The public beta of Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo Sport title is due to close in four days time.

First reported by various Twitter users, access to the beta will fold for all users on July 16 as Gran Turismo Sport moves towards its still-unspecified late-2017 release.

Since March, a select group players in various territories including the US and Europe had access to continuously updated beta builds of Gran Turismo Sport.

Gran Turismo Sport will feature 170+ cars, all of which have been built from the ground up as the studio is ditching their controversial standard-car practice of past GT titles.

Furthermore, GT Sport will also 19 different tracks, among them Nürburgring Nordschleife, Brands Hatch, Willow Springs and the new Tokyo Expressway have been confirmed.

Aside from supporting 4K resolution and HDR, GT Sport will also offer limited Playstation VR compatibility thanks to a “VR tour” mode.

The best thing about GT sport is GT academy.

Is it? 😛 The last two (UK) comps they’ve selected the fastest guy on day 1, in the last competition all the competitors were slower at the end of the comp’ (after all their brilliant driver training) than they were on the first day.

It’s great for Jann Mardenborough who got a racing career out of it, but I think overall it’s a bit of a gimmick. The Gran Turismo element adds nothing to it, you might as well just get a random group of entrants, as they did with the Dunlop Cup thingy years ago (where they were selected by random).

lol that’s prity typical of scholarships and comps not based on raw performance.

Maybe I’m wrong but it seems like GT sport has dubbled down on all the wrong things. They should have focused on car unlocking presentation interesting game modes car upgrades and car modding combined with an arcade but solid handling model that allows for a nice drift mechanic but is very stable and works well in third person with a game pad.

From all outwards appearances including the games name it looks like GT Sport is trying to be a “simulator” and “Esport” first and “game” second.

I have a suspicion that Pcars 2 is going to totally spank them in this regard + likely also have better all round graphics and it also looks like Forza 7 will spank them in the “top gear the game” regard. Though that’s a different platform so maybe they don’t care.

Its a shame because a ton of work goes into these games and there is a load of nice content in GT-sport just seems the actual game design of the title is utterly lacking.

Maybe I’m wrong and when it comes out it will be surprisingly good and stand out on its own.

Having played Gran Turismo 5 & 6 a fair amount, it’ll come out lacking loads of features, they’ll patch it to within an inch of its life and then it still won’t be complete until the next game. Then we can wait years and they’ll repeat the cycle for the next batch of games.

Lol , I feel sorry for the devs they are probably worked to death. I wonder what it means for GT if this is not received so well. I think its a shame there wont be a drive club 2 as DC1 had potential once patched.

on PS4 Project Cars 2 will have more tracks than AC+GTS+F1 2017 combined
(Probably the same thing on XB1 by replacing GTS by Fm7)
