Fonsecker has started working on improved sounds for Assetto Corsa’s Pagani Zonda R.

If you are a long-time follower of the rFactor community, the name will surely ring a bell as Fonsecker was part of GSMF and earned a reputation for creating excellent sounds for their Porsche Cup mods.

You can check out a first preview video of the new Zonda sound below as he’s working his magic on the new platform now.

    pointless !

Agree, doing mod for something that Kunos still working to improve is pointless. Love the spirit though 🙂

      • kahel grahf

Yeah i think all the experience he get from doing that is really a waste…what a idiot…

        ps : that was sarcasm.

To share a mod for something that Kunos itself will still improving is pointless. Some codes may still be changed or anything that means modder will have to learn again from the start. The experience the modder gets for him/herself off course will never going to waste.
edit: no sarcasm on any of the above

    • Justin Schmidt

no it’s not pointless. i have noticed myself that it is already possible to modify the sound in ac right now and fiddled a bit around with it. this is probably not something for release but more of a first try to get used with the new sound engine.

I think (as noroardanto says) the point is that the dev team is still working on the sounds (they have said they are).

In saying that, it’s nice to see what can be done with the sound engine and hopefully represents what Kunos Simulazoni will produce themselves 🙂

  • Mar Mar

I think the original is better. It’s just that they need to increase throttle blip when downshifting

  • DrDeathO5

Maybe the first sound mod that is better than original. Screams a bit more.
Game is still progressing though and many sounds will be tweaked imprved over time….

  • Realkman666

Does it sound better than the original?

  • Olivier Prenten

    That car is really awesome!!!

  • Big Ron

Not sure, but with this mod I have the impression to hear two car sounds at the same time overlaying each other.

  • Luke John Russell

I noticed there’s no ear blowing downshift sample. In fact, downshift sounds really pleasant in this mod so thumbs up for that. High end RPM still needs fixing; the default high end RPM samples have no clarity to them at all. The sound bar looks like a brick in an audio editor. Keep up the good work!

  • Jorge Araujo

    Sadly, it sounds canned.

Also don’t like it. The only game where Zonda R sounds close to real – pCARS. (don’t even try to think that I said pcars is better than AC!)

    • Hurdy Hurdy

You didn’t, you just said only game where sound of Zonda is close to real is PCARS.

Never any mention of PCARS being better than AC.

  • Roger Wallentin

Its great that we get sound mods already!

I think this sound is good at peak RPM but lacks too much punch at mid RPM its like on and off while at full throttle.

  • Jardier

I don’t like it. I think best game where Zonda sounds like real is pCars. Please someone convert sound from pCars to AC!!! 🙂

  • Marcus Reynolds

Still wondering where those Porsche sounds which were around in previews for the Porsche 996/997 disappeared to after all these years of dribbling patiently ?

Didn’t think Fonsecker would be working on AC so soon, surprising.

I said the same thing before for another mod, downshifts and upshifts are where sounds need improving. Unfortunately, it’s out of modders hands (for now) until Kunos codes it. But I think AC audio could use more kick and nasal samples as well, from modders.
