AssiPazz has released new previews of his quickly-progressing Mazda 787B for Assetto Corsa.

The new previews show an exterior render as well as the textured instruments dash of the Japanese Le Mans winner.

The 787B is one of the most famous Le Mans cars of all time, being the first rotary-powered as well as the first and only Japanese car to win the event in 1991, driven by Johnny Herbert, Volker Weidler & Bertrand Gachot.

I’m looking forward to hearing this thing as well as driving it. Hopefully when the new sound system hits AC some of these cars can be given the sounds they richly deserve.

    Nice model too btw.

FMOD it’s a really easy tool to use. they will increase sound mod quality a ton.

I have quite a bit of experience in computer sounds, but on the music side, not in gaming. The AC sound suffers from a synthetic overtone, especially in the attack phase. I don’t know if that is a characteristic of the sound engine or of the recordings.
NKpro also suffered from the same sound characteristic. It ,may be they will need to start from scratch with new recordings depending on when that artificial sound was introduced. But it’s certainly good news that they recognise it as a shortcoming.

attack, warble, thump, etc. whatever they call it, I absolutely agree with you. It’s a big part to making it sound less synthetic, and more like an alive and kickin’ combustion engine.

I’m left wondering though if this commitment from Kunos reaches beyond the programming side. Will they put funds behind recording cars irl? After all, you can’t make good sounds without good source material. ^_^

when they update the sound engine too, then fmod will be improve this a lot. Actually reverb is removed and other things dont match, so replays and so on sounds really bad.

The model sure looks like really top notch quality!

Looking forward to driving this at LeMans in the near future 🙂 As mentioned, hopes are high for some realistic and angry rotary sound! 🙂
