A Fresh Look for A Fresh Start

Providing virtual racing news for 10 years running, VirtualR is back with a major overhaul.

Back when the site was reactivated a week ago, many of your rightfully pointed out that VirtualR was in dire need of an overhaul. Too many parts of the site had not been updated in a long time as the age of the design that Rob introduced in 2011 was showing. With the site in its tenth year, it was time for an all-new look to bring VirtualR into 2017.

What’s New

  • Fully responsive design that works flawlessly on all devices, mobile or desktop
  • Clutter-free frontpage layout with streamlined ad integration for improved readability
  • Infinite-scrolling layouts on the front page & category pages (because clicking “Next Page” all the time is so 2010!)
  • Snappier site performance thanks to lost code ballast
  • Color-coded categories for easy navigation
  • In-comment advertising removed

A few little things here and there might change in the coming days as we fine tune the new look. If you spot a bug somewhere on the site, please let us know in the comment area so we can look into it.

We hope all you long time readers enjoy the new look and if not, give it a few day to adjust to it. Either way we would like to get as much feedback as possible, so please comment away below.

  • Brownninja97 .

The new look seems very slick.

Once again though, I would very much appreciate if those who are now looking after the article postings would please contact me at [email protected] ?
    Thanks.

Been as you are/was a mod, one would have thought you would have been informed of all the changes going on at VirtualR.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

        Yeah you’d think.

      • JamoZ

        Guess you got banned…

  • melanieuk1

Wow I must be a mind reader, didn’t I say the links on the right was dead and out dated, and VirtualR needed a new lick of paint, and what do we have here.
    Very slick and modern, Niiiiiiiiice.

    R.I.P VirtualR

    • tourettchen

Did I miss something? what do you mean?

  • Erhard B. Jussen

    good!

  • joe pineapples

    I like it

  • Michael Wagner

Since the collaboration with ‘Sligthly’MadStudios this site went downhill. And though it’s nice to have a good website design, I mainly would care about good content… We miss you Rob! I hope the situation will get better for you step by step, we all should never give up hope… ‘See’ you here back again, God bless you

“Since the collaboration with ‘Sligthly’MadStudios this site went downhill.”

And what a coincidence, as a unnamed site closes, VirtualR re emerge.

      • JamoZ

        Good riddance…

      • Bakkster

Seems reasonable to assume it could be the same reason for both shutting down: request from the mutual employer not to engage in editorial commentary of industry news.

    • quf

How can you say in the same post that the site went downhill since the SMS collaboration and at the same time say “we miss you rob”. That’s two opposing ideas. When rob is the one who collaborated with sms and at the same time making articles here on virtualr.

      • Michael Wagner

Well he could go back to his independent roots

  • wajdi nujeidat

Good looking site! Please be more neutral than the previous staff.

    • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I guess you want less Assetto Corsa articles then.

  • Slim_Boy_Fat

I like the new look and it’s good to see the site back up and running.

  • MC

So who has the site been sold to?

  • vilivili

Glad that this comment platform/solution stayed.

  • Filip Carlen

    Ohh, fancy!

  • Tim Wheatley

Good to see the site back, and thoughts still with Rob and whatever is going on there. An online persona often shows nothing of personal struggles. Best wishes.

  • AnklaX

    Good to have VR back

  • quf

The website on smartphone loads slower than before (used to be way more fluid) and also compared to pc; it happens when you enter the site and then even slower in the articles, especially the comment section. Android 7 with Firefox browser.

  • Patrik Marek
