Assetto Corsa – Pre-Order To Start This Month

Kunos Simulazioni has confirmed that pre-ordering for their Assetto Corsa title will kick off in September.

Kunos Simulazioni has confirmed that pre-ordering for their Assetto Corsa title will kick off in September.

Kunos’ Stefano Casillo confirmed earlier today that sim racers can soon start saving their copy of the upcoming simulator on Twitter.

As revealed before, all pre-order customers will receive their first DLC content pack for free, consisting of Spa Francorchamps and several car models. The DLC pack will be available 6-8 weeks after the release of the initial version.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

The title will be available in 2013, the title will feature licensed cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, BMW & Lotus. Assetto Corsa recently got greenlit for Steam and will be available on Valve’s popular platform as well.

    FINALLY !!! πŸ˜€

  • Andy Thompson

I suspect a December release. As long as I can drive it over the Xmas holidays I’m happy.

  • Anonymous

Congrats n wish you all at Kunos Simulazioni all the best! There must be still tons of works to be done preparing the pre order and release date

    • Anonymous

Is good to have gratitude. πŸ™‚

  • Ricoo

I want to buy it now, even at beta stage. πŸ™‚

  • Anonymous

35 euro on my account, 2 more weeks and I’ll be 100% sure to get it, too bad I won’t really be able to play it as my graphics card died and won’t be able to play until early next year :/

  • Olivier Prenten

    That’s G.R.E.A.T. news!!!

  • Vinicius Matheus

    Don’t have a PC, still pre-ordering…

    • Anonymous

That’s a damn good excuse to build a monster PC.

      • John Karagiannis

Yeah, buying something that costs 40-50 USD, and then spend another 1.5-2k just to enjoy it! IoI

        Classic!

      • Anonymous

If you think about it and what some have spent on monster rigs that’s just a drop in the bucket and he will have all the info he needs to build a powerful enough PC to run it proper. Think about the guy who has the 386 and then moans that the game won’t run on his machine.

      • John Karagiannis

I doubt a guy with a x386 has ever heard of racing sims, let alone AC or pCARS ; )

      • Anonymous

Ya okay it was a little bit of an extension but you see my point right?

      • John Karagiannis

I bought my first serious gaming pc back in 2007, just to be able to play Crysis in full, but yeah, I see your point.

  • damys

    exige roadster in dlc? πŸ™

  • Neil Brady

    Excellent

  • Chris McLellan

Anybody know how much the pre order will cost?

    • Anonymous

40-45 Euro was the price they stated for pre-order πŸ™‚

    • David Wright

Steam usually charge the local market rate. So it depends where you live. In Europe, PC games are typically 40-50 Euros. In the UK Β£30 and in the US $45-50

      • Anonymous

Ya I think they stated it will be about what rF2 cost maybe even a slight undercut but within that range

  • Foxiol

Finally…still need to see it at Steam to believe it.

    • Michael Hornbuckle

Aris told me that the initial pre-order wouldn’t be on Steam….It will be somewhere that will give you a steam key…Steam only gives new devs a couple weeks to release game from time they announce pre-order. AC will likely have a release date two months after pre-order but if things go quickly with Steam it could be released earlier than the announced release date…..getting really close finally!!!!

      • Foxiol

Not sure who thumbed you down but thanks for that info. LetΒ΄s see what happens then. πŸ˜‰

  • John Karagiannis

TG it was about time! However, I honestly don’t get the meaning of pre-order for an over-the-net-distributed game. It’s not that KS will be short in production units or anything, so then, why?

    • Anonymous

      Money!!!

      • John Karagiannis

Agreed, it’s always about the money, but they gonna get it either way…

  • Realkman666

You want me to pay before there are reviews out? lol

    • Michael Hornbuckle

No, they know that you won’t be buying it because it is on the evil Steam platform, and Steam is much too complicated for you to use.

      • Realkman666

Pre-orders don’t happen only on Steam.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

Aris told me the pre-order will be at another site but you will be buying a steam key; since you have repeatedly stated that you don’t trust Steam and would never buy a $50 game on there you are still left out…guess you only have a couple more months of trolling left.

      • Realkman666

As far as I know, Kunos is still considering a stand-alone release eventually if AC sells well.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

Last time somebody asked him about it on twitter he said to get it on Steam or don’t get it…but good luck with your wait

      • Realkman666

That was regarding a different issue.

      • BackMarker

IIRC, this is the method I used to preorder ArmA 3 which is due out on Sept. 12 on steam. I purchased the preorder through the developer site and they sent me a steam version serial number.

      • Anonymous

Well I now know why people are concerned about Assetto corsa been on steam, after the chaos that was last weeks file conversion of simbins race 07/ race injection which took two hours to complete, maybe more for other users, will this happen to AC in the future we will have to wait and see, and to those that spent hours re-downloading all their expansion packs…..I feel for you.

    • Anonymous

      Yes buy it dammit!!! πŸ™‚

      • Realkman666

You know, when you buy it, you can tell me if you need the client to play the game or not. Then, we’ll see. You’re missing a 6, by the way.

      • Anonymous

No you are if you look closer I have 4 LOL

      • Realkman666

        Oh you!

    • Ross Siggers

Welcome to every game available for pre-order ever?

      • Realkman666

        Of course.

      • punkfest2000

No money from me until I actually test drive it.

      • Realkman666

Is there still a demo happening?

      • Anonymous

The demo will be the full game I think, just like nkpro, once you pay & register the product, it then becomes a full blown product.

    • Silvio

You don’t need to. But I do.

  • Mirko

I’ll be first to preorder this thing πŸ˜€

  • Anonymous

    YES!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

Is it a 30 or 60 day preorder? Because I guessed a Halloween release date. If not then Thanksgiving.

    • Michael Hornbuckle

Aris told me that when the pre-order goes up there is still a Steam check that they must go through….this could take anywhere from 15 days to a month and a half….the release date will be based on Steam taking a month to a month and a half….if the process goes quicker than the game will be released earlier than the date they give…they want this out just as bad as we want to play it.

  • Big Ron

Will there be a retail-version? Otherwise it wouldnΒ΄t make sense to pre-order a digital distribution.

    • Anonymous

Not for us maybe but it makes perfect cents and dollars for Kunos.

    • Michael Hornbuckle

Stefano has said over and over that AC is Steam only; they will use another site to pay for the pre-order but you will be buying a Steam key. The only benefit to pre-ordering is you get the first DLC pack (the contents of which will be announced when the release date is announced.)

      • Big Ron

Anyway, I am waiting until after release for people telling me how good it finally is.

    • Pablo Coronel

Was thinking the same, anyway, ill buy it the very day of the release πŸ™‚

  • assbreath cornbeans

i dont even have a wheel anymore

i dont even play sims anymore, i bought a goddamn evo 9 and live by the mountains

    still gonna preorder

  • Jardier

    TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY!

  • Mark

Shame it seems that it’ll be released about the same time as GT6. Battle of the driving simulators. πŸ™‚

    • Philip Berger

GT6 is simcade not a driving simulator. It’s pointed at very large community so it will never be real simulator.

      • Mark

I was saying it somewhat tongue in cheek.

      • Anonymous

Isn’t your tongue always between your cheeks? Unless you’re like this :)~

      • StarFoxySxv550

Isn’t AC going to be pointed at this same large community? Hence the Career mode and opening of doors etc?

AC is trying to reach GT audience, and GT’s is trying to reach the AC audience. Both have said this is the goal.

The only difference between the two is money, PD have (made) enough of it (from GT1-4) to fund GT7 maybe 5 times over, and Sony have given them enough free reign to do what they like because of that, hence almost every aspect of the game is as much “Sim” as you’ll find as anything on the PC. Physics/tyres are debatable and always evolving.

      • Philip Berger

No, AC is not trying to reach GT audience, it was even cleared up in one of the interviews. AC is aiming MAINLY at sim community but allowing people from arcade games to play their game with game assists.
And for me GT is FAR, very FAR to being CLOSE to be something called simulator. Yes, they included some sim aspects to their physics but that doesn’t change enything. Physics in GT5 were very plastics, it’s impossible to create accurate physics for 1,200 pointless cars.
GT6 gets better in this field according to demo, but still it isn’t anything that I at least would call simulator. It’s just nice game to play with friends.

      • Anonymous

You do know Assetto Corsa feels better than any sim out their when using a Microsoft Xbox360 controller, does that make it not a sim then? πŸ™‚

      • Philip Berger

Have I anywhere mentioned that being able to play any sim on pad or keyboard makes it arcade?

  • Jay Ekkel

Sweet, cant wait to give AC a proper go!

  • Racing jason

Dont get yourselves fooled with this…only because there is a preorder soon doesnt mean the game will be released 4-6 weeks later…kunos still cant name a date. So i bet anything AC will not come in 2013…

    • http://www.bsimracing.com/ Wim

i would not be surprised if it was Xmass. makes sense. If not, … we just wait some more.

      • Anonymous

So how are you guys doing? You may set the standard for mods for this title I look forward to both.

  • Anonymous

    Looking forward to pre-ordering πŸ™‚

Here’s an idea – how about a beta version or updated tech demo for pre-orderers?

    • Glen Orpheus

      i’ve got to say that’s a splendid idea (“,)
cant wait for them to take my money.

      • StarFoxySxv550

Nah, I don’t think it is. These demos and updates of demos take away development time, it’s a small enough studio as it is.

You/we pre-ordered already, we’re going to buy the game, why do I need another demo for? Just give the the full game already. I’ll pass the time playing/doing something else

Demos are for folks who are unsure of a purchase, or in the case of the AC Tech demo, bug reporting or perhaps both although a “real” demo will be coming after release.

      • Glen Orpheus

fair comment, and yeah i have to agree with you now (“,)

    • Anonymous

I already asked for this. An updated version of the TP but I had not an answer on this by Casillo

  • Silvio

A phrase often repeated here: my money is waiting.

  • yorch sinclair

    ouh yeah

  • mclaren777

I really, really hope this game comes to the PS4 as well.

    • Anonymous

      .

      • mclaren777

I spent the weekend playing PS4 games and talking to developers. They all had unanimously positive things to say about working with Sony. I think AC could be a perfect fit for PSN and I hope it eventually happens.

      • Anonymous

Sorry I had a Brain Fart and thought you were talking about pCARS when mentioning PS4. Which I would hope you might still have some interest in. As for AC and console I have no idea if this will be? I do however hope that AC has much success that creates a strong financial level for this company to allow Kunos to consider options like you mention in the future.

      • mclaren777

I have very little interest in pCARS because SMS hasn’t made physics and FFB enough of a priority (IMO). The final game could be good, but it’s unlikely that I will buy it at this point. Plus, being a Junior member means I can’t drive the slower cars that appeal to me most.

      • Anonymous

Birddogg66 has all the interest in the world for pcars, so much that he thought ps4 and psn meant pcars, talk about been obsessed with a product. πŸ™‚

      • Anonymous

I think your very wrong with your observation as to what I am about. I am a supporter of the industry FIRST and then I have some preferences. If you really like to know what my favorites are they are GTR2, rF1, and then a fairly wide selection of others. πŸ™‚

      • Anonymous

I know you support most of the racing sims out on the pc, hence why I had to include a smiley, glad you didn’t take it the wrong way.

      • Anonymous

        Cheers.

      • Anonymous

        Your welcome.

      • Anonymous

I did not know you were back in? I do remember you from early on and I for one respected your feedback when constructive.

      • Hugo Stiglitz

Wait isn’t pCars planning on going to PS3?

Honestly it’s a stupid idea for them to do that at this point. The consoles are pretty much here. It’s not gran turismo where it’ll still sell even though the new consoles are out.

      • Anonymous

Yes with plans also for next gen but no set in stone plans as of yet.

      • Joe Martin

Its not a stupid idea to support a user base of millions, and then move up to the new consoles when there are more owners of them. Not even half the people who own PS3’s will be immediately upgrading when the PS4 is released, plus it took 8 years to get the numbers they have today. Its just basic business. I wont be buying a PS4 on release, I already have a PC and PS3, so my racing and gaming is pretty well covered for now. Of course, when more exclusive titles start coming out that I really want, then eventually I will get one. But first, Oculus Rift!!!

      • Hugo Stiglitz

A user base that also already has access to Gran Turismo.

PS4 on the other hand won’t have gran turismo until late 2015 at best, therefore pCars would be a must buy for every Gran Turismo fan that will be getting a PS4.

Doesn’t matter if PS3 has a larger user base, pCars would sell better on PS4, and be a much better game on PS4.

On PS3, it’ll be just another racing game, and lets face it, it pretty much is. At least on next gen consoles though, it’ll be the only real option for sim racers, and therefore will do well

      • Joe Martin

It also takes an enormous amount of effort to program a new game, including new graphics and physics engines, for the new hardware, and then port all the content over to the new engine, while trying to it enough polish so the rough edges of old ported content doesn’t show so badly in full HD… usually years of work to do right, and they didn’t have the new hardware in hands that long ago, so them announcing GT7 is less time is logical cause they have been working on a new engine since they had the ps4 hardware to program the engine for. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t release the last 2-3 years of work as a final package for the ps3 owners. The reason most day one titles have been lacking in the past for all consoles, is because the software companies had to rush to get their work done after finally getting hardware in their hands, and having only a short time before release to learn new programming methods and nuances for new hardware. Finally, each new generation of hardware has greater power to exploit, with that, comes higher expectations, and a larger workload to meet those expectations.

Your hope might become a reality, here is a interview by Italian Il videogioco with Mark Massarutto http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=it&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ilvideogioco.com%2F2013%2F08%2F26%2Fquattro-chiacchiere-marco-massarutto-kunos-simulazioni-ed-alcune-immagini-inedite-assetto-corsa%2F%3Futm_source%3Drss%26utm_medium%3Drss%26utm_campaign%3Dquattro-chiacchiere-marco-massarutto-kunos-simulazioni-ed-alcune-immagini-inedite-assetto-corsa

-Il videogioco: “It will only be an exclusive Windows or you are planning a landing on the console or on other operating systems?

      -Marci Massarutto
For the moment, we are focused exclusively on Windows PCs, and can not be otherwise as long as the software will not be released and consolidated.
But we are watching with great interest and attention to the new
console and the new policy of Microsoft and Sony dedicated to
independent developers. In due course, we will study the potential calmly.”

There you go, so there is a chance it might be coming to next gen consoles.

      • Hugo Stiglitz

        That’s amazing.

I hope all goes well for them because I know Sony is very cool about indies. They love indies so I think there’s a chance and there’s also a chance that they’ll steal away a lot of GT fans while we all wait for GT7.

  • Marc Collins

Where’s the official list of tracks and cars that will ship with the title?

    • Anonymous

That’s called ‘asking for concrete details’ and is likely to inspire negative comments your way. You’re just supposed to support them blindly while looking at single iPad screencaps.

      /troll

Obligatory Full Disclosure: I’m absolutely buying this game.

      • Marc Collins

Me, too!! But I thought by this stage we would know what the “ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars” were that I keep reading every time there’s an AC item here.

      • Anonymous

Yeah, I really don’t get there dual strategy of random single screenshots and iPad video screen captures.

People have given pCARS crap since it came out and wasn’t perfect. Maybe Kunos doesn’t want to release anything at all under they deem it perfect. I hope not, though, as it just means they have a reason to push back.

I think most people here would rather have a couple tracks and cars as perfect as possible and wait for new content then to have all content as perfect as possible.

  • Hugo Stiglitz

I’m not preordering until the last minute let alone before we even have the slightest idea when it’ll be released.

No sense spending money on it now when it may not be out for another few months

    • Petros Mak

The benefit of Pre-Ordering is that is also helps the developer by providing a financial boost which they might be requiring and that could help them get more stuff done “IF” they have financial troubles. AC has been at the center of good reviews and a good response from the community so I for one would Pre-Order just for the sake of supporting the developer even with the amount it will cost. If enough people do so, those funds could help them a lot if they need it sooner. But that’s just my view. On console’s we pre-order games and consoles months before they come out, so why not with PC games?

      • Anonymous

        Amen

      • Luchingador

cause preordering in any platform is a bad idea

      • fkkamil

It is not bad idea if you get DLC pack for free as a benefit of pre-ordering.

      • Hugo Stiglitz

Agreed but who says you need to preorder right away to get that?

If it weren’t for that I probably wouldn’t preorder at all but considering how much some game developers like to delay things, I’ll wait to preorder it.

      • GamerMuscle

Pre-ordering in general is prity much a scam to screw the consumer out of cash and get them to commit to buying games that are likely to be s**t without the consumer having a chance to really evaluate there decision.

In the case of AC Its likely it will be an awesome game but at the same time as a general rule I think its bad to pre-order games.

Pre ordering made sense back in the 90’s when publishers had to do a limited run and a pre order was a way to reserve your limited copy and for the publisher to better print x number of disks needed.

but nowadays its just not needed , as a result you see Bull***T DLC locked to pre orders to get people to hand over more cash.

Granted in the Case of AC and some other developers/games they are genuinely giving good content and in some ways rewarding people who want to pay full price / support the developer.

But just look at how the majority of AAA games handle the DLC ripping content from the game or segregate the users with locked content depending on who you pre-oder from.

As I say for AC the core game and the Preorder content looks quite reasonable for the prices I have heard.

      • Hugo Stiglitz

True and 90% of the time I’d gladly preorder a game I plan on getting on day 1. I’ll even pay for the whole game up front but considering this game probably won’t be released until next year at the very least, I won’t on this title.

I’m not a patient person when it comes to things I am really looking forward to and right now, the only thing that can keep me from having a sour taste in my mouth over these delays is by not thinking about AC entirely. That’s why I’m sick of seeing screenshots.

I’ve been following this sim since last year and I’ve heard the time tables they’ve given. They were all, incredibly far off from the truth, and because of that, I refuse to preorder this until there’s a rock solid release date for it. And even then, I’ll probably wait a while before pre-ordering.

It may suck for them, but as a consumer, I’m not just gonna give my money to a developer that isn’t reliable when it comes to time tables.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if AC was delayed until summer 2014, maybe even later. That’s why I’m not preordering yet.

I’d love to support them but giving them money now will just make me more angry when they decide to delay the game another 6-12 months

  • Roger Wallentin

IMO this is a no brainer deal, pre-order without final release date or not

Without nKPRO, FVA and the tech preview there could have been a risk not getting awesome value for whatever the price will be.

But since we have all that and the amazing list of beautiful licensed content, the risk of AC not being worth its price for a sim racer like me is virtually zero.zero.

    I will pre-order ASAP! πŸ™‚

    • Marcel

      You say it!

  • BackMarker

    I will preorder AC! πŸ™‚

  • Roger Wallentin

I think the AC release and the Fanatec Clubsport shifter will be available roughly at the same time, will be a great match to take the F40 out for some proper manual shifting fun! πŸ™‚

  • Arrniesan

With it being Greenlit, does it mean it will be tied to Steam…I hope not.

  • KookiDowg

I’m pretty scared if this will be released on Steam… =

  • Tim

That’s what greenlit means. It’s on Steam.

    Nothing wrong with that.
