GTPC for rFactor 1.0 – Released

After more than eight years of working on their masterpiece, the Virtua_LM Junior Team has released their GTPC mod for rFactor!

After more than eight years of working on their masterpiece, the Virtua_LM Junior Team has released their GTPC mod for rFactor!

Kicked off back in 2006 and originally aiming to just convert Virtua_LM’s popular Prototype C mod for F1 Challenge to rFactor, the project has vastly expanded over the years, becoming much more than just a conversion, transforming into what is possibly the biggest rFactor modding project ever attempted.

Prototype C brings a massive amount of cars from one of endurance racing’s finest decades to rFactor, centering around the 1983 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The mod includes both prototypes and GT cars, including 58 cars with a whopping 514 liveries as well as a custom UI. Despite being started as a conversion, all but three car models of the mod have been scratch-made.

Being developed for the rFactor platform, the team points out that conversions to other simulations are not appreciated!

Magnet-Link for torrent clients – I will be seeding all evening πŸ™‚

    • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Me too. I will seed for the entire week to come.

      • hexagramme

And thanks to the likes of you guys, I’ll have it too in about 20 mins or so. Thanks for the seeds, I’ll be seeding as well.

      • HammerX

Me too, seeding at max here.

      • DimDotKum

        Seed it baby.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I’ve managed to seed back 4.6Gb so far and I have plenty of bandwidth left even with Elite:Dangerous running atm.
But it can stay seeding as it’s much the quickest way to get it I reckon.

      • VK

As a resident of the west coast of the US, I was able to download the mod at the limit of my connection’s bandwidth. Mega is a great server for me. Of course, YMMV.

  • Jardier

Downloaded twice from Mega and twice failed at 98% :(((

  • Carlos Rodriguez

    Best. Christmas gift. Ever.
Downloading as I type. Looking forward to tear that LC2!!!
Congratulations for the release to all the team πŸ™‚

  • TC

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Manuel Riger

I was a big fan of rfactor 1 but since rfactor 2 got massiv physic improvement i go back to rfactor 1 last week and it felt like nfs shift πŸ˜€ I don t understand why teams still making mods for rfactor 1 and don t push rfactor 2 forward. But even if u don t like rfactor 2 why don t makes mode for gamestockcar than its rfactor 1.5 so this even makes more sense than rfactor 1.

    • Carlos Rodriguez

I reckon that since the mod was in development for rF1 way before rF2 appeared, shifting to a newer platform while making use of all its features would mean we’d got this mod by 2018 πŸ˜‰

    • DimDotKum

We’re lucky to get the rf1 version.

      • rci808

        true.

Thank you very much VirtuaLM Junior Team
A piece of Legend of Endurance Story available for all the Simracing community
I wish you a Marry Christmas, first gift recepted one day in advance.

  • Chris Wright

This is Christmas two days early for the entire community. Cannot wait to finish work for the holidays and post my thoughts.

I truly questioned if this day would ever arrive, but it has. The combination of the Virtua LM Le Mans tracks and these cars is everything I ever wanted from sim racing.

Wonderful, wonderful news and huge congrats to the entire team!

  • toyvonen

I’m still downloading, but i can say that one of my biggest dreams, have just come true at this moment…i allways thought they would release it, and i knew one day, i would be right!lol
To be 110% honest, i can’t say that i have the same expecttation i had 5, 4, 3…years ago, now RF2, and mainlly Ac have just raised the game in some depts, that i just find hard to miss when i got back to RF1, but if i think right, RF1 at the pear of it’s development, and maximum tweaked, like the one i have, with SweetFX effects (and other graphic tweaks), with RFE plugin, and other things, is not much behind those platforms, not that far, that a mod like this won’t compensate..THAT i’m sure! (besides, i know it’s just a mater of time, untill this mod or at least some of it’s cars, won’t be converted to those platforms also)

Jus finishing my 3+6 DOF, new equipment (steering wheel, pedals, etc….), now this…perhaps one of my best Xmas ever, at least the best since i was a kid and everything looked wonderfull…MANY THANKS to ALL the people that gave me this!

  • Richard Hessels

my hart skipped a beat.. i live to see the day that this mod got released!

    • Chris Wright

      +1

  • jbrown604

Is there a full car list somewhere?

  • kkacper

First the 787B for AC, now this for rFactor. And I have to work on a skin in the meantime. Busy Christmas but hell if it’s not one of the most enjoyable ones πŸ˜€

  • Sim Antics

    Thanks Guys~

  • Mariusz Hanc

Wooooow!!!!! This is my best Christmas for me!!!!! YESSSSSSSS!!!!! I love old Le Mans with Hunaudieres – this is epic era!!!!!!!!

  • Dave Simmons

I have work tomorrow but *cough* i suddenly *cough* don’t feel well….. πŸ˜€ Thanks to the Virtual LM Junior team πŸ˜€

    • ftrracingtv

There prob fire you if u don’t work on Christmas eve lol

  • Patrik Marek

never was a fan of rFactor, but these look great! looks like epic experience

  • Lasse Jakobi Ougaard

I have set up a server running the mod, it’s called “GTPC_Test” and Running VLM Le Mans 1979. Feel free to join – I’ll leave it running a few hours. πŸ™‚

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

So the rumours were true.. there IS a Santa !! Thanks guys. Mammoth effort which I’m sure we will see much evidence of when we race this.
Shame on any of you that had uninstalled rF1 already ! πŸ™‚

  • noneofyourbusiness

    Thank you

  • Diego Colafabio

Thank you very much guys, Merry Christmas! πŸ™‚

  • 2Air

Sadly i threw out rFactor once i had R3E, AC and Pcars.
Maybe the mod will eventually find it’s way to AC, that’ll make my day for sure!

Thanks a lot for the great effort

    • http://www.virtua-lm.cm/ Freddy Stapersma

      short answer. Not legally.

      • David Hughes

A conversion of an unlicensed mod would be an interesting legal case.

      • DimDotKum

It’s only illegal if you don’t like it.

      • rci808

A conversion of a copywrite mod would be even more interesting.

        Got lawyer?

        πŸ˜‰

      • whaletail

Publishing a copyrighted mod conversion could obviously subject the publisher to infringement claims.

Conversion for personal use might be protected by the Fair Use doctrine.

      • rci808

Are you even enjoying the mod?

      • David Hughes

Wouldn’t need one, that’s the point.

Don’t want to see the work of mod teams undermined by ripping, but also don’t want to see people being threatened with legal action by people who are picking and choosing which laws they follow themselves.

      • rci808

Best to just read the disclaimer provided with the mod and adhere to the creators thoughts on this product.

        Are you enjoying the mod?

      • whaletail

An unlicensed mod isn’t eligible for copyright protection in the USA or UK (or pretty much anywhere else), so a conversion wouldn’t infringe (nor would a conversion be otherwise actionable beyond the court of public opinion)

      • rci808

        Here’s the bottom line.

Will the ripped content be supported by the original artist?

        NO.

That would suck for the “rippers” now wouldn’t it?

Best to stick to the designed platform and let the authors take care of the details.

Hope you are enjoying today’s release.

        I am.

      • whaletail

I’m not sure where I implied my support for unauthorized conversions, but in truth, at the moment, I have no problems with unpublished, private conversions undertaken purely for personal enjoyment.

BTW, original artist support has nothing to do with the legal issues surrounding mods or their conversions.

      • rci808

Try running a server for online play with people coming to the server and getting mismatch problems with their unpublished trash conversion modifications and you will know exactly what original support I am speaking of.

        Carry on then.

      • whaletail

Again, what does original author support have to do with the legal issues surrounding mod conversions?

My opinion on unpublished conversions for personal enjoyment only extends to single player pursuits (and private leagues, I guess), where mismatch issues aren’t a concern.

      • Freddy stapersma

still it would be nice if it was asked the original creators. We gave permission in the past for leagues but let US decide.

sadly some of those so called private mods came online later as illigal mods.

      • VK

That is not true. Unlicensed artwork is produced and even sold all the time with full copyright protection. There are websites full of it.

      • whaletail

Though your argument is unclear at best, perhaps I should have been more specific.

An unlicensed mod, itself ineligible for copy protection, can’t successfully maintain a claim for infringement against the authors of a conversion. Original trademark holders, however, could pursue infringement claims against both parties.

Whether mods such as URD’s T5 and EGT run afoul of trademark law is, IMO, a much more interesting question.

Bear in mind, I enjoy these mods as much as anyone, and support the authors wishes concerning conversions, but the underlying legal issues are indisputable.

      • Freddy stapersma

        Illigal ripping kills mod groups.

We all know DRM, a great mod but the team decided not to move on before good
encyption was possible because of illigally ripping of their content.

The reason why our mod took so long is because we as a team decided it would kill
the will to create new cars if content was beeing ripped before all was done
and this mod would never have seen the day of light.

about copyright. This is my idea. The Coke bottle is copyrighted.

I can make a artist impression of That coke bottle and sell it for good money.

(I know a couple of those images that does.) That image impression is my
copyright. If you copy that. I CAN sue you for it.
Real use because real money is involved….

okey le’ts trun this into our mod.

I can make a artist impression of a Grid S1 and Give it aways for free.

(I know a couple of mods that did that
.) That Grid impression is my copyright. If you copy that and resell it I CAN
        sue you for it.
But no real use because no real money is involved….

We see every single car as a little piece of art. Ripping of content will kill
        our mod group.

        It is our little baby.
Please let US decide if, when, how this mod will or not will be converted. This is our
        goodbye from Rfactor1

We are planning something fort his mod wich
is still in the early stages.

So don’t rip our content. Please…..

      • Ghoults

But the models and artwork (skins and textures etc.) +all other text files are property of the creators and editing them and distributing them could be illegal. If some big company for example uses soemthing in their product that is not theirs they don’t suddenly lose all rights to their own product.

      • whaletail

You can’t copyright bits and pieces of an artwork, but obviously upon removal of the infringing material, the artwork would then be copyrightable.

That said, you raise a valid point, and having only studied two semesters of Intellectual Property law, I can’t reasonably comment on the subtler aspects of copyright law.

      • rci808

Have you even driven the mod yet?

      • whaletail

I have, and learning to drive the 934s is quite fun.

      • rci808

        They are a handful, indeed.

Try em at Mosport. Big fun.

      • Freddy stapersma

But would kill mod groups. Because there is something like fun to build this and it gets killed when people rip/steal content they worked very hard on.

      • Freddy stapersma

      • whaletail

Please don’t take this as an indictment of your mod, or your efforts, but your legal reasoning is, I believe, incorrect.

SATIRE is the exception that allows Andy Warhol to sell his Coca-Cola paintings, there is no “artistic exception” to copyright or trademark infringement.

BTW, infringement occurs with reproduction and public exhibition, not sales.

Again, I’m not in any way maligning your wonderful mod, nor am I advocating the public dissemination of any conversions. I’m simply arguing that, IMO, the above legal reasoning is specious.

        Michael Henke

    • DimDotKum

Do you do that with all your lovers? Sad… just sad.

    • Wazza

youll never be able to race it in AC as a 24 hour race …so theres no point

      • 2Air

i don’t have to race it in AC for 24hours to have a blast with a mod, do i…

    • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

How do you throw it out ? Surely it’s just a download away plus the email with your registration key on it.

No way am I getting rid of rF1 anytime soon. This mod just strengthens that. With DRM, Enuracers, HistorX on there, no to mention the few great F1 mods, it’s still some of the best immersion you can get.

This GTPC mod for example, best FFB I’ve felt in a looong time. Beats anything I feel in todays currents sims. The sounds are just crazy good too.
rFactor’s heart still beats strong imo.

      • rci808

Prime example of how the spirit can be exorcised.

Long live rF1. This was the missing link.

      • 2Air

well i threw it out because imo Game stock car was better in a lot of ways and (almost) all the mods apply there as well…

      • Kondor999

What wheel do you use? The FFB feels odd to me.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

        Fanatec GT3RSV2.

  • Carlos Rodriguez

Well, did some laps in random cars. It is freaking TOUGH. The turbo kicks like a horse, it spins and drifts all over the place. And the POWAAH!
The mod is also a history lesson for people like me, who didn’t know much about LM24 before the 90s. It’s amazing to see cars with such modern-looking aero solutions, such as shark fins.
The sound is astonishing, I recommend the 84 spec Lancia LC2 and any Mazda rotary-powered car.
Only complain is about the UI, I hate that style. But the mod’s so awesome I’ll let that pass πŸ˜‰
Congrats to Virtua_LM and merry christmas to all.

    • http://www.virtua-lm.cm/ Freddy Stapersma

We think this UI is muc better as the original one and almost essntial to make fast choices in cars for this massive mod.

      • Carlos Rodriguez

It’s only a personal opinion πŸ™‚ though it’s true what you say, having the car list, then the track list, then the session type list, is a faster way to get on track. I seem to be the only one who gets overly confused πŸ™‚

      • Kondor999

I love the UI. Massive improvement.

  • Janoy Cresva M.D.

    Great work. Thanks!

    • furiousgibbon

did you know I’m actually two doctors?

      • BackMarker

I must be a bad doctor since everybody keeps yelling at me that I have no patience (patients)….old joke! haha

  • HammerX

Will there be a release for Rfactor2? PLEASE? PRETTY PLEASE? WITH SUGAR ON TOP?

    • Gui Cramer

My (unhappy) guess to this answer is no unless they are willing or find someone, willing to remodel the cars to a higher resolution (polys) and potentially have to double (redo) the texture resolution. It’d be cool if that turbo smoothing thing in 3DS Max could take care of point #1 :p…. Or even if they only stuck to Group C!

      • VK

I see no reason for the cars to be remodelled and textures redone. They both look great to me PLUS being able to race with a grid of 50 cars is a very high priority that does not need to compromised for a little higher resolution.

      • Gui Cramer

It’s great for you that you feel that way.

      • VK

Isn’t it though. As a member of the team, I see little reason for doing a whole bunch of work for so little return on the investment especially when it necessitates compromising the performance. The guys on the team either have families or are students and we don’t have the latest and greatest PCs. We also like to recreate endurance races of the era so the mod does not have the poly count and texture size budgets that console games have where the starting grids have maybe a dozen cars on them. Le Mans of 1983 had 53 cars on the grid and recreating that was and is a high priority for the team. Also – this is a mod made for racing. Looking great in close-up screenshots was a very low priority, yet I think it succeeds quite admirably at it.

      • Kondor999

I hear what you’re saying, but the FFB in rF2 is worlds better than in rF1. It’s not just about eye candy, as you seem to be implying. IMHO, rF2 doesn’t look all that much better anyway:)

Congrats on the mod. It’s amazing.

      • Gui Cramer

It is a nice surprise ingame! The cockpits show their age but it’s better than expected. The gargantuan attention to detail on “lesser” series of certain years is amazing.

    • Roma Ljubchik

Yes, i guess. But, only after 10 years

  • DimDotKum

Thanks for posting a torrent because I don’t want to support my brother’s website.

    I love you guyz!

    • rci808

      lol….

  • VK

I just love those cutaway renderings. You can see some of the internal details that are actually modeled on the cars. HarryCS did really great work with those. With damage enabled you will get to see those in the game when crashes happen.

  • DimDotKum

    oh yeah baby…

    • gt3rsr

Have you got under 6:11 yet?

  • http://www.zeeandco.co.uk Ian Johnstone

Well this is just great isn’t it. Mazda/Muira now this, all released when I’m supposed to be spending more time with the family. I feel a divorce coming on.

    • rci808

Imagine the last 8 years for the gentlemen (with wives) who were making this gift.

      πŸ™‚

      • http://www.zeeandco.co.uk Ian Johnstone

        yep your not wrong

  • gt3rsr

….and my GPU’s just died. (seriously, it was an aging HD4850, but still… so it’s holiday without simracing – a dismal vision for many, I know)

But I am not absolutely overwhelmed by this announcement. Why? Maybe because it’s some 6-8 years late and most hype left me a long time ago – anyway, thanks for this mod guys, when I see those screens, my motorsport heart still jumps with honest joy.

    • rci808

Fix the GPU and come play.

      It is fun.

      πŸ™‚

      • gt3rsr

Maybe I’ll try to bake it :-P…. I’ll see, I have nothing to lose anyway.

      • kahel grahf

        Had a hd4870 that wouldn’t start: overheating issues…
I just changed the thermal paste and it solved the problem…
I would try that before baking it…after that, sure…bake the damn thing.

  • Patrick McTie

Perfect timing! I’m off work until Monday!!!!!

  • gt3rsr

This is probably the rFactor’s swansong, so enjoy it.
But it’s maybe also a monument that will last forever…

  • http://www.zeeandco.co.uk Ian Johnstone

Yeah and I’ve got mother and father in law and God knows who else to pamper after over the Christmas period. Trying to sneak off for a quick race here and there isn’t going to be easy.

    • rci808

      10-4 to that.

  • Chris Wright

It being so close to Christmas, I got a lot less track time tonight than I’d hoped for. Enough, however, to know that this is the most incredible mod. How many years have we waited for it and now it’s here. It doesn’t disappoint either.

The word overwhelming springs readily to mind. Simply mind boggling attention to detail and, frankly, right now I can’t see me straying far from this for the entire Christmas and New Year holiday race sessions.

Sure, there are more modern sims and the AI is never going to be what we want, but rF1 is an otherwise very solid performer. It always needed this mod to elevate its stature and, as late to the party as it may be, right now it feels like a perfect combination.

So much more to discover. I really couldn’t be happier, because GTPC is absolutely the painstakingly accurate Group C era replica I have dreamed of.

Quite possibly the greatest moment in all of sim racing history, for me at least.

  • ftrracingtv

Having not run rfactor for a while what tracks would u recommend

    • Chris Wright

Download all the Virtua LM tracks. Tailor made for this mod, especially the three versions of Le Mans.

    • Freddy stapersma

we have done AI training for all VLM tracks except of 90/93 lm track.
so we hope the ai will be better as normal.

    • http://iamkittx.blogspot.com/ KittX

try ’em at Bryce too πŸ˜€

  • http://www.twitch.tv/bacho_grande John Bacho

Quick notes from many hours of testing today:
I’m finding that a few cars wander on the straights, especially when they get to 150+ mph. Ones I’ve tested that do this: LC2-83, WM 83, De Cadenet Lola, Mazda 717C, Alba AR2.

After watching people on servers, it’s not just me. The only solution I’ve found thus far is to add PACKERS; that at least makes it less of a struggle to maintain a straight line.

Also, all Mazda engine cars have a strange doubling effect at top revs with two distinct notes going in different directions. The WM 83 has a turbo sound that continues to spool up over and over at max rpm.

We had a few CTDs while hitting ‘Start’, mainly in the BMW M1 and Lancia LC2-83 thus far.

Thanks for all the hard work, Virtua_LM Junior team, I hope you continue to improve the mod if there’s additional work to be done.

    • Freddy stapersma

I’ll ask our physics guy. and sound guy.
      thnx!

please spcify wich cars caused CTD.

Hello. I programmed the physics. The cars you mention which are unstable on the Mulsannes straight are that way to be historically correct.
The 717c and LC2 in 1983 were particularly problematic for the drivers at Le Mans. The main focus of the 1984 Mazda 727c was improved straight line stability. The 1983 LC2 had a very unsure front end, particularly under braking. Hence there were so many rear end variations; to try to improve under-body air flow.
The way to improve the straight line stability is to increase differential preload to the highest settings, add rear wing, add rear toe and run the front end parallel.

      • Chris Wright

Amazing attention to detail. Thank you so much for all your hard work.

      • http://www.twitch.tv/bacho_grande John Bacho

Thanks! Though the LC2-83 doesn’t have preload to alter, the increased rear toe & higher wing (since it doesn’t have effect on the overall topspeed) helped a bit. Still, the max packers setting is what made the biggest amount of difference for overall stability.

So you know, the Qualification engine for the LC2-83 causes a mismatch (even to my own server) to LC2_83LM_phy.hdv — Works fine w/ the LC2-84.

Did the real car have 100% Pump, Power and Coast?

      • Alex David Hodgkinson

The cars which can have Le Mans specific bodywork ie. the 956 longtails and the lc2s in Le Mans spec have a Le Mans setup by default.

The packers are best avoided as a setup option. What you’ve done there is made the car run on the bump stops down the straight with no suspension travel like a kart. It’ll make it quite unpredictable through the Porsche Curves. You should try raising the ride height as much as you can, and play with the front/rear ride height balance. Try raise the front more than the rear.

The real LC2 ran a spool rear axle (no differential) yes, just like the 956. Initially it didn’t, but in an effort to stabilize the rear end the team swapped to running one.

Setups are nothing magic – they’re quite limited on purpose, to reflect history and also for user friendliness.

      • http://www.twitch.tv/bacho_grande John Bacho

I’d love to make that setup change, but the ride height is locked for the LC2-83.

      • Vivemclaren

Just little question about mismatch problem. Have you locked upgrade?

Maybe it comes from that. LC2-83 Sprint works with Qualification engine?

      • http://www.twitch.tv/bacho_grande John Bacho

I tried it on other servers as well. But no, I don’t have ‘fixed upgrades’ enabled. On the servers I mismatched,

I also tried the ‘1000km’ package as well as Qualification for other cars (956, LC2-84, etc) that worked fine. Only the LC2-83 would hdv mismatch on the quali engine.

      • rci808

        Corrupt download.

V1.0 works like a peach at the team server.

      • Chris Karsten

I agree I am not good at setpups myself, and I have no idea how to fix what a car is doing.

With that said some help with this would be nice.

  • stef4o23

I just wanted to give a massive, enormous, humongous thank you to the modders and anyone involved in this project! So.. THANK YOU!!!!

    • Chris Wright

      +1 on that. Sensational mod.

  • spjk

Is it possible to have some basic setups for the cars?

  • Justin Cruze

Well done guys – and a big THANK YOU!

  • Sigmatc

Thanks very much for this awesome mod.

  • Kondor999

I’m having some issues sorting out the FFB, but I’ll figure that out. What I don’t quite get is the very slow steering I’m seeing on my TX wheel. Even at 540deg (which I thought seemed about right for these cars) the steering feels really slow. Increasing the degrees in the setup helps slightly, but it’s really at odds with all my other sims (including other rF1 mods).

Is this intentional? To be more specific, I’m trying the Lancia LC2 (favorite car of all time, btw – Thank You) and it’s just incredibly difficult to counter steer and such because the steering is so slow. I also tried a Porsche 934 and it was actually worse in this regard. Any suggestions or explanations would be most appreciated. Thanks for this incredible mod!

    • http://www.twitch.tv/bacho_grande John Bacho

I’m hoping they consider adding more steering lock than 12 to 16 degrees for the Prototypes. There’s all kinds of wheels and rotations used in the community; it’s one of those realism elements it might be worth bending on because of the myriad sim setups.

    • Alex David Hodgkinson

Greater steering angle and the wheels stick through the bodywork. It’s not realistic. What wheel do you use Konder999? I programmed the cars and use a Logitech G25. I will share my controller settings on our FB page soon.

      • Kondor999

It’s the TX wheel. Just feels really slow and the on-screen wheel doesn’t move a lot even at full lock. Something weird here. Maybe I should take a video?

      • Justin Schmidt

go into your controller.ini. (rfactor/userdata//controller.ini) search “steering wheel range” and change the number to 540. now your on-screen wheel should work correctly. it’s probably set to 270 right now.

      • Kondor999

Ah, that worked! Thanks so much. It was actually my lack of experience with such realistically depicted cars that was the problem. I’m gaining proficiency with the Lancia LC2 – a real beast with the locked diff!

Such a great mod. The LC2 in particular is a car I’ve been waiting to drive since I first encountered it in the old mod for F1C.

    • Justin Schmidt

steering angle on 16 in the 934’s setup is correct for 540 degree rotation. the real car has a steering-ratio of 17.5:1. actually 15.9 in the setup is correct but who cares about that 0.1 degree!

      • Kondor999

Thanks for the reply. It’s the Thrustmaster TX wheel. I actually still have a G25 on a wheel stand (and a CSR Elite attached to my old Xbox360 rig, but I digress). Of the 3, the TX is by far my favorite.

Perhaps I’ve grown lazy or something and I simply need to practice more. Knowing that 540deg with 16 steering angle is historically accurate tells me this is likely the case.

        I will keep at it!

  • BackMarker

I will get try out this mod when rF1 hits steam!
    : )

    • The Dark

i cant believe you are waiting for this that might never happen.
have you never experience the big mods in this game? its part of a sim-racers experience to have played those πŸ™‚
i would hate to be a sim-racer that has not extensively played historics mod, drm mod and enduraces mod and now this. or samples vlm tracks.

you really should make the effort to get this and those other mods. i cant imagine you would regret it for one moment.

  • Gabriel Zamponi

Stupid google chrome blocks my download when it arrives at 100% …

    • Gui Cramer

Click on Keep, avoid the discard option at all costs.

  • Alex White

Thank You. The amount of effort and work that has gone into this is mind blowing. πŸ™‚

  • horrace

Merry freaking Christmas to me, just got me my internet back and look at what I get, yes I have virtualr.net on every speed dial that I have Whooooooooooooooooooopie! Thanks guys Thank you for all your hard work!

  • kenpat .

Many thanks to all the team for this great mod. And Happy Holidays to all.

  • aldkdh

These don’t seem to be realfeel enabled. Can’t help but be disappointed. Oh well.

    • ftrracingtv
      • aldkdh

        I didn’t say realfeel wasn’t ‘installed’, I said it wasn’t enabled.

      • Justin Schmidt

works like a charm with realfeel here. checked the steering arm forces with motec to set mine up. it’s ~8000 to ~10000 on MaxForceAtSteeringRack(in realfeel.ini) depending on the car. not at my sim rig so i can’t give exact car specific numbers right now.

      • aldkdh

When I run realfeel I can tell there is interference from the native rFactor feedback. Its the same ffb you get w/ any mod that’s not made w/ realfeel in mind in my experience.

      • The Dark

you can adjust the mix of realfeel and rfactor ffb. i think its right ctrl and numpad 1 and 3.
there is a document for it which shows you. probably in the download of realfeel.

      • Dani .

I think it works Ok. Maybe you have to config ini file of rfactor, no interference for me.

  • WorldYappy

Great job. Your dedication and perseverance are admirable. I’m sure the whole community can come together and enjoy this gift just in time for the holidays.

  • Pablo Schmukler

Huge thanks to everyone involved. The mod is formidable! CanΒ΄t stop driving now…

  • The Dark

i have tried a few cars already and i am not happy.
i planned to do so much other stuff over the holidays and you just ruined it for me!

rF1 still going strong and if this mod doesnt prove that then check youre still breathing. anyone holding their breath over the mulsanne crest? πŸ™‚

fantastic work guys. the sounds just pull you in so much. thank you for this gift and all your hard work to bring it to us.

  • Ian Hare

Reinstalled rfactor very recently but forgot to apply the 4Gb patch, silly me!
    Merry Christmas everyone.

  • Ian Hare

A BIG thank you to all involved at VLMJT!

  • http://www.zeeandco.co.uk Ian Johnstone

You know what, a thank you is just not enough. This has to be the greatest mod ever released for a sim. Drm, Enduracers, Historix and The Power and Glory are fantastic mods, but even they won;t get a look in after this. Just wish Virtua_lm released more tracks, but I’m just being greedy. For all at VLMJT have a fantastic Christmas/Holiday season, you truly deserve it.

  • wezroz

Beautiful just beautiful , all the teasing was worth the wait πŸ˜‰

    • http://www.virtua-lm.cm/ Freddy Stapersma

how did you say that on a sertain forum about us teasing???
      LOL..

  • http://www.zeeandco.co.uk Ian Johnstone

Try bigsilverhotdogs ENBSERIES 1.4 if you can find it or try searching BSH ENBSERIES for a great lighting enhancement for rfactor, it really makes a substantial difference. Make sure to use 4gb patch and +fullproc or framerates could take a hit.

    • http://www.virtua-lm.cm/ Freddy Stapersma

Yeah I used that myself a lot too. but not for this release.

  • Dynamitry

    arghhh… runnnnning to reinstall rFactor

  • Adrian Hunte

    are there any templates yet

  • osella

Insane list of cars, this will get me back to rf1 as soon as possible.

  • Alex Darg

is it just me as i seem to be having huge graphic problems with some cars , there all jagged etc ? some races are fine but most are badly effected . i have a clean install of rfactor ? really stumped as i seem to be the only one having trouble

    • rci808

Try lowering graphic detail in game or try smaller grid (less cars).

make sure your rfactor is running on dual proc.

    • Alex David Hodgkinson

Did you apply the 4gb fix?

    • Lasse Jakobi Ougaard

I had that too before the 4gb patch in fields bigger than about 25 cars. The patch fixed it for me.

  • Richard Hessels

I love this mod.. Been driving many hours with big joy. Thanks for all the effort releasing this gem. Only one little thing.. why are the mirrors so dark when they are on the shadow side.. makes no sense. Mirrors are great in reflecting light.

  • http://www.zeeandco.co.uk Ian Johnstone

Does anyone know how to get rid of that wheel gun noise you hear when starting/racing around certain tracks, i.e Imola 1991 is a good example, or is it something I have to live with, like the control F issues on certain Siverstone editions, to cure the flickering screen problem.

    • rci808

      Remove Ambient from Sounds folder.

      • http://www.zeeandco.co.uk Ian Johnstone

        Thanks for your help

  • Alex Darg

Thanks for the info applied t 4 gig patch on a clean install and so far all ok
What a great mod a long time coming but worth it . Convert this to AC or RF2 Please ,Brilliant just Brilliant Well done ………………………….

  • horrace

All the naysayers what say you now, just kidding I was just driving it yesterday, and I needed three pounds of dynamite to get me out of my rig, what a nice mix of cars, and some drive better than I thought and some drive just as scary or worse that darn 934, If it anyone has vids of how to drive that beast proper please let me know, that car has skinned my but so bad, but I will not surrender. Nice work guys and thanks for the best Christmas present for this year!

  • Dani .

Brings back to me the old rf1 feel, when racing with some online, electrifies my spinal columm.

To me for now, rf1 for the win.

    Nice job Virtual LM.

  • Ronny Nunez

The game keeps crashing as soon as I enter a server or start an offline session. I applied the 4GB patch, any ideas?

    • rci808

      Try a rebooting system first.

      New fresh install if rFactor?

      New player profile?

      Could be a corrupt download.

      • Ronny Nunez

Fixed it. It was the TV Overlay Plugin which kept crashing the game when the mod was used for some reason. Thanks for the reply though.

      • ftrracingtv

That TV Overlay always crashes rfactor with some mods I would just get rid of it for good

  • Professional Operator

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

    They did it.

I waited this mod for 18 years, and I missed day one release. A Classic!

    Happy Racing to everyone!!!

  • Lumpster

A big heatfelt thank you to all involved with this magnificent work of art. It has pulled me in and immersed me like no other mod has. A true passion for this era of cars and racing has something to do with this, but you guys have nailed it on this one. BRAVO!!!

  • Joe Grover

I get an error on all Porche 959 textures. Anybody have any idea how to fix this?
This mod and THAT specific car is what brought me back to sim racing after not launching my rig for over a year. LOL

    • Joe Grover

      Here are the errors:

Error loading texture P956SUEDE1 for Material P956CPIT2

      and at next:

      Error loading global material P956CPIT2

      • rci808

        Configure rFactor for DX9.

Sounds like you are on DX7.

      • Joe Grover

        Yep. That was it. Thanks.

      • Paul Huyse

I have the same problem, how do i configure rFactor for DX9?

      • Joe Grover

I can’t remember the exact name and I’m not in front of my rig right now but you are looking for the configuration utility. I believe you can find it in the start menu for rFactor. You can also find the exe file in the main folder for rFactor. When you run it, it launches the utility and you can set the DX version in the popup menu.

        I hope this helps.

      • Paul Huyse

Thnx, i found it in the root directory, works perfectly now!

  • Shannon Hendrix

I tried to download the track pack that was posted, but cannot unzip it. ANy ideas?

    • rci808

      Is it a .rar file?

    • Joe Grover

Where do you find the track pack?

  • mjbonner70

Just wanted to thank Virtua_LM for this amazing masterpiece. Time disappeared tonight somewhere in the Porsche Curves in 1984 in the Rothmans 956. Not sure how, but It became 1:30am before I even knew it.
So atmospheric. So alive with feel and vibrations, an amazing time machine. A privilege to own a copy. Free? I can’t believe it either.
    There really is a god.

  • mjbonner70

One more thing….The sounds….. masterpiece! Those cars roar!!!

  • Robert Burns

Great mod…but I need an answer to this if anyone has one. The record books say the 956 reached 220+ mph down the Mulsanne…I can “only” get to 204 mph. What am i doing wrong?

    • Robert Burns

      Disregard. Figured it out.

  • Golan_Trevize

The mod is fantastic but can somebody please tell me how to get the AI to use the qualifying engine in qualifying? I’ve tried selecting the qual engine before and also during the race weekend but the AI 956s just keep using the race engine.

  • Jason Madigan

I just installed this after adding my rFactor to Steam, I must say, this is extremely impressive … even by todays standards πŸ˜€

  • Jarryd

can someone please comment with the link for the apparent 4gb patch? Thanks.

  • Miles B (Cubicus)

    I couldn’t install it because there was a virus…

  • LOLserver

Ups, 2018, I know I am very late on it :-/, just found this awesome mod, downloaded and installed the VLM_GTPC_v1.00, however, I can only use a few cars offline, game crashes after loading the track. I am running DX9. Is there any fix for this problem?, regards, Eric
