GRID Autosport is primarily developed for the PC, interestingly Codemasters have decided to skip on the next-gen consoles. The title will be available for the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on June 24 (US) and June 27 (Europe) respectively.

  • HammerX

Thats a lot of cars, I wonder if they all will drive the same?

    • HardRock

Even in GRID 2 there were minute differences between the cars (in weight, suspension, front/rear grip, acceleration, top speed, etc.), even in the same tier, so I’d expect at least that much from GRID:A.

  • Alejandro Gorgal

It’s a really cool list, though Im a little sad by the omission of the Corolla on the Drift class.

  • ftrracingtv

whats the Super Lightweight Cup i tried to google it but nothing

  • Birddogg66

and how many of them will be locked? I bought them I want to drive them day one! Locked content is fine for a career mode but there needs to be the options to use any car on any track in a free race style mode. If this is not the case for Grid Autosport I’ll be chewing your ear off (codemasters) about it for the next release since this seems to be a recoup title from less than projected sales for Grid 2

    • Ricky Davies

There will be a cheat of some sort if they are not unlocked straight away, i would of thought.

      • Anthony Birch

        as there should be

      • Birddogg66

No there should be no need for a cheat to have the ability to use the content that you pay for. You should have the ability to use all content from day 1. Granted a career mode needs to have locked levels as it is based on progression but individual content shouldn’t be.

      • RKipker

Always hated this is FM4 as you buy all this game and can not drive the cars you want…. of course I have 300M so I can and have driven all cars but it took some time!

      • Anthony Birch

dont like locked levels or Career mode to unlock cars. its too restrictive for those that arent good drivers, and lets face it everyone who ‘pays’ for the cars should be able to ‘drive’ ALL the cars

      • David Wright

It depends on your psychology. Career modes exist for a good reason. It would be far easier for a developer to leave them out.

For many people, unlocking items is actually a big incentive to do the races in the first place, and if you don’t come high enough to do them again and improve. In the end you get far more play out of the game, and will probably end up driving most of the cars.

If you are given everything all at once there is much less incentive to complete a series of races, so you will play the game less. You may jump straight in the “best” car and ignore all the others you’ve bought.

Its just like a first person shooter. You could let people play each level in any order and allow the player to have the BFG from the get go. Or you can play the levels in a logical sequence and gain in weapons as you play the game, getting the BFG to fight the boss monster at the end of the game.

    • Rudolph van Harn

for quick race, or in grid autosport called custom cup, are all cars and tracks unlocked. you can drive every car

    • todemanjack

I think they saw an opportunity when pCars announced, a year ago, that they wouldn’t be on the older consoles! A chance to ride the swell of anticipation created by pCars. And fill in the gap left by their more advanced, more hardware intensive game. Pretty smart marketing timing, as they started “autosport” one year ago.

      • RKipker

I as a Sr. Member was disappointed pCARS dropped the 360 since no good wheels really available for Xbone…. and the fact that the 360 really needs a great racer…. and is far from dead!

      • Hugo Stiglitz

If they were smart, they would’ve made this game for PS4 since PS4 literally has no racing games until october.

Grid Autosport would’ve sold really well on PS4. Better than PS3, PC, or Xbox

  • Richard Pittam

I envisage a lot of DLC incoming with this one. Don’t be freaked out, it’s just an incredible psychic ability I have.

  • todemanjack

Remove drift cars and double the Endurance cars. would have made me happier. Is drift really that popular? Why do I think it’s stupid, like wearing your pants way below your hips and showing your underwear. Slowest way around a track and burns up your tires instantly.

    • Mar Mar

There are two Camaros while there is zero Corvette

      • Brandon Miller

Right? Well at least RF2 and AC will give me my Vette fix.

    • Bakkster

Yes, drifting has a pretty solid following. I’m no fan, but I won’t knock people for having different preferences. Knocking drifting for being slower than the racing line is a bit like making fun of figure skating because they’re slower than speed skaters, lol.

    • HardRock

Keep in mind that historically drift cars in GRID were pretty good for racing as well and vice versa, even FWD cars could be used to win drift events in career mode. Basically GRID uses the terms grip and drift to tell the player if the car will tend to understeer or oversteer.

  • Richard Tough

Nice solid car list there, same with the track list.

Its got a good ingredients list, lets see what they do with it. Pre-ordered. Grid 1 was fantastic, Grid 2 I didn’t enjoy but this is shaping up well.

  • pez2k

Interesting to see that they seem to have finally lost their DTM license from back in the TOCA Race Driver days, what with the ‘Cat B Special’ C63 and RS5. Not even Forza could use those three letters on its ‘M3 Racing Car’, it seems Simbin’s license must be exclusive across all platforms.

    • T0MMY3688

Cat B Special C63 and RS5 are based on the Euro V8 Series, not DTM.

      • pez2k

        Ah, my mistake.

  • Rlee

Sweet my Dodge Challenger is in there. Must buy for me.

  • Raymond Schram

A pretty nice list. Though I wish the open wheel category had some more cars.

  • e_r_n_i_e

Do Codemasters have an exclusive license deal with Aston Martin? I wonder because other racing titles like rF2, AC, R3E or pCARS doesn’t have Aston Martin cars, which is kinda disappointing.

    • HardRock

Forza does however, and if I remember correctly there was at least one Aston in SHIFT 2 as well, so whatever license Codemasters have it can’t be an exclusive one. It’s more likely that the developers of those other games you’ve mentioned simply didn’t think that an Aston license to be too much of a priority or the it would have cost too much for them.

      • e_r_n_i_e

Yes, there are a few older games which have Aston Martin, e.g. Shift 1& 2 and GTR Evolution. But i was wondering who has the license right now. Turn 10 maybe have a console-only deal for Forza.

      • Upay

Could it be they just ask for a lot of money? Prestige brands probably pull that card often.

      • StuartBecktell

I don’t think anyone has an exclusive license, they just have a license.

  • FIGHTONtoVICTORY

    no Subaru 🙁

  • Hugo Stiglitz

How is it primarily developed for the PC when they sell more on console?
