Assetto Corsa – Nürburgring Revealed

Three new photos reveal the Nürburgring to be included in Assetto Corsa.

Kunos Simulazioni is on site at the Nürburgring 24 Hour race this weekend, having built up their simulator in the lounge of the P4/5 Competizione team.

With the P4/5 already confirmed to be included in Assetto Corsa, the sim gives the drivers the chance to drive their car in the virtual world.

Below are three photos of the simulator, revealing something interesting as they clearly show the car on the Nürburgring Grand Prix track, a circuit not yet officially confirmed to be included in the title.

With the race this weekend using a combination of the Grand Prix track and the legendary Nordschleife, the question on everybody’s mind will be which part of the German circuit will be included in the title.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

    Go Kunos!!!!

If they have laserscanned the green hell as well it will be a milestone in simracing history.

      More like a 13-milestone, lol.

If they scan Nord, that will be it – every sim fan will buy this game and interest in this title will go from “OMG i want this” to “OMFG I want this”.

  • Ken Coughlin

Great news but there’s no way it has been laser scanned. They wouldn’t have kept that silent if they did.

    • General Rush Hour

So you think they would just laserscan half the track then mod the rest even though all tracks released by AC has been 100% laserscanned so far.

I think there´s a bigger possibility that they skipped Nords.

      • Ken Coughlin

Nords is what I’m talking about. Laser scanned grand prix track. Still pretty cool. But now I’m wondering if there will even be any version of the nordschleif scanned or not scanned.

      • Matt Orr

Nope. We’ve seen the Monza banking, which AFAIK is no good for any type of racing bar rallycross and the like. They may have that scanned, but I don’t think it’d be useful for any type of racing we’ll see out of AC. I’d expect to see a “representative” version of the banking as it would have been when it was actually a portion of the circuit that is a bit smoother for racing in cars like the 49.

There also was a “preview” of an old layout of Silverstone, which I’m pretty sure couldn’t be scanned. That’s the layout before the Bridge section was added, as well as straight from Stowe to Club. Pretty sure that’s all grass now.

My understanding is another company has scan data, and exclusive rights to it. It would be as easy as Kunos paying a (reportedly large) fee, he wouldn’t have to touch the track.

    • Matt Orr

It’s still several, several, several months away from release.

Nurby in any guise hasn’t even actually been announced for AC yet AFAIK. Remember Imola and Mangione or whatever it is? Spotted, then announced later. Gotta build interest.

  • Justin Schmidt

nice. so this means i can test it this weekend.

  • Alejandro Gorgal

Woot! Really looking forward to trying this out.

Amazing if laserscanned acutally remarkable, but I think its just F1 track layout used from Ferrari Virtual Academy.

keep an eye on this thread
Jim Glickenhaus posts daily (owner of P4/5) as they are running in 24HR race right now. He posted there long time ago before anyone that AC team scanned his car.

  • Matt Orr

It was said on the iRacing forums by a Williams F1 team member that a separate company owns the rights to scanning the Nurburgring, so the data would more or less need purchased. On the rFPro website they even mention that they have access to both Nords and La Sarthe. So it’s not like it isn’t impossible. Someone has the data. Heck, they may not even be racing related, but perhaps a local organization in some other field which happens to have that area covered in detail.

Likely? Don’t think so. Would it basically instantly sell AC to anyone with a penchant for road racing? Yup. Looks like Kunos is REALLY trying to push the edge and kill the competition. How long have we heard cries for better graphics? What about laser scanned tracks outside iRacing – which many will never like due to 10 things that spoil it for good for some – yup, delivery. Mod tools? Seems like another delivery there perhaps. Physics? Well, nKP is still pretty dang good and that is how old now? FFB? No reason to suspect it will be anything other than amazing. Missed AI in nKP? Fixed that for us.

I mean cmon. AC has come out of nowhere like it’s nearly an answer from whatever religious figure of your choosing to a huge load of sim racers. Considering that, would it really shock you guys if somehow the entirety of the Ring was scanned and coming?

nKP did have that 17km long hillclimb, btw. lol

Well said mate,i feel the same.
Also dont forget the “no subscription”!

Personaly my “boom” came there..when no subsciption announced.
I really want to see how far Kunos will go.

    • Justin ForzaBarça Cruze

As a NKP fanboy I’m looking forward to AC as much as anyone……..but yer I would be quite shocked 🙂

  • Riccardo Garella

Thank you for sharing this!you can find the latest news and pictures of the Team P 4/5 competizione in our facebook profile !

come and see what’s new during the 24h of the NurburgRing!

  • General Rush Hour

License is rumored to cost 250.000 from what i have heard.

250.000 split on 50.000 drivers is $5 each. Makes it a possibility to come as a DLC if not available in the game now.

But you also can´t stop thinking about what Stefano is thinking now, i mean he is on the Nords right now so there´s no doubt this is all going through his head right now.

..unless of course he has it in the bag.

    • Steve Ford

How do you know this? Do you have a link to back it up?

      • General Rush Hour

Check out Steve Ford´s youtube channel, be sure to check out his comments, it´s pure gold.

As you know, i will answer every single question you have if you just would give me your real name, let´s do some trading of information.

      • Andrea Candini

Not again with this crap, give it a rest. I seriously hope F1Racer will ban the both of you for a while.

      • Steve Ford

You did the same stuff before humpass.  This is exactly why you got banned from iracing forums.  You are CRAZY!!!!
WHY DO YOU ALWAYS DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????

      • Anonymous

One member is badgering another via this site. This is the time you are needed F1. It’s not Rush hours fault that he has a little fan following him around to jump on every comment he makes. I’d have banned this guy already tbh.

      • Anonymous

They’re both banned right now.   GRH had other options instead of trading blow for blow.
Then when I asked them both to stop GRH was on my case and I really gave him many chances to just back down and behave but he didn’t.  Then they both ignored Montoya’s warning.

So, yeah, it’s nice to be needed 🙂

      • Ice Man

F1, dunno about Steve F, but GRH was banned from iRacing for harassing people. At RD he is one of those going after pcars and people being banned EVEN here…Respectfully, what took you guys this long to ban him?

      • Anonymous

I’m not bothered about his other bans tbh.  My only concern was how he acted here.
He was given every chance but chose not to take it.
Anyway this is not really subject for further discussion so  lets draw a line under it here.

  • Robert Gödicke

I’m picking up every bit of information of Assetto Corsa I can.
When it comes to my own experiences I really believe once rFactor 2 is completed, it will be an amazing sim and my new virtual home when it comes to simracing. On the other hand I own netKAR Pro, and the driving experience was really great. Give it a better netcode (the biggest flaw of NetKAR Pro imo), better collision model and unlock it for modders and Kunos will have a winner, even without the nice looking DX11 engine Assetto Corsa will offer.

So when Assetto Corsa will only make progress compared to NetKAR Pro, it will probably be another sim I will drive in leagues etc. Time will tell, but Kunos already showed they can pull off the most important thing – the physics – quite well. Go for it guys, more well made sims on the market will boost simracing’s popularity altogether.

  • Gerald

By Nürburgring you mean the ring around Nürburg?
