    I thought this is a shot from GTR3. 🙂
Looks good, but for some reason i’m not impressed. *cough* pCARS fault *cough*

    • Anonymous

The impressing will no doubt come behind the wheel and the FFB and then these visuals. Reflections look rather nice on the glass. It’s also a carbon covered car with and almost matte finish, so not alot to really show of the car body reflections and so lacks that initial shiny WOW factor that pCARS has. Lighting also look believable and balanced, i like it.

    • gt3rsr

That’s true. As far as I can judge, pCARS is visually superior – so far.

AC is about realism in lighting, similar to iRacing.

CARS (or SHIFT) is about making spectacular but unreal lighting effects.

There is a public for each of them of course, but if you go beyond real it’s easier to make eye candy images, it happens all the time on photography with Photoshopped images.

       Nice, thanks for that!

Hmm, I’ve seen better shots of Assetto Corsa. The colours look a bit awkward, much like rF2 but a lot of this is down to this particular shot. The DOF is making it worse than it needs to be imo.

I definitely want to see more please Kunos.

  • Anonymous

It looks pretty good to me and nothing like rF2. While I like rF2 as well, I have to admit that while some things are done well, the overall effect is a bit unrealistic. In rF2, especially wider shots the cars look like they have a different lighting from the track.

But at the same time, no, it’s not at the level of pCARS. I doubt that with our present technology we would be able to do much better than pCARS. Just the other day I took my first video of pCARS in game, a full race with the “Asano” (Audi) cars at Catalunya. After I processed the video and put it on youtube I sent a link to a friend of mine that is a very famous illustrator but started his career in the 60 as a photographer for Road&track. He simply could not believe that what I gave him was a videogame.
Granted, his computer skills are such that only recently he has started using email and this was the first time he clicked on a link in an email as he was afraid his Mac would get a Virus if he did, but he knows cars and he knows illustration.
Upon reviewing it myself, I had to admit that it was excellent.

But as others have pointed out, graphics are not everything. When I race the Meganes in rF2, I am not thinking of the graphics, I am thinking of the driving and the feedback I get from the wheel, the slip angle, the behavior of the car.

That’s what’s going to make me praise or not praise Assetto Corsa ultimately. Even if the graphics are not at the level of pCARS what is going to establish the popularity of Assetto is going to be many factors, including the moddability, netcode and so on. I know in my league we are eagerly waiting for the 2012 crop to become available so we can test it and finally wave goodbye to GTR2.

    • Anonymous

Totally agree , I’ll take rF2’s and more than likely Assetto”s physics and FFB anyday over pCARS visuals. Visuals will only keep you hooked for so long until you begin to want more from the experience. And anyway we have not seen the true rF2 yet visually and also some of the older shots of AC i.e the Imola shots looked every bit as good as pCARS

    • Anonymous

Yep, this is the thing ultimately. Graphics are important but their impressiveness can wear off and become dated rather soon. The physics and feel stay with you a lot longer.
Like you, when I’m driving, my concern is with how the car is behaving and not how good the roads and trees look.

      • Anonymous

I’m greedy and I want both. Otherwise I’m not interested 🙂

  • http://www.facebook.com/jukka.karppinen1 Jukka Karppinen

Looking good! I don’t really care if it doesn’t have exactly as many graphic details as pCars because i’m sure the physics and ffb will be on a league of its own…

  • Anonymous

I prefer Asseto Corsa visuals over the also beautiful project cars.

  • Anonymous

The way i view these are. Not once i have ever seen any of the older generation looking like this and so we should be happy with the improvements. Only time rF or EVO ever looked like this was when they were shopped to hell. Same goes with rF1 it looked great years into it’s life with all the HQ mods but the default cars models, lighting and general graphics pale in comparison to rF2 even in beta. GTR3 also looks to be heading the same, so all the PC based, PC only simulation titles have all made some nice strides.

If pCARS had not been coming out, we would all be raving about the improvements over the last generation. We have been spoilt but really all these PC sims do seem to have all made decent strides.

I would rather have these titles staying PC only than loads of multi platform sims with extra pretty eye candy. Would rather have extra uncomprimised physics and FFB

It’s true that the Speed feeling is very good with Project CARS. :l-

What’s with the DoF. It ruins the shot for me.

Depth of Field, a graphical feature so advanced iRacing had it first 😉

    Looking sexy.

    • Anonymous

It still is an advanced feature in the sim world.

gMotor 2 didn’t have it, neither did netKar. So it’s worth mentioning. And it’s not like iRacing had it from the beginning, it wasn’t introduced until last year if I remember correctly 🙂

      • Anonymous

So why isn’t it in the tag line of every iRacing story? It’s a new feature, part of iRacing 2.0, but it doesn’t get a mention.

      • Anonymous

I don’t really understand your grief with this. These wrap-up lines are just used for non-released titles to give readers who check out a story about it for the first time a quick idea what the title is about and what highlights it.

It’s not needed for iRacing since the sim is already out there and anybody can try it. Same goes for rFactor 2 etc, there’s no need for this with released titles.

      • Anonymous

        That makes sense.

      • Anonymous

most the new features of iRacing 2.0 back in August 2011 are not released up to this day not to mention the bugs and incomplete NTM!

    • http://www.facebook.com/mr.jason.madigan Jason Madigan

umm, isn’t the DoF in iRacing only available in replays? You don’t get to see it live whilst driving if I am not mistaken?

      • Anonymous

Right, because if you don’t know where the focal point is (ie, in a camera view). DoF is not accurate. The way it’s done in Shift for example is terrible, the gauges blurry even when you are focusing on them. Hopefully AC does it in a similar method to iRacing.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_37IN6F2QL6W3MHPS6XM7LJY5IY Derek Speare

I’m looking forward to AC.  It appears as if it and GTR3 are “next generation” racing sims and not recycled, optimized and enhanced versions of a previous title of something.  Well, just about everything is recycled from something else, but AC looks promising.  Time will tell.  I’m glad it’s something new to anticipate.

  • Eric Zehnder

I hope they release some gameplay videos soon. The pictures coming out are quite solid but making antsy for more.

P.S. – I hope the video they release contains nothing but understeer because any sign of oversteer through bends means arcade ’round here…

pCARS doesn’t looks so good + AC great FFB and physics make this sim killer.

    • Anonymous

I’m just curious what inside information you have? Is there a demo somewhere I don’t know about? Otherwise I don’t know how anyone would know how good the physics and FFB are on this sim.

As for PCARS-I’m loving it. It gets better and better all the time. Like Birddog said-with the plethora of new sims coming out we should all be happy for a while to come!

      • Anonymous

Physics and FFB will be at least as good as the netkar. At the moment pCARS more like Forza than a good sim .

      • General Rush Hour

        Need for speed = Pcars.

        Shut up troll.

Okay I have rF2 and pCars still in development titles and looking forward to GTR3, Assetto Corsa, Kart Sim. Hmmm am I forgetting any? there is soooo much going on with new titles enough to keep me busy through 2014.Oh yeah almost forgot about Reiza look forward to theirs as well.

  • Anonymous

    Looks just like pCARS!
Which is a good thing of course. I think it’s incredible that a small and new studio can make a game with graphics that match the best big-budget titles.
Hope it’s a success, it looks like it deserves it.

    • Boss Player

Looks better than pCars, Assetto Corsa has better reflections and the “sun” effect is pretty close to real life.

      • Anonymous

Yes, it looks real rather than ‘hyper-real’.

      • Anonymous

Yea but these are PR screenshots remember. They’re made to show the game from the best angles.
Lets wait until we can see it in motion.
Besides, is the time of day and weather dynamic or fixed? Do we get realistic lighting at night where headlights cast shadows? I’m hoping for a ‘yes’ to this, then I will be truly impressed.
These would make those amazing graphics even harder to achieve.

I have no doubt that it looks amazing however, don’t get me wrong 🙂

  • http://www.facebook.com/Fanatec Thomas Jackermeier

I had the chance to play this game and I love it. The force feedback is excellent and the graphics are stunning. There are a lot of great racing simulations in the works at the moment and this is one of the top candidates.
Kunos already wins the award for coolest office location. I mean you can watch the Vallelunga track directly from the office window.

    • Anonymous

Lucky, wish I could have a go. Are you doing a preview of the game or something?

      • http://www.facebook.com/Fanatec Thomas Jackermeier

I am not the right guy to make a good preview and I was not driving it enough. But if you touch a game and it feels right from the beginning, even in pre-alpha stage, then it is a good sign.

      • Anonymous

Yeah looks really nice, looks like earlier version shots of pCARS before they changed all the lighting

    • Matt Orr

      Kinda feel sorry for Simbin.

Oh hey, you guys are doing the P4/5 too? Well, here’s ours! Oh, a new graphics engine as well? Well, here’s ours!

  • http://twitter.com/Pascalwb Pascal

Physics > Graphics, so I hope it will, have good hadnlink, like rF or something like that, not like pCARS. Graphics looks good, track is too blury on pics from BSNismo, but it is nice.

    • gt3rsr

Have you played nK Pro? Of course it’s going to have great physics, it’s from the same creators! Some people even say nK Pro has better feeling than iRacing. It certainly is head and shoulders above everything rFactor can offer. Therefore I am not afraid about physics in AC. Beatiful DX11 graphics is just something like a nice bonus.

      • http://twitter.com/Uff182 Andrea Candini

It’s not only a nice bonus, but it’s something that should improve framerate too. 🙂
