Game Stock Car Extreme – Version 1.50 Out!

Reiza Studios have released the next free update for their Game Stock Car Extreme title.

Reiza Studios have released the next free update for their Game Stock Car Extreme title.

The new version introduces the Mitsubishi Lancer Cup Series and the brand new Velo Cittá Circuit but also introduces some major changes in the code-groundwork for the new title as well.

Starting with version 1.5, GSC Extreme comes with its own in-house compiled executable, allowing the team to get rid of all external code injections via DLLs.

Since this is a major technical change, Reiza Studios have released the following checklist so users can make sure to avoid any problems when updating:

  • You MUST create a fresh player profile (delete the old one from \USERDATA) otherwise the game won´t launch.
  • After creating a fresh profile, make sure to double-check your driving aids & controller speed sensitivity to make sure they match what you had before.
  • Since there are several new parameters for both cars and tracks, it is possible that some MODs will not work 100% and will need to be updated to use the new features (please consult this thread to learn you may update your mod).
  • If you get a crash on startup, make sure you have installed the DX9.0C that comes with the game. (by running \Support\DirectX\Install\DXSETUP.exe)
  • If you do the above and still crashes, try deleting d3d9.dll from the game´s root folder.
  • GSC Config & Dedicated may not launch directly from Steam (needs to be done from game install folder).
  • For the steering rotation feature – All Logitech & Thrustmaster wheels with adjustable rotation should be working with this feature. Fanatec wheels should too, except for the V2 wheelbase which is still in development.
  • If you have any of the supported wheels, it is recommended you set Enable Custom Steer Rotation to NO from OPTIONS > CONTROLS, and let the game customize the appropriate rotation range for each car.
  • In case you do not have a controller with adjustable rotation, OR if your steering wheel is not yet supported by this feature, you should set Enable Custom Steer Rotation to YES, and define how much rotation range you have in your controller in the setting below – the game should then work same as before (with any adjustment per car done manually both here & controller profiler) and STEER ROTATION SETTING in GARAGE1 menu will have no actual effect.
  • Please note that in either case, using old controller presets is NOT recommended – we recommend you start one from scratch.

Changelog

Cars:

  • Adds Mitsubishi Lancer Cup Series (Lancer R & RS models, recommended to run with TC & ABS on low as per the real car)

  • AI drivers now use 8th gear & DRS
  • Added “Opponents Filter” option to quick race menu (for multiclass racing)
  • Replaced AI aggression UI slider with a set of presets low-to-max (max being 50% aggression in old currency to prevent AI misbehavior in overly aggressive settings)
Fixed bug with other cars occasionally “inheriting” 8 gears, DRS functionality from F-Extreme
  • Fixed championship scoring bug
  • Fixed grid position setting when qualifying is disabled
  • Fixed performance issues with the SuperV8
  • Revised pit menu rules & pitstop timing for all series
  • Fixed bug with AI behavior being over aggressive with the throttle on corner exit leading to occasionally losing control
  • Revised AI performance for all cars (balancing for consistency from car to car, track to track, session to session)
  • Updated ambient, curb, road & grass roll noise for all cars
  • Revised aero & tire physics in all cars
  • Revised real-feel values to reduce FFB clipping
  • Tweaked alpha channels in skins from Metalmoro MR18, Opala86, SuperV8, StockV8 series to reduce excessive shiny look
  • Minor graphical optimization
  • Fixed bug with Safety Car entering the pits in Curitiba Oval
  • Fixed behavior of driver labels.

Game Stock Car Extreme is now available for 27,99€ on Valves Steam platform.

Existing owners of the pre-Steam version can get a Steam key here, while switching is not required it is recommended by Reiza as new installs will require a Steam key.

    Noice!!

  • Franklin Stegink

    great news.

  • pez2k

Good to see the automatic steering rotation feature built in now – for me that’s one of the biggest ‘next-gen’ sim features even if it’s just a quality of life improvement. It irks me a little going back to rF1 without it so it’s nice to see that Reiza have been able to add it to their own isiMotor branch now. I look forward to the next update!

  • Christopher S. Temperino

they need to add more laps.

    • The Turtle

You choose race time instead of laps. The sim allows for 24hr races.

      • Christopher S. Temperino

It’s not the same as laps. I would like to do oval races with the cart mod.

      • quf

But are the laps limited to 5? I remember months ago no matter what I tried to change 5 laps was the maximum.

      • The Turtle

        Are you thinking of Assetto?

      • quf

lol stingy.. In AC the laps number is limited to fuel capacity/consumption for the AI cars selected for the race. So for example you can do 20 or 40 laps, depending on the track length vs AI, but on Nordschleife depending on the car, the AI can do just 3, or 7, so on.

I’m telling you, not long after GSCE came to steam, no matter how many laps I selected, only 1/5 would show up on the lcd mode. But as a test I just tried and selected 30 laps. Then in game showed me 1/30, so is all fine.

I guess you interpreted my post as provocation to GSCE, whereas I only wrote a situation that happened to me.

      • The Turtle

No, I didn’t think it was a provocation. I just thought you were mixing up the two. I was mis-remembering Assetto having 5 or 10 laps max.

      • quf

It was 10, but then since 1.1 they changed max laps based on fuel cap/cons.
About SCE, maybe it was from a championship with stock cars. I think I selected “% track default”, and then no matter how much I increased the race laps percentage, all races had just 5 laps.
So next time I do a championship there, I’ll just define laps or time, and not use track default setting for race length.

      • Hash

Na that’s crazy why would they limit to 5 laps, anywho I ALWAYS use time in sim racing, as can manage race(pit timings, time accelerated, tyre wear etc) and my sim race time better with timed racing, far better option than a set number of laps that require knowing track and car combo lap times, for race management.

      • Gui Cramer

I thought the lap limit was 100 regardless of anything.

  • pcarsphyxexpert

Are Reiza adding arcade cars to the “sim”……

    • Anthony Birch

who cares, at least they are releasing stuff.

      • pcarsphyxexpert

Great intellect and sim racing mentality…..look forward to further conversations.

      • Anthony Birch

        yep, i thought so

      • pcarsphyxexpert

        Actually you forgot to think.

    • Leynad

From the video-discription: “Both the Lancer R & Lancer RS are the first AWD cars in the simulator . The cars are notoriously stable, allowing the driver to focus on maximizing his lines and driving as fast as possible. “

      • William Mazeo

It’s a “school class” here in Brazil. You get some lessons and they let you drive the R (manual) in a race. Pure focus on gentleman drivers

      • Leynad

Seems similar with the BMW M 235i Cup and other VLN-classes here in Germany, but easy handling must not end in a boring FFB what´s unfortunately my impression of this Lancer. Or is it just me? Just checked the V8 (which i liked before) and the FFB feels just awkward and wrong. Much to high resistance without counter force the hole time with no details anymore. Something seems broken, at least with my Accuforce and i´m running full Ingame-FFB.

      • William Mazeo

        2 possibilities:
This FFB is how the real thing works. Because Reiza has contact with those guys.
Or it just has a problem for now and will be fixed in near future

I think people are just senseless on the complaints right now. Can’t expect Reiza to be able to fix stuff imediately, they are a studio with less than 10 people. Plus once stuff go out of beta is when you see where the problems really are, but it seems some people think that coding is the easiest thing on planet. Or they really believe GSC is just a mod for rFactor.

      • http://conticreative.com/ Mario Strada

Speaking as a programmer (but not a game programmer even though I have some idea of how it all works) non programmers usually don’t have a clue of how things work. To them it might as well be magic.

If I had $1 for every time I was told “Facebook has this feature can we have it to?” I would retire rich.

      • William Mazeo

Exactly that. I just studied a bit of Python and saw how easily everything can go wrong and the time it takes to fix.
That’s why people in this area aren’t paid well, everybody else thinks it’s just magic xD

      • Leynad

That are no reason to break things that was working well before and they have enough testers that even paid for that privilege. I’m not playing this title much, have a non-supported wheel so it’s maybe just my problem? My wheel feels tight like in a car that isn’t moving or very slow.

      • William Mazeo

“That are no reason to break things that was working well before ”
Except the fact that they removed all code injection and made their own code in this build…
Do you even read the patch notes?
Still relevant “but it seems some people think that coding is the easiest thing on planet. Or they really believe GSC is just a mod for rFactor”

      • Leynad

“Except the fact that they removed all code injection and made their own code in this build… ”
Then their code sucks at this point in terms of FFB and hopefully it´s just a minor bug. Checked out some other cars and they feel all terribly awful. Even the FFB in Forza is shining against it, pCars is on another planet and AC in another galaxy. I don´t care how complicate coding is, i´m just a user and it´s impossible to undo an update on Steam, so they should care that their updates aren´t a huge disappointment. People play it one time and when they have a FFB like mine, most wound start it ever again if they have alternatives.

      • William Mazeo

Try to build anything in your life then we talk.
If it’s so bad go Pcars or AC dude, simple solution.

      • Leynad

You don´t know me or what i build in my life. Why getting so personal? You don´t even deny that the FFB is crap at the moment so i think, it´s better to address issues so they get fixed instead of talking BS about the hard life of coders.

      • William Mazeo

No personal, it’s just a simple thing:
Buy it and use, or just don’t. I love capitalism. 😀

      • Leynad

I bought it already and still hope they get this fixed. When i checked the V8 after the release, i was amazed because the FFB was as good as in rF2. If they now starting from scratch, i think they will loose this game of capitalism.
PS: Dirt Rally update is coming:D

      • William Mazeo

        I don’t like Dirt Rally. D:

      • Leynad

So you don´t like Rallye. And by the way, my problem just seems to be a bug.

      • William Mazeo

Logitech wheel? Here whenever there is a bug I just have to open the profiler and press Ok in any of the config windows, it makes miracles lol

      • Leynad

No, but my speakers are from Logitech. It´s an Accuforce Pro, and it don´t have to do anything with VSync or Antialiasing.

      • pcarsphyxexpert

Yo, he’s offering constructive criticism, something sane people value, so quit BS comments.

      • William Mazeo

        Good for him

      • pcarsphyxexpert

Yep, Mitsubishi have built gravity defying machines for the blue collar worker.

    • Silvio

You should change the quotes from “sim” to “arcade”, because this game IS a simulator and these car ARE NOT arcade.

      • pcarsphyxexpert

        How heavy are these cars?

  • pez2k

ABS, TCS, AWD, aero, and set up for amateur racers – it’s practically an ‘arcade’ racer in real life!

    • William Mazeo

Of course dude… it’s a school class basically. People move to Porsche Cup after this one I believe.

      • pez2k

Don’t worry, I was agreeing with you – just saying that it’s intended to be fun and easy to drive so you can concentrate on learning racing, which ironically is what people often call ‘arcade’.

    • jotaf1df

This video made me want to run with this car now on this track, really looks like funny. Thanks for share it.

  • TC

    Great update.

I really like the new Lancer cup. I think it could be a great championship’s car for new simracers, or simply to have close battles. And Velocitta is a magnifient track, extremely funny.

I will also want no say that Patrick G (from RD) has released Monza and Spa, both highly updated, and he has made an outstanding work on them, he deserves to be noticed.

  • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Was looking forward to this. But, after deleting my profile, as instructed, the game simply refuses to launch. Any ideas?

    • The Turtle

      http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/stock-car-extreme-v1-50-released.112891/

Looks like all problems with failure to boot after update have been covered in that thread.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Covered, perhaps, but unfortunately, not solved. I deleted the player profile, I re-installed DX9 and deleted the d3d9.dll from the root folder. Nothing worked. The game simply won’t launch.

      • chandni_R

I had the same problems. Try deleting ReizaGSC.dll from your plugins folder.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

I’ve heard of this fix as well. Unfortunately, that file is not in my Plugins folder. 🙁
        I think I’m heading for an uninstall/re-install.

      • The Turtle

After reading the release notes I figured I would save time and hassle so I backed up user data and completely uninstalled and then reinstalled using steam. Worked perfectly.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Yeah, I think that’s the path I’m headed down but not today. I’ll get to it later in the week.

    • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

mine didn’t launch until I deleted the d3d9.dll as instructed.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Yup, did that too. No luck.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

This might be a silly one but did you re-run the gfx config ?
Also if you’re running from Steam, try verifying the local game files.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Yeah, I’m a step ahead of you on that one too. Verified the files. Found an error with one file, fixed it, re-ran verification and it verified fine. Tried to launch the game, no luck. LOL. It’s cursed. I think I’ll be uninstalling and re-installing. Oh well.

      • quf

is the resolution that is set to very low, so you need to open the config tool and select the correct one. And also put ‘auto’ instead of dx9. If you can’t open the config tool, restart steam or pc. But the config tool needs to be open from the folder not from steam library.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

These are all good suggestions. Tried them all. None have worked. I’ll be doing a re-install and starting from scratch. Thank you all for the input.

    • Alex Sawczuk

If you’re still having problems get in touch with me via twitter or RD and we’ll see what we can do.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Yes, I’m afraid I’m still having problems. I uninstalled from Steam yesterday and re-installed but the problem persists. However, I noticed after uninstalling that there was still over 4 gigs of files in the SCE folder under Steam. Should I completely delete that folder before re-installing?

How do I find you over at RaceDepartment?

      • Alex Sawczuk

Same username, send me a DM and i’ll take a look.

      • Alex Sawczuk

It was a webroot issue, fyi of anyone having problems.

  • Dani .

My game went from 60-120 FPS to 150-360 FPS same conditions on full settings, something was wrong in my config (and was a clean install). Rfactor did that with directx9 dlls too, I don’t know what it was in this case, but lucky me.

  • Ian Hare

After trying all the fixes applicable on troubleshooting page still nothing?!

    • Alex Sawczuk

      Do you run webroot?

      • Ian Hare

Thanks, it is running fine now!
