Kunos Simulazioni has released a big batch of new Assetto Corsa previews, showing off the Ferrari F40.

The F40 is the second of five Ferraris in Assetto Corsa, following the Ferrari F458 Italia.

A mid-engined supercar, made in 1987 to celebrate 40 years of Ferrari road cars; the F40 was the fastest, most powerful and most expensive car sold by Ferrari at the time.

With a twin-turbocharged 2.9 litre V8 engine pushing out 471 horsepower, allied to a kerb weight of 1,100Kg, the F40 can find 60 mph from rest in under 4 seconds.  And with a top speed over over 200 mph the F40 held the world speed record for production cars in its day.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

The title will be available in Q1 2013, the title will feature licensed cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, BMW & Lotus. Assetto Corsa is set to be released in Q1 2013.

Very nice! AC and rF2 are the best………..

    • Anonymous

AC – yes. rF2 – no. rF2 is good only “on paper” with all that millions physics features.

      • Mrslfrsl

For some people it’s sure too much, lol.

      • Kendra Jacobs

Rf2 drives brilliantly for the most part, it’s definetely king of all sims right now from a pure driving point view, even if Assetto Corsa is better, rf2 will still at worst be 2nd best. If you can’t see the potential of it’s physics then you are a fanboy or against them for whatever personal reason you may have, because in driving, rf2 at the moment is second to none. AC may put it in second place though, hard to say as it’s in constant develo

Assetto Corsa please make it on steam, people need to play this masterpiece of physics, you guys deserve the greatest of success!

Thank you for the great lotus predemo, it’s a mix of rf2 and netkar pro, with the slightest, slightest, slightest touch of granturismo, best road car physics ever!

      • Roger

        AMEN! 🙂

      • GamerMuscle

Could you be so kind as to upload a video of you doing a lap in RF2 with one of the fast cars ?

      • Paul Todd

Can’t understand why every sim racer can’t share your view. The more sim titles the better I say

      • ___ ɥqp ___

        Who are you, like?

      • Anonymous

I’am the guy who goes track days in my own real car. And I played all the sims that exist on market. So I have something to compare with rF2. Maybe if all that stuff, developers made with physics, someday starts to work well – rf2 as final product will be good sim. But as for now there is no cartrack combination in rF2 that I can test and say: “This thing is brilliant”. But when I play AC – i can say so. It feels natural – and this is the main thing that sim should have. When I play rF2 – it don’t feels natural, and I don’t care that billions of things are calculated about each wheel when I do the turn.

      • ___ ɥqp ___

Well whoopeedoo, , “I go track racing, me”…do you want a medal and do you think you are unique in this?

You have no idea if AC will still feel brilliant until all the features are implemented, features which are in rF2 in some shape or form. Hopefully (and most very probably) it will.

This is a thread about a Ferrari for AC so why blather on about how much you dislike rF2. People like you are a joke! 🙂

      • Anonymous

I wish you not to have so much hate to this world, mate…

      • ___ ɥqp ___

        I don’t…. LOL!

  • Jukka Karppinen

My childhood dreams became (virtual)reality 🙂

  • Gregz0r

One can never have enough F40 in their lives.

    • Marco Hooghuis

It’s my first commandment: Thou shalt not ever be without Ferrari F40

  • Opse

Oh my god ! Crazy ! But i hope with the new brand DirectX11, AC team will save them ” economics graphics”, because the demo/beta we have, it’s a beautiful game, and it run easily on a lot of computers.

3 days and Q1 has ended. That means I have to keep this weekend free?

    • Michael Hornbuckle

This site is the only one that hasn’t gotten the message about AC not being released until Spring; not Q1……Still a couple months to go more than likely.

      • ___ ɥqp ___

Boooo, marked this post down cos its not what I want to hear!

    • gt3rsr

No need for hurry, I still don’t have a new rig. 😉

      • Anonymous

Well I’ve spend some extra hours into my rig to get it ready for release. So now I know a had a couple of months extra…

  • Mickael Forestier

    yep 3 days left for Q1 2013 ^^

    • BackMarker

IIRC, KS changed the projected release date to Spring 2013. So that means we may have to wait until the end of spring?

      • Nazirull Safry Paijo

Its already Spring here in Glasgow. Which country spring are they waiting for? Timbucktu??

  • Roger

This will be epic! This is the car I’m thinking about when driving the Lotus now in the tech preview! 🙂

  • GamerMuscle

I’m really eager to see how the faster / race cars drive in AC , also how cars like this F40 handle when it comes to drifting/raw car movements, with it maybe finally being the game that offers that sense of grip but with progressive yet sometimes violent slip behaver.

The lotus in the TD is spot on for what you would expect from a lotus , If AC also has well handling fast race cars this could be the dream driving simulator with it likely to become the next RF1 in content , but with the graphics and physics advancements allot of sim racers have been crying for.

Already The TD looks fantastic and yet still runs at 80+ fps with soft shadows 4XAA and details on high.

If it all comes together my mind will be blown , with AC likely to be one of the best titles of 2013.

    • gt3rsr

The mainstream gaming media will never ackowledge this as one of the best 2013 games overall… even in the category of racing games, bet they’ll praise something like GRID 2 much more… for me however, this looks like not only the game of the year, but like the best ‘game’ of the several past years…

      • GamerMuscle

Its sad really , Most people don’t realise that you can get incredible multi-player racing on real world tracks that are identical to the metre.

Most peoples knowledge of driving games even those that watch and are passionate about motor sport stops at Forza or some arcade game.

Its cringe worthy whenever you do see driving games or simulators covered on tv with them not even covering the relevant points.

Even from a raw game mechanic game design perspective , driving simulators offer un-paralleled depth in terms of what the player is doing an interacting with.

Who knows maybe if the oculus rift becomes popular it will introduce more casual less discerning players to the wonders of driving simulators.

      • Richard Hessels

Identical to the metre is not so difficult, most google maps aerial photos have more resolution than that. Nicest thing with proper laserscanning you go far beyond the the metre.. to the centimeter.

      • ___ ɥqp ___

“The mainstream gaming media will never ackowledge this as one of the best 2013 games overall.”

Kunos could easily fix that by fixing machine guns and cannons to the cars and having a 1,000kph turbo button. 🙂

      • Wally Masterson

TBH, who cares. To hell with the mainstream. They can keep their shiny, sparkly things. I just want to raaaaace!

      • GamerMuscle

Its just annoying because if these games got the coverage they deserved maybe more people would know about them and maybe the developers would get more £$ for the effort they put in.

So its not really about caring what other people think , its more about if they knew about it everyone would be better off , more users to race against , more sim developers and better simulators.

As it is simulation is borderline dead , fortunetly a sim developer can make money from race teams ,promotion booth people and other areas outside of just public game sales.

      • MattBeastblood

That’s because the mainstream gaming media is completely incompetent. Even Gran Turismo doesn’t get the praise it deserves because the people who review games are just so completely clueless about racing games. All they no is NFS and burnout so they think that’s what racing games are supposed to be like.

    • Roger

If all this plays out and the other cars are as realisticly modelled as the Lotus in the tech preview, this will be the best title since Grand Prix Legends in 1999!!! 😀

      • gt3rsr

GPL is even older, it’s a 1998 release.

  • Guilherme Cramer

This is my favorite car of all time. Despite the lack of a career mode, Assetto Corsa has guaranteed my purchase.

  • Kamil Szmyt
    • Damon Clewlow

Actually that’s quite significant – as not only does it look great, but also means it WILL be possible for that Mazda MR2 mod to have working pop-up lights!

      • Mart Välja

Why stop there? It will enable pop-up rear wings as well (Bugatti Veyron, some Porsche models etc), which is much more important in a sim title. Though I must admit, those pop-up lights look sexy. Oh, and will this enable cabriolets to put roof up and down? That would be so awesome.

  • Damon Clewlow

    Very moist.

  • Anonymous

With all due respect I want to hear it please. I’ve been this excited by visuals before.

  • Ricoo

    Q2 2013 🙁

  • vilivili

Mamma Mia! That Italian artwork looks sooo tasty!

  • Hanzales

The day Assetto Corsa will be released I’ll need a new pants! I feel this is something I’m waiting for a years… If I can complain about anything, it’s the sound engine, but maybe there is just bigger contrast next to everything else perfectly made. Kunoz guys, you really have to love racing a lot! I can see your effort just everywhere!

    • Roger

I agree, but there is already mods for sounds in the tech preview, if a sound is not perfect in AC there will be optional mods for each car to download! 😀

    • gt3rsr

It has an aura of magic similar to GPL or (unreleased) Racing Legends…

      • Roger

I was about to mention that, I was one of the forum hogs for Racing Legends (or WSC) waiting for the West brothers to deliver. Such a shame that it didnt happen.

AC will be what Racing Legends promised to be and a lot more! And we have nkPRO and the tech demo to prove its not all hype!

  • Chris Allen

    I just wet myself.

  • StarFoXySxv550

Quite possibly the best Ferrari ever made.. in my mind.

    • Anonymous

Not only in yours, I love Ferraris, old and new, but in the top of my list there always will be F40, I love the new Ferrari design like the 458, La Ferrari and the F12 , but F40 is just pure insanity and for the years it was made in. Just look at the power to liter ratio, in 1987, 471hp out of 2.9l engine, just out of the factory just had to make the jaws drop.

    • Toni

Nice work on the sound mod, original one sounded like an air dryer.

    • Roger

That is REALLY nice!! I wrote a post on this video for the guy to try out AC and if the stock sound is not at this level for the F40 port this sound mod to AC!! 🙂

Imagine realistic physics, great visuals, a red Ferrari F40, Nordschleife and that sound! Wow… That will be the best sim racing experience of my life!! 🙂

    • Kendra Jacobs

Sounds awesome, how about this one?

I think they might be both based on the exact same sounds (F40 lemans race version).

    • Kendra Jacobs

Sounds great. What about this one?

I have a feeling they are both based on the same sounds (F40 GTE or LM, they sound nothing like the road car).

  • Lachlan Salter

  • Nicolas Grignon

she looks great BUT does she sounds nice? The lotus was very very disappointing and AC sound engine are far behind the new references (RRE and iRacing)….

  • Matt Orr

So, LaFerrari is Ferrari’s modern F40 more or less. So two things…
    A) One wonders if it’ll be in AC…. Evil thought there.
    B) The F40 is comparatively slow by modern standards for what we now know as a hypercar… how fast can a car go in the year 2040? O.O

  • Kamil Szmyt
  • Den Burnout

    Very nice!

  • Lukas

That is funny cos my mate who RACES said opposite.

  • Nazirull Safry Paijo

well isnt the 2013 Q1 ended already? no launch? *whistles*
