Polyphony Digital has released new previews of their upcoming Gran Turismo Sport title for the Playstation 4, showing off the new photo mode.

Made using the photo mode feature called Scapes, the shots show Gran Turismo Sport cars in picturesque settings, blending virtual cars and photographic scenery.

Gran Turismo Sport will feature 130+ cars, all of which have been built from the ground up as the studio is ditching their controversial standard-car practice of past GT titles.

Furthermore, GT Sport will also 19 different tracks, among them Nürburgring Nordschleife, Brands Hatch, Willow Springs and the new Tokyo Expressway have been confirmed.

Aside from supporting 4K resolution and HDR, GT Sport will also offer limited Playstation VR compatibility thanks to a “VR tour” mode.

The title will be exclusively available for the Playstation 4, Gran Turismo Sport will be released some time in 2017 after the original release date of late 2016 has been called off.

I know these are just from the photomode, but they look unbeliveable.
few years back if I did these as CG render, it would be considered really well done ..
the fact that these are coming from real time engine ( eventhough the shots themselfs are not real time ) it’s really amazing

If you erase the GT Sport logo…I dare people to say those are car renders placed into a real photo. Lights, shadows are just close to perfection. Woow.

Don’t have nor plan PS4, but I played all previous Gran Turismos and these shots are pretty impressive I must say. GT always had a nice way of working with light, or something. Not overdoing things.

I don’t see the point. Why would you have a race car in an alpine setting or a GT car on a gravel road? And then what do you do with these pictures?

    • Patrik Marek

well, it showcase their engine, eventough it’s boosted from the actual gamplay which of course can’t match this , what’s the point ?.. well, ask that all the people take screenshots in any racing game 🙂

Looks fake. Like a lot of hobby renderer do: place a CG-car into a fake photo background and hit render button.

You should apply for a job at PD and show them how it’s done……

Why should I show them how it´s done when they did it already in two previous titles (GT4 and GT5)? They went from real 3d environments to fake environments with wallpapers.
