Empty Box recently released a very helpful video for all sim racers struggling to find the right settings to get most out of the computer controlled opponents.

Using rFactor 2 as base, Empty Box shows everyone a few tweaks on how to improve the AI experience. Even though his video uses rFactor 2 as an example, she shown tweaks can be transferred over to other simulations as well.

Thanks for the video, very informative. Just wondering, what racing sims you find yourself racing most lately Empty Box?

    • Matt Orr

Hi Matt, would you mind sharing a couple combo’s you are enjoying currently on rF2? I spent some time with the URD mod @ Daytona, because 24 hour ish. Good fun, but curious what you combo you are frequenting lately.

      • Matt Orr

I’m currently running the Flat 6 pretty much entirely.

Thanks for the reply, Matt. Cheers!

Me too, it actually brought me back to rf2.
I didn’t have such a smile on my face for ages.
I just love it all around.

I prefer the Porsche, McLaren and Corvette in the AM FIA GT3 Mod since the latest update, but apart from the McLaren you have to setup the cars well and also bumpers for more bumpy tracks like Oulton Park. I don´t like the Flat 6 that much apart form the FFB because you can´t do anything with the suspension which is way to soft and unresponsive on smooth tracks like Valencia. The AM Porsche is IMHO way better and incredible how the FFB can change with the suspension setup apart from the handling. And my favorite rF2-track is Nordschleife 0.6. It feels like laserscanned:D

Nice work EB, makes some great points about AI settings and should be required reading for anyone racing offline against AI.

Doesn’t have Rf2 (& Rf1) different AI drivers and files for them, and as an internal option at least rf1 has AI learning. I thougth Rf2 AI learning is better and active allways, that means the more you run in one track more accurate the AI will be, but maybe it’s not like this. Anyone?

    • Matt Orr

Yes, but it doesn’t really change much. What talent files do is ensure certain drivers perform certain ways as well as help break up the field and give them some minor variance.

AI learning is more for the line they take.
