iRacing.com – Donington Scanning Started

iRacing has started scanning Donington Park.

The summer in Europe isn’t exactly a sunny one so the iRacing guys were lucky to catch some good weather at Donington recently as scanning of the British track has started.

Steve Myers has posted the following shot of the crew at work, Donington isn’t the only new British track coming to iRacing as¬†Thruxton, Snetterton, Croft & Mallory Park are in the pipeline as well.

Looks more like he’s checking facebook instead of scanning anything. Get to work boy!

They ain’t in the UK, its a photoshopped picture, its obvious because its not raining!

    • Anonymous

There is a second picture where the track is soaking wet ūüėČ

Big whoop.  Zolder was scanned how many years ago?  Still nothing.   Update Limerock and Silverstone first FFS.

    • Anonymous

Zolder is the next track to be released, they’re keeping quiet on it which usually means they’re working. Only reason that got delayed is because it wasn’t high priority back then, especially considering some of the other partnerships and tracks that got signed afterwards. Limerock hasn’t been rescanned yet, last I heard they were waiting on some more changes, although I’m not sure when or if those will happen. Silverstone might get rescanned, they mentioned they would like to rescan it and update it. All of that said, even if they do rescan Silverstone I wouldn’t expect it to arrive quickly.

iRacing should spend time getting to new tracks and only then wasting time going back to¬†re-scanning¬†tracks as most top tracks are making changes on early basis. (I liked Fuzzi0n’s post by mistake!)

More tracks, more cars, more series, more fixed series, more half empty servers, blah blah blah. ¬† ¬† ¬†More arcade each build.. ¬†I remember when we used to say quality not quantity at iRacing. ¬† Now we’ve got a hundred different series, with driving assists. ¬†LMFAO what a joke.¬† Your’e a lifer Tiago and you’ll be going down with that sinking ship. Bring your life preserver.

“More tracks, more cars, more series, more fixed series, more half empty servers” IF I can understand what I wrote I only said more tracks seems like you need a break, get a gf or at least breath some fresh air keyboard warrior!

      • Anonymous

More series doesn’t mean more arcadish. And driver assists only work in test sessions, not in official series.

      • Anonymous

driving assists are only available for test sessions! real cars have driving aids too, are they arcade? rfactor has driving aids, is that arcade? for instance the HPD has traction control IRL.

It’s a fine balance between adding new content and thinning out the customer base over too many series and I think they are doing a pretty good job. They seemed damned if they do and damned if they don’t though because people still compare it to the many tracks and cars you can get in games like rFactor even though the content is far superior in iRacing in my opinion.

      • Anonymous

That’s funny, I seem to remember SRW having lots of driving assistes when I tried it out…..

Limerock can be left the way it is for all i care, the changes they made there A) ruined the track and B) they are quite minor! Silverstone will be great when its redone! i Believe they are scanning all the british tracks this trip including Silverstone!

Nah, the new LRP uphill chicane is at least worth running, especially with the faster cars. Nothing else changed with layout but fresh pavement.

    • Anonymous

So, Spa and Suzuka should have waited until after we had Willow Springs? Great planning! Zolder will be out in a few months, next road course to be released.

Silverstone is being rescanned this trip, LRP is being rescanned this summer as well.

      lmao
I still can’t believe that. Donninton admin must have just said “… of all the sponsors to stump up some cash, why these guys?”, facepalmed and then asked when the cheque was arriving

on a side note on iRacing… http://www.iracing.com/inracingnews/iracing-news/brasil-tops-world-cup-of-iracing-qualifying (as Rob isn’t giving this info the much deserved space)

I want to congratulate Brazil!! and as posted there Brasil is still a small community in iRacing unlike the Aussies who got their own time zone they have to fight with the top of the cream in both EU and NA time zones. This shows that if iRacing invests in maybe 3 or 4 Brazilian tracks and Stock Car Brasil car we can see a much larger number of Brazilians migrating to iRacing. Keep in mind they have potential to be as big as US in iRacing but are still much smaller than the results show. and IMO With around 200 million people and 50 million petrol-heads iRacing is wasting time not focusing in the new economy markets!

    • Richard Hessels

It’s a shame that so many¬†Brazilians¬†still have to deal with quite some lag connecting to US or European servers. As there are many talented drivers out there.

Game Sport Car already did a really good job recreating the Stockcar series.
For a super reasonable price point, so iRacing have to do it a lot better.

iRacing already tried to get their huge laserscanner trough the customs of Brazil once.
But they where not allowed to enter the country with it, they almost did not even get their gear back..
Many Brazilians are not really helpful with US matters in general (long story).
That would not have helped either.

So for iRacing to get laserscanning in Brasil they needs a lot more politics and maybe even a little bribe here and there compared to get scanning a bunch of UK tracks.

Just hire some latin europeans to do the scanning if they feel not welcomed in Brazil lol which isn’t true. I for myself find that most countries hate american government and know to differentiate them from the ordinary americans. maybe the gear thing was a blessing in disguise as they can concentrate on signing new deals with other tracks in Brazil and some brazilian series and make the next trip much more complete. I read that the first time they went to brazil the guys didn’t have any the documentation needed to clear customs and Brazil has specific laws regarding typography equipment and iRacing wasn’t expecting that as most of the time American think the world will just bow down to it.

      • Anonymous

They used a contractor to ship their equipment who was supposed to be prepared for this sort of thing, and it turned out they weren’t. They knew they didn’t know anything about international shipping, which is why they hired the contractor who should have.

      • Anonymous

wow that’s interesting! But I saw some pics of them in the airport carrying those things as normal¬†luggage but¬†maybe I’m wrong. Still I get this as a opportunity for iRacing to include other tracks and some cars from Brazil and if they can squeeze Argentina in this then it would be fantastic!¬†

      • Anonymous

My understanding is the contractor was in charge of coordinating proper paperwork, compliance issues, local laws, etc. They may have still carried on equipment, with the paperwork provided by the contactor supposed to make it legal.

Unfortunately I’m betting iR is going to be gun-shy about south america now. Lots of opportunity there, but lots of risk, too. ūüôĀ I’m not hopeful about much there happening until they either get assurance they will be allowed to proceed next time, and even then maybe not until they’ve worked through their backlog of UK, EU, Aussie, and any new tracks first. As much as I would like Interlagos, the UK tracks and potentially Monza or a few EU top tier tracks would probably be my first preference.

      • Anonymous

The clock is ticking for them if they don’t bring something big for south america iracing might have lost that market for good pCARS, rF2, AC, GTR3, specially rF2 because once the modding kickoff it’s farewell iracing in that market. I think after the first fiasco they know everything they need to¬†proceed¬†with a formal import if not well….

what a shame Cadwell Park wasn’t included! Big let down by iRacing! ūüôĀ after Donington it should had been the next priority track in UK but as we know iRacing isn’t that much concerned what the community wants but just making the best deal for themselves.

    • Anonymous

I imagine that they asked but MSV either said no or wanted money, They know that a number of people would love Cadwell and its a great track, theres no way they wouldnt have tried to get it, at the end of the day we got some great british tracks coming our way and all of them will be a blast in 2018 when they are finished so its probably time to let go of that now! ūüôā

great news, i love this track ūüôā

  • Juanfra Valero

It isn’t sunny in UK. You could come to Spain, lots of sun here ūüėÄ

I got promtion code for iRacing. I would say the graphics is oldshool, I don’t like it. I wouldn’t pay for this game any pounds …
