Game Stock Car Extreme – Released

Reiza Studios have released new content for their Game Stock Car title, announcing a name change and future plans for the GSC franchise.

With the release of the new 1.15 version that introduces both the Formula V12 car, 1988 version of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as well as the Floripa track, Game Stock Car 2013 is renamed to Game Stock Car Extreme as more DLC content for the title is planned.

This update and future content will be free for all owners of Game Stock Car 2013 (not including the original Game Stock Car & 2012 update!), the new version features the following changes:


– Added Floripa race track + 4 kart layouts;
– Added Montreal 1988;
– Added Interlagos Historic external ring layout;
– Added Formula V12 (field currently limited to 4 teams and drivers for v1.15 – more to come in v1.20).

General features / Bug Fixes

– Added fix for CTD when qualifying sessions are turned off;
– Added options to switch qualifying off and manually set grid position;
– Added fix for pre-race grid reordering functionality (for Dedicated only);
– Corrected flag animations flapping widely when a time acceleration is in place;
– Support for realtime steering wheel rotation adjustment from the Controller menu (min 180º max 900º);
– Adjusted default rearview height / width;
– Minimum vertical FOV setting adjusted from 35º to 10º;
– Adjusted default shadow updates, sky update frames for smoother shadow transitions;
– Executable now is set to include +fullproc by default (for better performance in modern CPUs);
– Tire compounds may now have different textures (configured using cockpitinfo.ini file – see F-Reiza for example);
– Driver name labels have been adjusted and relocated to a less instrusive look (still requires some tweaking).
– Series RFMs have been made available for editing;
– All series now have its own RFM, with the adittion of an ALL CARS / ALL TRACKS component (to be used wisely – don´t expect AI karts to work well in race circuits or race cars on kart tracks!)


– Fixed issue with invisible walls in Caruaru;
– Improved alternative cloudy sky texture;
– Fixed sky issues with Cordoba and Brasilia;
– Improved AI paths for Cordoba and Jacarepagua 2005.


– Slightly improved F-Retro onboard sounds;
– Speed of sound adjusted from 290 m/s to 340 m/s (for slightly more realistic doppler effect);


– All cars have received a brake temperature response curve adjustment to generally provide better and feel and be less susceptible to lock-ups;
– F-Retro tires slightly adjusted;
– Kart rear toe slightly adjusted.

Along with the release, Reiza has outlined the plans for future DLC content, including:

While all these additions are confirmed to be already in development, Reiza also has plans to add fundamental new features to the title, including live dynamic track & weather, a new tire model simulating dirt, graining, blistering & flatspots as well as a new transmission model.

To help fund these in-depth developments, Reiza will soon be unveiling a crowd-funding campaign so stay tuned for more on that.

    Will they be using a brand new game Engine, or will it be still using the Gmotor engine.
    This just sounds like a simbin2 adding ‘Extreme’ at the end of a old title doesn’t make it new, recycled recycled.

      Who cares what engine is used when the sim is good? And GSC is the best of the current crop IMO, whether or not is uses a very old engine.

      I would certainly not want Reiza to switch to rF2’s engine if it translates by getting 30 fps average on high end computers with environment looking like complete garbage (like rF2)

      I really want to know if they can make all those things (dynamic track, new tire model, weather…) in gmotor2 engine.

      For me, it would be ok, i love how GSC looks, but i got my doubts about engine’s limits in those questions.

      I guess they’ll reveal that when they unveil the crowd-funding campaign.

        Simbin put in weather, livetrack, animated pitcrew and driver arms to gMotor2 over 7 years ago. I am a gMotor2 fan but it desperately needs a modern graphics engine and multi-threading.

        Well said, that’s what I mean, I meant no harm towards gmotor engine sims, we’ve had them for 7yrs now maybe more, it’s time to progress and modernize or go the way of the dinosaurs.
        Simbin and slightly mad studio knew this, and created their own modern racing simulation engine.

      I also think if they were to merge with 2pez and recreate that material with the same standards that are Reiza that would be quite good as well but we can’t expect what we think is right will happen or not.

        Well I had all 3 of their games but lost them with the death of trymedia also Super league Formula as well but I am still hoping ISI may reacquire that title

      Agree about Steam although hopefully they would keep independent digital distribution alongside it. It’s fair to say that some people really hate Steam and it would be a shame if they were deprived of this great game.

    Reiza Studios continue to extract every ounce of goodness from an older game engine. Thank you for making such a great game. When they finally move to a newer one I’m sure they’ll bring the same quality to it.

    Didn’t realise the min vertical FOV was 35 in this, that’s kind of surprising, very high, even for large screen size close to you! Glad they patched that.
    I’ll have to get this when my pc is sorted 🙂

    Does this (and rf1 based titles) have proper angled multi-viewport triple screen support? i’m thinking not, but then maybe it’s an ini based option?

    There’s absolutely no problem with milking an old cow, in terms of continuing to develop quite old base code. It is a policy that has served iRacing very well indeed.

      Well to give iRacing credit and some out there know this is difficult for me to do iRacing has an excellent lighting model and there graphics are still pretty darn good.

      Yes, Reiza are doing a great job. However, I don’t think this comparison is totally valid as iRacing’s code base is fully theirs whereas Reiza are starting off by using the rFactor code base so are presumably limited at some point in what they can do with it.

      Iff you already have the GSC2013 you can simply run the GSC Sync that you can find in the root folder.

        I actually wanted to keep GSC2013 alone because of all the mods I have got there. So I moved the sync to another folder, but it didn’t work.

        Maybe I should just go for it. It’s taking forever.

        EDIT: I just run sync in my GSC2013 folder, but it took only 5 seconds to update. Doesn’t seem right.

        you have to run gsync twice.

        This runs long while calculating file size.. anyone get the update this way?

        You might have finished now but I’ll say this anyway.

        As has been said you need to run it twice. The first time it “sets up the big update” or something (or maybe it updates the sync program, can’t remember exactly what it did), then second time it downloads the files.

        Also, it shouldn’t remove any mods. I only have a few tracks but they stayed so I don’t see why any mods would be removed (apart from mods that replace original files, I suppose).

    So glad I invested in this game, their work is top notch! Ran the Gsync and it updated without a problem and all my track & car mods still work perfectly! I hope they can get the backing they deserve because they really know what they doing!

      I guess we know when they launch the crowfunding-campaign, but it makes sense reading the new features they want to add.

      Frankly, i wish they could do something else. I like a lot Rfactor 2 real road, some car physics, ffb…but the engine “fails” (to me) in many other things, and i find it terrible in terms of visuals.

      Reiza got my money in any case…

        Rf1 also is good “only” at some cars physics, ffb and looks good only on some tracks (made by modders many years after rf1 release). GSC extracted the best of rf1 engine though, so what’s the problem?
        Rf2 engine would be absolutely perfect for GSC successor imo.

        Anyway this is pure speculation at the moment and won’t happen for a long time.

      Maybe, maybe not – with all the fees there is no guarantee that it well sell more copies, enough to cover the added cost.

    I only had 2012 so bought 2013 last night for this. Expected to download 1.15 but got 1.10. Very strange, anyway, another 5gb odd to download and I can finally play. Worth supporting Reiza anyway for only £15.

    Did anyone else’s cameras go wonky after the update? All the cameras on the Formula V12 are unusable, the angles are off and the cockpit cam is right up on the little windscreen. Does anyone have a way to fix this?
