iRacing – More Nordschleife Gameplay Footage

As iRacing’s much-anticipated Nürburgring Nordschleife is now just one day away from being released, more footage of the laser-scanned track is popping up.

As iRacing’s much-anticipated Nürburgring Nordschleife is now just one day away from being released, more footage of the laser-scanned track is popping up.

Below is the newest video from Bridge to Gantry, allowing us to check out two laps on the VLN layout, that combines the Nordschleife and the short Grand Prix Circuit, in the Mazda MX-5.

iRacing subscribers that want to run this combined version of the track will have to purchase both the Nordschleife and the Grand Prix track when they become available on December 8!

    From youtube comment section
Q (Danny G): Hey dale why did u choose iracing over assetto corsa or project cars

A (BridgeToGantry): +Danny G I have all three, but the ‘feeling’
compared to the reality is definitely best in iRacing. There are lessons
to be learned from all three games though. We’re in a golden age!

And the comment he made about iR tyres. The tyres on than MX5 are not
simulating full slicks. I think he was comparing it to MX5 with slicks
that he probably drove in real life there.

Brilliant marketing strategy from iRacing to get the actual ‘Ring Taxi’ driver to drive and sell the track and basically give it the big thumbs up…as I am certainly pumped and have my money at the ready…well done iRacing 🙂

    • JackTorrance

Was that a part of brilliant marketing, or brilliant track design?

      • ImageArtSigns .

Could be seen as both…although I think you are correct the Track speaks for itself

      • JackTorrance

Yeah i guess it depend where their initial motivation lies. I always felt big sim companies like isi, iracing (papyrus), and simbin (before raceroom) their first intention is realism over companies like ea, turn10, sms(said in a whisper) and so on. Either way not going to wait a second longer than i have to to find out lo. Honda f1 first drive of the car whilst first lap of the nords anyone?

  • Gulyás Tamás

“Every” other games have green hell…it’s boring for now…

    • F1Racer

I’ve ran the Nords in many sims and I don’t think that track can ever get boring 🙂
I’m sure the release of this track for IRacing is going to be a big plus for many of it’s members/players.

Just my opinion but ironically the one thought I’ve had is IF I get this (and eventually I might) I’ll just do so to have it as I just can’t get into it. I love the AC version and got it as soon as it was out but well, my feeling here is if anyone can make the Nordshleife boring, it’d be iRacing. I haven’t commented so far because people take opinions as attacks/etc too much and this is just MY opinion and feeling. I just in general feel iRacing tracks have a kind of lifelessness to them, Now too, as a few that know me know, I don’t consider iRacing a simulator and more consider it a racing game and treat it accordingly. Again, not an insult, it’s just how I view it and I only state it to give background on why I feel how I feel about it. I’m not sure I’d even have the time or stamina (lol!!) to actually do a RACE here! Heehee. My main point summed up is I usually get excited when we have another version of the Nordschleife but find myself here just barely scanning the articles and feeling literally “Meh.” Sorry, but that’s how I feel this time. Cheers all and enjoy it! And thanks iRacing for doing it! Hat’s off.

I totally agree that iRacing has a tendency to present the tracks too “clinical”. I like the AC version, too. I personally like the Project Cars version even more. I don’t care whether it’s laser scanned or not. But it just “feels” like being there with all the audience, bystanders, ambulance and fire trucks, porta potties etc. And all those “experts” who try to tell me that only a laser scanned version is a “true” replication of the track: Go to hell. I don’t care. Although the Nordschleife is only 150 km away from where I live I’ve never driven the real track because I like my car as it is … without dents in the roof 🙂

it’s funny talking about lifeless tracks when coming “from” assetto, where the tracks are most dead I have ever seen. even the marhals are dead static.

      • emilblixt

I for one like iRacing graphics a lot. The crisp, clean presence is one of iR’s best features imo.

      • beau261

Not a simulator, more a game you think?
Have you ever say… Jumped he start and received a black flag, got pinged for speeding in pit lane? Over shot your pit box? Been given a meatball flag? Been disqualified for incidents? The list goes on and on. It’s the most in depth sim out there.

      • Dentykaffalatta

To me a “sim” is about driving and why I consider iracing a game more than a sim is the physics. Also the fact that most of the racing is like Gran Turismo, either one make or imaginary combinations made up by iRacing which I get in a way they have no choice due to not having enough different cars to simulate real racing, but still, that’s how I see it. For me, building a simulator is about building a DRIVING simulator which is why I seldom go online in ANY game as I don’t consider getting punted off track by the hot lappers very realistic. Having said that, I DO like iRacing for what it is and time to time enjoy a session when I get time as I find the racing (unlike the forum!! lmao!!) a fairly friendly place.

    • Bakkster

I think there’s room for every sim to bring what they do best to the track.

iRacing, I think, will be the only sim where you can race >60 cars for 24 hours on a laser scanned Nurburgring VLN layout. It’s a niche of a niche, but nothing else will do for the people who want that.

  • Patrik Marek

looks quite nice, not as good as on the previews, but I suppose that’s what people reffered to as “looks great at certain time of the day”
also don’t like the sound of kerbs, but yeah, track itself looks really well done

    • Luke P

Its pretty impressive seeing its on dx9 though. Id say looking great in some lighting settings will stay around till they switch to dx11. The textures, detail is all there is, and its all physics based rendering. This, the f1, sound update, dx11, for once theres stuff to look forward to in iracing and they made some good changes over the last year… and if sound update turns out like they say. Totally unmatched.

    • Niel

This is an alpa/beta build. I noticed too the quality wasn’t as good as usual. This video was recorded from a laptop, so that probably explains it.

iRacing staff already said some of the sounds were not correct. This should be fixed in the final version.

  • Glen Orpheus

can’t wait to try this out on my triple screens, i suspect i’ll crash from looking at the scenery though…

  • Diego Colafabio

    Can’t wait 🙂

  • tc2013

Iracing service is down for maintenance. Can’t hit refresh fast enough!
