in the photos. Lazy update. At least going from G25 to G27 they installed helical gears to make the wheel quiet. Hopefully they upgraded the encoder wheel, since thats the most known problem on this wheel.

    • RapidRefund

You have to figure the G25/G27 line of wheels have a reputation for ample performance and excellent dependability without breaking the bank. This is a conservative effort with excellent chances of successful sales numbers

      • JES

Doesn’t justify launching a new product that (ignoring buttons) is identical to the old one. FFB tech has improved plenty since 2007, would have hoped to see some improvement there at least.

  • Juhan Voolaid

I think it is a good choice of skipping the h-shifter. It’s crap on G27 and pointless cost/hassle.

    • https://www.flickr.com/photos/i-paliog/ Ioannis

No it definitely isn’t pointless ,because G27 is mainly for Pc games and there we use the shifter a lot!
Pointless on a wheel without shifter is the clutch pedal. …

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

But you can add a shifter. Then you’d be complaining there is no clutch pedal.

      • https://www.flickr.com/photos/i-paliog/ Ioannis

If I can add a shifter then my life would be complete.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Yep, either go for Logitech’s feeble offering or plug in the Thrustmaster TH8 RS

      • https://www.flickr.com/photos/i-paliog/ Ioannis

        Conspiracy theory mode /ON
Assetto Corsa and G29 “announced” almost simultaneously, while both Logitech and Kunos said there will not make any console products.
        Hmmm….
        Conspiracy theory mode /Still ON

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

How would that even be a conspiracy if it were true ?

      • https://www.flickr.com/photos/i-paliog/ Ioannis

One theory says that the only thing that whould make AC worth buying on consoles is a nice piece of hardware beacause if we want to play arcade and casualy have fun with friends we have better options… (yes we do) and also the only worthy use of clutch/shifter/wheel whould be with a simulator of some sort. So Kunos and Logitech decided that if they want a piece of the console market they have to work together.
        And voilà!

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

You’re right, but it’s quite a jump to say “Kunos and Logitech decided……..they have to work together” without having that as a fact to hand.

  • Pawulon

Instead of a “pad” in the middle I would rather have at least 6 buttons accessible with thumb, like on Momo.

    • ipitydafool

It’s designed for use with the PS4 and PS3…..

  • https://www.flickr.com/photos/i-paliog/ Ioannis

So apparently Logitech didn’t stop making game peripherals as they claimed in the past.
Lets hope they will eventually release a G27 successor

  • Anders Nilsson

Only thing that could motivate Logitech to release something better is if consumers instead buy from the compeditors, as I seen that Project Cars have created a surge in steering wheel sales Logitech might finally make a worthy replacement for the G27

  • RapidRefund

Anyone looking for an entry level wheel for the PS4 or PC who does not want the bottom of the barrel offering this is a great choice with a reputation of dependability built in.

  • jotaf1df

One question… You guys believe that Logitech changed the plastic direction sensor? It is fragile and always breaks.

    • RapidRefund

I think someone offers a brass replacement code wheel

  • Pepstain

    Horrible object

I was a happy owner of G25 and G27, the G29 is a G27 with some console style buttons. Light years behind other products. Logitech could do more

  • Blatant Abuse

Way to innovate. It’s a G27 with a face lift that’s missing a key feature.

  • Zouhir EL Alaoui

where is break hand ?olso i see that the price is very high
