Gran Turismo 7 – “Out in Year or Two”

Kazunori Yamauchi reveals that Gran Turismo 7 for the Playstation 4 could come much sooner than expected.

Both Sony and Microsoft launch their brand new consoles this winter, the companies have different strategies regarding their marquee racing titles though.

While Microsoft wants Forza Motorsport 5 to be a launch title for the new Xbox One at all costs (so much that most of the game will actually have to be downloaded off the internet to allow a maximum of development time until the launch), Sony’s Gran Turismo will make one more visit to the trusted PS3 platform.

This does not mean that Playstation 4 buyers will have to wait very long for Gran Turismo to get the next-gen treatment as well as GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed the following in an interview with the Japanese Famitsu magazine:

The PlayStation 4 game which we’ll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two, I think, and I think the community aspect’s going to be vital there as well.

A release of Gran Turismo 7 within the next two years would be a significant step up in development pace as three years passed between GT5 and GT6 while the platform change from Gran Turismo 4 (Playstation 2) to GT5 took even six years to complete.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…

Try telling that to George W Bush 🙂

Ummm… well, we won’t get fooled again!

That’s a saying in Texas I believe. It’s probably in other states too.

  • traind

The intent is positive but “a year or two, I think” coming from Polyphony Digital is kind of like “probably 2-3 years” from another developer.

It’ll be easy, similar to GT5 and GT6, most of the cars will still be from GT4, so its easy to make a new version.

And 2-3 years from another developer is really 4 in reality.

      • Yabba

and 4 in reality is 6 in this post

  • Hurdy Hurdy

All GT7 will be is a port of GT6 and some added weather effects.

I am tired of these 1000 cars games, when there is only 4-5 cars that are worth driving. Make more tracks dammit.

    • andrew84555

True. I think we all would be more impressed with a constant stream of new premiums rather than polishing the standard models again to make up the numbers.

    • StarFoxySxv550

There’s only one 1000 car game, the number of lesser-car games far outnumber them. Not sure how you can be tired of them when the choices are far in your favour.

I’ll agree with you on the tracks though. I think they should add more even if they are fictitious, if they pump out enough fakes, there has to be a few decent ones in there to suit tastes.

I’ve stopped buying GT. Yes, the models are well done, but the gameplay is tedious and boring. You have to race endless times on the same few tracks in order to get the really fun cars. Just make every single car available right away and maybe I’ll be interested.

    • Hugo Stiglitz

Car collecting is one of the biggest things that makes Gran Turismo fun. Cars being available right away just devalues them

      • Luciano

To shortcut the game, I’ve edited the gamesave with everything unlocked.
Suddenly, there was nothing to do.
In rFactor 2 for instance that has no content, I keep doing never ending sessions in the same 2 tracks with F1.

they must fix fuking good realistic sounds to car ,, i watch videos on youtube , bmw z3 gtr sounds like traktor whit braken turbo ,, the guys from sony have problem whit ears they think they have improved the sound. sick, they

  • Chris Karsten

Well the 1000 car statement is overrated.

Just look up the car list for GT5 and look at the absolutely ridiculous number of: Nissan, Subaru Mitsubishi and Toyota models.

If you are a league of legends player , you must not miss this riot points code generator grab it while it’s still up to date

  • PetrolheadDen

Coming out so soon would make me leery about whether it’d be worth it over GT6.
