Does anyone know if the CS Handbrake is supposed to be compatible with the CSR Elite pedals? I thought there was a handbrake port on them…

    • steve30x

Theres no handbrake port on the CSR Elite pedals. Theres just the PS2 port to connect the pedals to your whell or USB port to connect the pedals to USB.

      • Bimmer

Obviously you don’t know what you are taking about if saying only PS2 and USB port. CSP doesn’t have extra port beside PS2 and USB either. It has this port where ports for accelerator, brake and clutch is located. Someone with CSR Elite pedals can check. At least in some point of time, there was such port.

      • steve30x

For your information I have the CSR Elite pedals and there is no Handbrake port. Theres just the PS2 port for connecting the pedals to a Fanatec wheel and the USB port to connect the pedals to USB.

      • Bimmer

So what revision board do you have? For example on the first picture, there is a place for handbrake, just the connector isn’t soldered on. Anyone can do that. And on the second one, there is connector connected. http://www.jeffpinard.com/Loadcell1.png

Why the hell is this necessary?

    • Me

New shifter only worked with Fanatec wheels. Now it’s USB so works with anything. (Right?)

      • Anonymous

Correct (I assume you were asking for confirmation when you said ‘Right?’, Right? :P)

  • Anonymous

And people were giving Thomas hell about compatibility with other wheels.
So all I can say is Ace pulled from sleeve!

  • Slaven Ćorluka

pure money grab. Just like apple releasing iphone 5 with different connector.

  • Anonymous

€ 19,95?? It’s illustrates the way Fanatec thinks about the customer. Asking idiotic high price for a simple piece of hardware wich shouldn’t have been necessary in the first place. What is the profit of this? at least 3 times its whole sale value I think.

    • Slaven Ćorluka

the worst thing is some people are calling thomas a saint for coming up with such thing when the truth is this was planned all along to extend the profits from already expensive piece of hardware. This shifter has been expected to work as a standalone just like frex, dereks and TH shifter. If anything include the adapter with the shifter for people who don’t own fanatec wheels.

      • StarFoxySxv550

“This shifter has been expected to work as a standalone just like frex”

        More asumptions.

      • Slaven Ćorluka

Assumption? They made their pedals stand alone that are priced similarly why not make the shifter same way? Assumption or no assumption this is not the way to treat customers especially people who don’t own fanatec wheels.

      • StarFoxySxv550

Probably wasn’t made that way as to add more unnessary expense for existing fanatec customers. a $20-30 dollar discount on the clubsort pedals would be nice wouldn’t it?

      • Slaven Ćorluka

I don’t care that it costs $20. Its not the money that I have problems with its the principal that they should have made it standalone in the first place. This was purposely done to make money its just people fail to see that. If they took the shifter as is include the adapter in the box and raise the price by $20 I would be fine with it hense my first comparison with what apple has done with iphone 5 and people raging about it because there was absolutely no need for it. I would love for someone to make a diy how to bypass the stupid $20 adapter just to stick it to fanatec or even better make their own adapter that is cheaper, but I guess that would be copyright infringement.

      • StarFoxySxv550

Product you want is in one of my other posts. $45 from basherboards

Continue with your conspiricy theories. “The money doesn’t matter, but the fact they’re charging for it does”

Esentially they’ve given everybody more options both from a contentivity and pricing point of view, but it still isn’t good enough.

If you think the a standalone version including this hardware wouldn’t have added to the RRP of the shifter you’re most likely very wide of the mark. It’s you think it would suit you better if the shifter was standalone from the begining. Essentially you’re asking for this hardware and functionality for free. The shifter wasn’t built or priced for you alone, it’s expensive enough as it is.

      • Slaven Ćorluka

And I am the one talking conspiracies here

“If you think the a standalone version including this hardware wouldn’t have added to the RRP of the shifter you’re most likely very wide of the mark.”

You sound like you work for Fanatec your self but the truth is you don’t. That adapter is not something that for a company like fanatec would take long to develop. Everyone knows this. Hell I have seen people make their own G27 pedals adapter for fanatec wheel with just cutting ends of 2 different cables and attaching them together but fanatec still charges $5 for it but in this case those were at least developed with the right mind set to help G27 owners. How is this for a conspiracy, someone like Derek who is most likely one man show, makes a sequential shifter that works as a stand alone and you are telling me fanatec couldn’t have done the same?

      • Bimmer

I don’t understand what is your problem. How could making an adapter be purposely made to make money? It’s quite the opposite. If they would have made it standalone in the first place, shifter would have been almost as much more expensive than the adapter alone. In that case they would have earned a bit extra money even from the persons who don’t need adapter, but at the moment they only earn from them who wants it to be standalone. Your logic is a bit off.
Fanatec themselves basically said that they could have made it standalone with no problem but they explicitly didn’t do that to charge extra from their current loyal customers.

      • Slaven Ćorluka

you are kidding with that last statement they made right? Extra $20 on a $150+shipping shifter is peanuts and I don’t think anyone would have cared and would have been a deal braker for someone who likes the shifter. Also first time there was any talk about the shifter thomas said they will try to sell it for around $100, I guess that didn’t happen either.
How can they be making money from the adapter? Lets see. Which is the most sold wheel on the market? G25/27. How many of other users have other wheels such as T500, DFGT, etc etc? They wouldn’t have been making too much extra money if fanatec wheels were dominating the market but they are not. For that reason alone people are asked which is majority in this case who want to get this shifter to pay extra $20 when it shouldn’t have been done in the first place since fanatec has made stand alone wheel addons in the past.

      • Bimmer

As for the last statement, I’m now quoting Thomas from facebook “In fact, the adapter solution makes the CSS cheaper for all Fanatec wheel owners”.

I think you should grow up. If it doesn’t make a difference price wise, who cares whether adapters is extra piece or built inside the shifter. All that matters is that you have the option to make it standalone, so why cry about those little things.

$100 would have been impossible, because it is all metal (aluminium), which isn’t cheap. At a $100, plastic is the only way to go.

      • Slaven Ćorluka

I am just saying making it a option could have been easily avoidable and shifter being extra few bucks wouldn’t have bothered anyone. Just don’t like to be taken advantage of thats all but at least I have a option of getting a different shifter all together. Also I know $100 was a wishful thinking by everyone when it was first mentioned.

      • StarFoxySxv550

Suprise **This IS the option** lol

        Standalone CSS = $180
        CSS + Adaptor =$180

      • Slaven Ćorluka

how is it different? You need fanatec adapter to use fanatec product. Sounds same to me. And btw thrustmaster has a standalone shifter last time I checked. Their pedals come with a wheel together where in fanatec you buy them as separate package. Their old pedals that used to come with a wheel did not work as stand alone. Anything else?

      • StarFoxySxv550

        You just don’t get it.

      • StarFoxySxv550

Common sense = Fanatec employee? I
t’s probably a requirement if you work there, but I don’t, I can assure you. lol

    • StarFoxySxv550

“at least 3 times its whole sale value I think.”
Nice asumptions. What is the price of the alternative hardware you’ve found?

    • Michael Hornbuckle

A business that makes a niche product for a small handful of users is trying to make money; we can’t have that can we? If you are a sim-racer that is considering buying this you probably have a $1000+ computer, couple hundred or more in your wheel and pedals, couple hundred for the shifter and yet $20 has your panties in a wad, really?

Maybe sim racing is too expensive of a hobby for some of you; might be better off just buying a basketball.

  • Ghoults

Do you need one of these for each fanatec gadget? If you have the hand brake, pedals and shifter do you need 3 of these?

  • Tom Coombs

Hey yeah guys. How about something like this to make our Fanatec wheels work with the Xbox One?

    • Realkman666

Why would anyone buy an Xbox One?

    • posi x mosh

      Licensing bro….

  • nem0

This post says the CSR Pedals are compatible with the adapter, but the software for the adapter doesn’t have any options for pedals. Is there any plan to enable this in the future, or am I going to have to wait for Mr. Basher to return to get an adapter?
