Is that an ECCI Steering Wheel?…maybe that’s what you need to get decent FFB wheel / road feel.

    • Patrik Marek

nah, Fanatec CSW2 will do as well , but yeah, it’s not good on toy wheels

      • ImageArtSigns .

Yes you are correct…my T300RS is not that good in this game…magic in all other sims I have…or maybe I just have not set it up right in pCARS

      • RapidRefund

Well comes down to personal preference and what you want out of feedback from the wheel. For me it’s fine even on the ancient Logitech Momo Black I am using ATM for personal reasons I care not to explain. However I am one that doesn’t need and overly active wheel with regards to FFB so I don’t have a problem. Also my reasons for doing this hobby chances are differ from yours. I tend not to try to start wars over it anymore but some out there that just have a negative outlook on life in general make it difficult for me and I choose not to engage myself with them with a response most of the time. However you have always been fairly constructive and always respected.

      • ImageArtSigns .

Apologies if that sounded negative or trying to start something as it was not ment to.
I was hoping someone may provide a link to some tried and tested T300 set ups with the last part of my post….’or maybe I just have not set it up right in pCARS’….possibly a bit to cryptic 🙂

      • Patrik Marek

        I don’t think you understand,
it’s not about setup, it’s what you expect from FFB, and because other games – like AC – use canned effects, it might feel good and familiar, people are used to it, so when there is something different – directly derived from the wheel/tires, people are not used to it and that’s why it’s bad and wrong

on my CSW2, pCARS feels great, I really like it. AC feels different and not my preference , but that’s not to say that AC FFB is worse , it’s just different and not my preference

      • ModernTimes2

There are quite a few threads around, but it can be a bit random… Perhaps this is a good starting point:
        http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?35147-Baseline-FFB-values-Linear-FFB-Google-sheet-Universal&p=1110954&viewfull=1#post1110954

      • RapidRefund

No a lot of my post was to call out some of the more non sense stuff in the thread and wanted to be sure you didn’t think it was in anyway directed at you. I for one have driven pCARS with CSW 1 and 2 G27 and Logitech Momo and I get an acceptable experience with all of them. Which is why it comes down to personal preference what’s good for me may not be for other individuals but the on going Trolling some of these people do has just gotten very old and worn out. Just like their hopes of having a successful life. Again in no way directed at you.

    • GamerMuscle

I have used that ECCI wheel on the same rig and in my opinion the OSW and AF wheel are far better, way more responsive and far less mechanical dampening feel to them.

      • RapidRefund

What Motor with the OSW? did you test the Mige?

      • GamerMuscle

        the mini Mige, felt fantastic.

      • RapidRefund

Part #????? Model #???? Ali URL????

      • Rob Herridge

        I LOVE MY ACCU-FORCE!!

  • Marcel

do we have to thank him for the lack of proper ffb? duck and run 😛

    • todemanjack

pCars deserves plenty of criticism. But in my opinion the FFB, tire model combination is the best of the three popular sims.

      • Marcel

        o.O ok

      • erictheking87

Those 3 sims… you mean pCars, Forza and GT, right?

      • JERACERX

The thing is Pcars is isn’t directly comparable to Forza and GT, it’s in this wierd place between “console sims” and sims like iracing, AMS, etc.

      • RapidRefund

Well if you want to sum it up the difference between a training simulator and a gaming simulator and an arcade game and there it is in the middle a gaming simulator.

      • Rob Herridge

Omg Forza and GT? Sims? No no no no no noo

      • RapidRefund

Yes they are Sims with a lower level of realism, but they do simulate racing or is their some new different meaning between Simulation an Sim I didn’t know about?

      • Michael Hornbuckle

I just finished a bad race, and was in need of a good laugh. Thank you for providing it.

      • RapidRefund

Did you run over some Longhorns??? Lost control due to cow dunky on the tires?

    • Leper Messiah

define “proper” ffb, in all objectivity PCARS HAS proper ffb, what it may not have is what YOU define as “proper” which will be subjective. PCARS ffb IS different to the other Sims, it’s not worse, not better. All the games I have feel pretty much the same, only area PCARS lacks is road feel and that again is subjective. I can feel weight transfer, I can feel the front losing grip under braking and in the wet, I can feel the car go light over crests, especially the left hander at Zolder after kleine chicane and the mountain at Cadwell. I can feel saw tooth kerbs and I cannot feel flat kerbs. Really don’t understand this. I’m using a Fanatec Forza CSR.

Oh and do I want to believe someone who’s driven most of the worlds fast cars IN REALITY, or a bunch of wannabe racers sat at their PCs……hmmmmmm I wonder!!

      • Marcel

FFB is not personal preference or subjective, maybe to some that don´t drive in reality, but for real world trackday drivers it´s either realistic, or it´s not. I drive an incredible responsive car in real life, i think i can judge proper FFB. for me pcars feels like the steering axle is out of rubber. If i have to adjust around 20 settings to get it right, it´s not proper in the first place. I´ve spend a long time changing values but never got satisfying results. That we are even able to make so much changes to the FFB shows to me that they have problems to set it up correctly them selves.

      • RapidRefund

I disagree with you because there will be variations with regards to differing steering units in RL. Other elements within the equation will come into play as well like suspension and tires

      • Patrik Marek

and the 55mph limit on them 🙂

      • RapidRefund

You know the Old Sammy Hagar Song Right!

      • Leper Messiah

FFB is a fudge, it’s NOT real. Many of the forces we feel in the wheel we should only be feeling via the chassis. Sims do this to give players more information. FFB IS Personal preference and subjective, there are SO many different wheels and different ways those wheels convey FFB and drivers etc etc. You cannot just have a 1 to 1 correlation between reality and FFB. What’s good and works well for one wheel will not be good and work well for another.

I agree that the base settings could have done with a lot more work, that however does NOT mean PCARS ffb is bad, it means that the default settings needed more work. There are people who also drive trackday cars and race cars in reality and who say the PCARSs FFB is fine and dandy. Opinions, everyones got them.

      • Marcel

in AC you can disable effects that you only should feel in the chassis, they calculate the ffb strength with their suspension and tyre data, everything else that is canned can be disabled.

      • Leynad

IMO only iRacing doesn’t give you seat of pants effects (that’s why people like me complaining) and pCars without further tweaks feels pretty much like pure power steering as well. I like to drive with some SoP-effects in pCars to get a better feeling what the car is doing and there are on zero with most cars. In AC there are SoP effects you can’t turn off and that’s why more people like the FFB.

      • Marcel

that you can´t turn that effects off in ac just isn´t right

      • Leper Messiah

I know I do that in all sims and because of that culling of canned effects I get very similar feelings across all sims. Most criticism of Pcars is lack of canned effects IMO, not saying that’s what you’re saying, just that I see far more “no kerb ffb” than anything. I feel the major bumps and grip loss a-ok. Weight transfer……not sure if that’s a bit overdone in all sims, but that’s needed to make up for no g forces.

      • Bakkster

Which FFB do you prefer? By my understanding, objectively accurate FFB is the exception, not the rule, especially since nearly all steering wheels only have torque-based FFB which is just a subset of the forces most people want to feel while sim racing.

    • http://batman-news.com Leeman

I’m no PCars apologist but I have no trouble getting very responsive FFB from my TX wheel. I think it feels very good. It takes some research and some tweaking but once the proper values are entered, I think this sim feels pretty good.

  • Marcel

do they really put the tracking camera over the screen o.O should be really weird for him shaking like that in the car

  • gianluca p

Nice driving.Nobody was listening to Andy. 😀

  • Patrik Marek

great choice of car! so proud! 🙂

    • BigMillerTime

Hahah. That’s pretty awesome right there!

  • Rob Herridge

I hoped they showed him Assetto Corsa too so he could try a proper sim.

    • Leper Messiah

I’ll just go for a drive in AC in the wet then like in reality….oh wait I can’t. Last time I checked weather was a “proper” part of reality. NO sim is “proper” it’s all an approximation of reality. Bloody fanboy.

      • Rob Herridge

Erm fanboy? Pcars doesn’t match AC for realism, fluidity and immersion, fact.

      • ModernTimes2

        ^ That’s opinion <= And this is a fact 😉

      • RapidRefund

Kunos Beat Us to the Alfa Romeo License! 🙁

      • ModernTimes2

Ahh, yes, for the longest time I was hoping there’d be Alfas. But hey, we do have AC to cover that quite decently…

      • RapidRefund

It is true that Sim Development is an ongoing process never say never. I think I would flat out hit the floor so hard it would create a Tremor if some sim developer ever did briggs CUNNINGHAM Cars.

      • Hash

Funny that, when ppl say the same about RF2>AC (realism/race features/AI) we get absurdly hammered for pointing that fact out.

like a famous AC fanboy always asks me…….
Lets see the motec/data that says AC is more realistic than Pcars or indeed even forza.

    • Bakkster

Why would SMS demo their competitor’s product?

      • Rob Herridge

        I wasn’t serious.

  • http://www.gonzocalcio.it delpinsky

Great driving! For sure Ben gave very interesting and detailed feedback on the WMD forum. Then, how developers were able to translate his sensations into the sim, is up to each one of us to decide. But for fure he wasn’t just a “card” for marketing purpose. Thank you Ben!

  • Dibbdroid

As ever a whole load of comments fawning over a different game and slating Project Cars. Grow up.
Personally I play them all, they’re all good and the all have their niggles. So what, nothing is perfect for every single person on the planet, get over it.
If you don’t have anything which isn’t either bitchy or derogatory then don’t say it. Add value.
