Kunos Simulazioni keeps on trickling out new previews of their upcoming Porsche content for Assetto Corsa.

Kunos Simulazioni keeps on trickling out new previews of their upcoming Porsche content for Assetto Corsa.

The newest previews reveal two new cars as we get a sneak peek of the Panamera road car as well as a detail shot of the Porsche 917/30, one of the most powerful race cars ever built with an power output in excess of 1000hp.

The cars will be part of Kunos Simulazioni’s non-exclusive partnership with Porsche AG, an exact number or list of the selection that will include both Porsche road and racing machinery has not been confirmed yet, neither has a release date for the Porsche content been specificied.

  • Carlos Mastretta Jr.

    I have a theory about that 917/30…

    • http://schonder.com MatzeLoCal

And that theory is? If it contains Le Mans you better forget about it, the 917/30 never raced there.

      • Carlos Mastretta Jr.

The theory is that this is the car that was being developed by The Meco.

But holy cow wouldn’t it be nice to drive Le Mans in AC now that you mention it. Old and new version like the did with Monza.

      • Ensi Ferrum

Now my pants getting wet 🙂
Ford GT40 on the old layout,
Porsche 919 Hybrid & Porsche 911 RSR on the new layout

      • Guimengo

That and probably another 2 community Porsches

      • Paul Maguire

Agree since his cobra in already in the game. The guy is a genius.

      • MC

        I’d rather have Suzuka =)

      • Philbert

If it takes a little revisionist history to get LeMans in the game, so be it.

  • loupfu

God, please ! Let me travel through the time…

    • Paul Maguire

i can bash your head in with a bat to shorten your wait 🙂

      • loupfu

I think this is the only solution to end suffering…

      • Paul Maguire

haha one smash across the temple should do it, if your lucky AC 2 will be out 🙂

  • Philbert

No need to worry much about the current road Porche’s as we already have awesome Rufs.

No, the classic racing beasts are what I am after

    • pez2k

I had a think to try to disagree, but other than the 997.1 GT3 and maaaaybe the RS 4.0, every other Porsche from the last 10 years I like better as a Ruf or is better left out. Even with the Cayman, I’m pretty sure an RK would be better than a GT4 and a 3800 would be close.

      Wouldn’t be opposed to a stripped-out 964 or 993 Carrera though!

      • Rolando Tillit

        A Singer Porsche.

    • Adam Špaček

I love Yellowbird but I disagree with you. What I am missing is vintage normally aspirated 911, preferably RS version.

      • Philbert

Vintage is cool. I just don’t want them to waste their license with common road cars. I’m not playing Assetto to test drive for a new car purchase.

  • https://www.youtube.com/c/chillisteak Chillisteak

Am I the only one that wishes racing games were made up of actual race cars? not a thousand and one different road cars.

    • Adam Špaček

Well there is a lot of people who like road cars as well. I actually prefer road cars to GTx racing beasts most of the time.

    • Michael Hornbuckle

You should love iracing then….also, isn’t this article about a Porsche race car?

      • https://www.youtube.com/c/chillisteak Chillisteak

I do love iRacing for that, and for it’s licence and scheduled racing etc.
I avoided it for so long due to having to subscribe and pay for content at the same time, but I’ve caved and started racing on it every week.

    • MC

There was a sim’ like that… what was it called again… oh that’s it netKar PRO. No one played it :/

      • https://www.youtube.com/c/chillisteak Chillisteak

In all fairness, I’d never heard of it till recently.
So I’d place that more on the marketing team than the fact it didn’t have street cars.
As I’ve only heard about it via sim racing forums, never seen one bit of advertising for the game.

      • MC

That kinda shows why 🙂 I’ve not seen any advertising for AC either (except when its in a steam sale… obviously not on this site :P), but due to its content, and more accessible nature its done a million times better.

    • Rodger Davies

No, you’re not, but I guess the terms of the deal are that we can have the historic cars so long as the modern street car range is also included. You know, using history to sell the future, that sort of thing. So fair price to pay, if it gets us an official 917, 962, 935 and 991GT3 IMO.

6 street cars identified so far, I hope that the other 14 are modern and classic racers.

“The cars will be part of Kunos Simulazioni’s non-exclusive partnership with Porsche AG”

This might be a bit offtopic, but I thought the Porsche deal was exclusive? Is there a chance we’ll see Porsche in more sims?

    • Michael Hornbuckle

This site IS owned by SMS, so I guess the reason they say non-exclusive is so that people will think that pcars has Porsche also. AC is the only sim that will have Porsche in 2016, yet this site uses the term ‘non-exclusive’ in every post about it.

      • pez2k

Or, instead of a conspiracy theory, it’s ‘non-exclusive’ because they haven’t bought out EA’s license and there wil probably be another NFS or Forza game with Porsches before long. After decades of EA exclusivity it’s a noteworthy point.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

So what other sim will have Porsche in 2016? If the answer is ‘none’ then that would seem to be pretty exclusive.

      • pez2k

That’s pretty irrelevant since manufacturers don’t sit down and sign deals based on their interpretation of the exact sub-genre of racing game. It’s either exclusive, ie. no other game at all can have Porsche without Kunos’ approval, or it’s not exclusive, ie. more than zero other games can have Porsche if they have the money, which you would expect EA to.

Note also that there’s a difference between an exclusive deal and nobody else licensing it – Kunos doesn’t have an exclusive Ferrari deal but the other sim developers haven’t been able to afford a license themselves. I would thoroughly expect no other sim to have Porsche this year, but that doesn’t mean that Kunos has signed an exclusivity deal to explicitly block them.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

Either Kunos has exclusive rights to Porsche in 2016 or every other sim has totally dropped the ball if Porsche is now available for everybody.

      • pez2k

Same with Ferrari and Lamborghini too – whoever is in charge of licensing deals at Kunos is doing some incredible work.

      • Patrik Marek

I think it helps if you are Italian company talking to Italian company

as to the point, I guess you could say AC will be exclusive game with Porsche in 2016, but that doesn’t mean that they have exclusive deal with Porsche for that year … as you said yourself

I think it’s just smart PR talking, as the Porsche license is imo available to other games.

there is a Porsche expansion for Forza6, but I don’t know when it’s coming out, if it comes out in 2016, it woudl prove AC being liars 😛

        http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/news/fm6_porsche_expansion

it does sound like it’s available already … so …
