Kunos Simulazioni Announces Assetto Corsa Competizione

Kunos Simulazioni has announced Assetto Corsa Competizione, the official game of the Blancpain GT Series.

Organized by Stephane Ratel’s SRO Motorsports Group, the Blancpain GT series is one of the world’s premier sports car racing series using the FIA GT3 ruleset.

Assetto Corsa Competizione will bring the cars and tracks of the series to you using the Unreal 4 graphics engine, featuring full weather effects, motion-captured animated pit crews and much more. Given the nature of the series it simulates, the simulation will also feature driver changes, an often-requested feature from online leagues.

Speaking of online, Assetto Corsa Competizione will also come out with a fully fleshed-out multiplayer part, including an iRacing-like player ranking system.

Assetto Corsa Competizione marks the first time a simulation simulates a complete GT series ever since GTR2 all the way back in 2005, so this is quite spectacular news to say the least. We’ll get a first taste of the game in summer when Assetto Corsa Competition arrives on Steam Early Access.

Is using the UE4 engine not limiting the physics ?

    • StuartBecktell

UE4 is the graphics engine, not the physics one.

UE4 is having its own vehicle physics, different physic assets can be included, but from reading about i was under the impression that there are limits. I know KartSim is using UE4 as well, but havent found a good review about it.
I am fascinated, if ACC can have the same physics as AC plus a very optimized engine. I just want to know ahead of Early Access, if its really true what we dream about. Weather, Day/Night, Driver change, Ranking system, it all sounds almost too good to be true, that´s all 🙂

All I can say is that I fully trust Kunos wouldn’t use UE4 unless they could provide an exceptional physics experience. Hype!

Yep, im back on the hypetrain again 😉
Quote from the Lord Kunos himself: “Physics was one of the very few things we could salvage and bring over from AC1 to ACC moving to UE4, everything else needs to be redone from scratch.”
