Assetto Corsa – First Gameplay Videos

First gameplay videos of Kunos Simulazioni’s upcoming Assetto Corsa title have surfaced on Youtube.

First gameplay videos of Kunos Simulazioni’s upcoming Assetto Corsa title have surfaced on Youtube.

The videos show the P4/5 Competitizione at Imola and the Lotus 49 at Monza, giving us the first ever chance to check out the new simulation in motion.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

The games looks even better in motion than in screen shots.  If the physics and FFB are even better than in NKPRO, with a good multiplayer, well…it’s the simracers dream coming true.

    • Anonymous

If the physics and FFB are exactly the same but it has more tracks and decent multi-player that alone will do.

I’d be playing NKP right now if it had any users on-line and well configured servers

At this point in time RF2 offers the best pick up and play multil-player on the ISR server with the meganes ( but I’m board of the car and 3 tracks get dull after 10+ hours with slow cars)

LFS used to be really good for casual on-line play but all the servers now run the fox car or other slow cars which are only really fun on the SO city tracks and with lots of other people.

i racing is ok with slow cars but they don’t have the user numbers for the faster cars and it comparitevly costs allot more than the other sims.

So yah lol fingers crossed AC delivers , its far more likely to provide high quality graphics along with high quality physics and FFB than pCars but if both pCars and AC deliver that would be amazing.

      • kr1nz

If they are the same it would be good too, I just have high expectations. 🙂

    • Anonymous

Credit should be given to the guys from Radiator Springs Racing, who put this video together, you can also read their thoughts on the physic, reported over at RD, they say the physic are better than nkp

      • Anonymous

Being that Kunos legacy is sim racing, I have no doubt this will be a sim, the only question is how excellent it’ll be!!

      • Anonymous

Will it be as good as PCars though? 😉

  • Alain Nabizada

The sounds seems very good too

    • Anonymous

And the sounds are even a placeholder. 🙂

  • Anonymous

    Instant buy.

  • wojtas maday

and we can forget about p.C.. S

  • Matt Orr

This reminds me a lot of GTR2. Only today. That is a very good thing.

  • Luke Russell

The sound engine for Assetto Corsa is amazing.

  • Lasse Jakobi Ougaard

Notice it’s the up-and-coming Fanatec wheel they use. Looks like the same session as the photos of Jackermeier ealier today.

Looks good, but there’s still a lot to do by the looks of it.

I’m getting my hopes high that either Asetto or GTR3 will be the ultimate endurance racing sim.

  • Theroro29

Where is the button “buy now”?? 🙂

  • Pandamasque

@Luke Russell How can you tell that from these vids? The only thing I could definitely tell behind that animated Italian conversation is that P4/5 sounds are completely wrong, and very likely to be replaced later.

    • Marco Conti

I couldn’t hear anyone talking about the sounds. In the third video someone jokingly said “you made it too easy” but especially in the first video beside some meaningless exclamations I could not hear the conversation.

Which video did they discuss the sounds? I can take the audio track into my DAW and try to give you a translation.

Shut up Kunos and take my money!

  • Anonymous

    Take my money already!

  • Big Ron

Looks pretty nice in handling and graphics. Really worth a try.

  • Anonymous

First footage of something new is always exciting stuff!
and GTR3 is yet to make an appearance… it’s a damn good year for us!

  • rafael_design

I am a little skeptical about it now after seeing this gameplay. The steering wheel seem too steady. Nothing like bumps interfering in steering. So now I am afraid of it being great in graphics and not in physics.
You may say: “Wait, it just beta or alpha version…” the first videos ISI showed us about rFactor2 was the new tyre model related stuff, which is great…Thats why I am with ISI.

    • Anonymous

      good for u 🙂

      • rafael_design

    • Justin ForzaBarça Cruze

Kunos would have had to take an awful lot of backward steps given physics in NKP is already more than great……

    • Radiator Springs Racing Team

I don’t know how you can say this from a video, but I can tell you that it’s just the opposite when you drive AC for real. This was one of our comments on our forum:

You all know how good is the force feedback on netKar PRO. You will be shocked by AC! The car feels really natural. Easy to understand what’s happing all the time. Even in a fast corner you continuously feel your wheel reacting to the little bumps on the track. It just feels damn right!

    • General Rush Hour

I take it you haven´t played either NKPro or FVA…

      People who knows…KNOW 🙂

  • Guilherme Cramer

Just to comment on something not mentioned previously, the virtual steering wheel moves almost instantly with the real one. That looked awesome!

    • Theroro29

My virtual steering wheel also moves instantly with Iracing, GSC, Netkar pro. It’s not a revolution!

      • Anonymous

it is to people who have ever played the shift series..

  • Mike Cimuchowski

    Looks fantastic! Cannot wait!

  • Anonymous

“Great to try Assetto Corsa, that although is still a work
in progress, is already shockingly good. We have all have dribbled
after the amazing screenshots they showed, but it’s incredible to see
the same level of details at full speed. The scenary is simply amazing.
It looks gorgeous, and feels fantastic on the wheel. The laser scanning
gives you a very nice feeling while driving. You all know how good is the force feedback on netKar PRO. You will
be shocked by AC! The car feels really natural. Easy to understand
what’s happing all the time. Even in a fast corner you continuously feel
your wheel reacting to the little bumps on the track. It just feels
    damn right!
And all this is only in the current stage of development, with few
months ahead from the public release. According to Kunos there is still a
huge margin for improvements, and I can’t really imagine what will be
in our hands when this sim will be released.

During our day of testing we all noticed a strange behaviour of the
car on some curbs in few conditions. Guess what? The day after that
issue wasn’t there anymore. Stefano woke up really early in the morning
to understand what was wrong, and fixed the issue.”

    Dedication to the max baby!

    • Anonymous

After reading this, I’m now dumping my idea for shifter for my b-day (January), it can wait, AC can’t (probably Christmas gift or something) 🙂 . Funniest is that I actually really do believe that Kunos is able to do it, as there is just so much dedication in them as seen in the last little part. Let’s wait and hope for the best at the release! 🙂

  • Justin ForzaBarça Cruze

    All I can say is…..

  • Da

As for the car sound .. it sounds very familiar to me.

Oh found it! Here it is

  • Rhys Gardiner

I keep throwing money at my monitor but NOTHING HAPPENS. D’:

    • Anonymous

You’re doing it wrong.   Here… let me give you my Paypal address…. 🙂

  • Mike

**** everything else, this is the saviour for all simracers.

  • Radiator Springs Racing Team

as we said on our forum:Just few notes about videos you see. This is obviously just a work in progress version, so what you see is just what they have in the current stage of development. A lot of the things you see are not completed. Sounds, for example, are just place holders. Same for some of the effects on the lights/shadows, and so on and so on. Take those videos as a preview, and not of course of the final result.

Saying that…I’m still can’t believe to what we’ve all seen there. It just stunning!

  • Wally Masterson

Not that you can really tell a great deal from these videos….
I was a little disappointed to see no driver’s arms and hands.  I hope that will still come.  To me it looks a lot better than a wheel turning by itself.
    Nonetheless… I’m excited!

    • Theroro29

      I haven’t the same advice: i don’t like see driver’s arms when i drive

    • Steve Ford

I don’t mind arms in the sim but they aren’t a deal breaker for me.  I play the crap out of netkar and it has no arms.  🙂

      • Wally Masterson

Agree – no arms is hardly a deal breaker, just a nice to have.  I’m quite used to no arms in nkp, believe me.
Like others, this is an instant buy for me.

  • Markus Ott

A real screen capture would have been even more awesome. But it looks nice in motion nevertheless!
I’d really wish Kunos would team up with SMS. project Assetto Corsa ^^
For the first time I’d say: take care pCARS, and speed up the FFB development!

    • sargentjack86

Please no, no, no, no, no, no. Kunos and his team will produce the most advanced comercially available racing simulation to date, having already produced the brilliant netKar Pro. SMS will produce SHI(F)T 3…..a glorified screenshot simulator, nothing more.

The FFB in PCARS is awful….has been since day one. I garantee you the FFB in AC was amazing from day one, or at least a rough diamond. SMS just keep applying the coats of gold paint to that smelly old turd.

The two titles will not even be in competition with each other.

      • Anonymous

got to agree, they are working on different ends of the spectrum…maybe take the pcars tracks and add them to this title…

      • Matt Orr

Seeing how AC is going laser at least on several tracks, no.

      • Anonymous

I was pretty much getting at the fact that a conversion by some talented modder will probably become available to add to the AC content not competing with the laser scanned beauties of course! 🙂

    • General Rush Hour

Thank god you have no affiliation whatsoever with AC.

  • gt3rsr

Really, for me, simracing wise, this overshadows everything else this year and probably for next few years…

  • Anonymous

I don’t usually get hyped on any game, but its impossible to not get hyped with AC, especially knowing how much great NKpro was. Must buy for me, it seems that this game will get me stuck home on lots of weekends.

  • Radiator Springs Racing Team
  • Pascal

hmm, it looks really good. (r2 + AC) Can’t wait.

  • Dylan H.

    Really looking forward to this.

  • Anonymous

the circuits looks amazing already, I wish they would do an ‘iracing’ and go round scanning after initial release, i would pay for the tracks in an instant!!

  • Gulyás Tamás

    wow !
This gonna be a sim !

  • Tuttle

    Italians do it better….:)

  • Eric Zehnder

Didn’t see any correcting or oversteer on the old GP car – total arcade. Simcade at best.

::slaps self – able to enjoy multiple sims now::

This looks really good. Hoping they release a demo. Wish I had a belt-driven wheel for awesome FFB but Logitech G27 will have to do!

    • Steve Ford

simcade at best?  You obviously haven’t tried netkar.  It’s cheap, you should pick it up.

      • Anonymous

“simcade” 🙂    LOL, gotta love made up words.

What about Arculation ?   Simcade sounds like a fizzy drink.  Mind you, arculation doesn’t sound all that clean 🙂

  • MosportMike

This is just downright beautiful.  His physics and tire models have always been great.  I can’t wait to experience what Kunos has learned over the years!!

  • Art J

I’m a bit disappointed with almost no body roll and pitching in the Lotus car ( I hope it’s just a question of extremely stiff setup chosen for the test), other than that – VERY promising vids for such an early development stage. Keep up the good work!

  • Anonymous

    one more video popped up

    best one by far

    drifting bmw 1m

  • Jorge Araujo

    rfactor what?

  • Felix Schmidberger

I m amazed by the incredible work of the small but very talented team at Kunos. This is definitely a must buy for me, out of respect for their passionate work alone. But also because their games are good, of course.

That said: If those were videos about project cars, the hater bandwagon would parade all over this comment section with songs of “input lag”, “dead steering wheel” and “arcade physics”.

  • Ricoo

    Instant buy for me too.

Seeing so many wheels at a developer tells a lot on what is really important for them.

    • gt3rsr

We all know AC is gonna be a no compromise sim. “Mr. Kunos” himself said it.

  • Theroro29

It’s a new area for Simracers: GP3, GPL, GTR2, Rfactor are part of the past now

Asseto Corsa will be a huge commercial success
It also probably will kill Rfactor 2: most of modders will migrate on AC platform

    • Anonymous

      Crystal ball troll alert 😀

      • Theroro29

Rfactor 2 fanboy party! Let’s go Let’s go!!!! Don’t worry you will be alone Playing Rfactor 2 in 1 or 2 years. Everybody Will migrate on Asseto Corsa and Pcars

      • Steve Ford

I’m going to enjoy rF2 AND AC.  Does that make me a rF2 fanboy as well?

      • Anonymous

or AC and RF2 more likely…

      • Anonymous

That’s pretty much my plan for the next few years. I think both AC and rF2 are gonna be more than enough. Not see anything about night racing, endurance racing etc for AC so rF2 is a must,  always was a must but rF2 has it all basically already but we don’t know what AC will have. Then off course is GTR3, things are looking awesome, right now rF2 has me 100% hooked

  • Anonymous

This surely is the most highly anticipated, most trustworthy sim in development. I have such high hopes (well founded) that this one is going to tick every box on every sim racers wish list (or die trying).

I’m like a kid on Christmas eve with this one 🙂

  • Nathan Robinson

Sims like this are going to reinspire me to finally build a sturdy cockpit and upgrade to triple screen. I cant wait along with the rest of you guys 🙂

  • Alejandro Gorgal

Game looks awesome, it’s crazy to think it’s being made by so few people, looking forward to it.

    • Lachlan Salter

I know right I mean look at every other sim that says it can’t be done like rf2 reason for not having laser scanning is it is too expensive for a relatively small studio. and the physics, how much money most serious sim studios spent on physics (pcars budget over 1mil pounds)

  • Anonymous

It seems that most people criticizing/skeptical with the game are the ones that NOT played nkpro.

go play the game, seriously. Even If AC had carbon copy physics of nkpro, would be good enough. Let alone an evolution.

    • Guilherme Cramer

NKpro was abandoned for years, maybe that’s why some complain. It is very doubtful that Kunos will disappear again.

      • Anonymous

what about all the updates that he’s been bringing out for it lately, adding weather moddability etc…

      • Theroro29

Rfactor 2 fanboy spam alert! :))

  • Andrea Candini

Jon Denton has just posted a new video, this time with Formula Abarth!

    • Justin Schmidt

nice. too bad it isn’t longer. liked the conversation in the backround.

  • Radiator Springs Racing Team

And some more videos on our forum (for some reasons I can’t link it anymore)

    • Andrea Candini
      • Radiator Springs Racing Team

Thanks a lot, Andrea. You’re luckier than me.

    • Anonymous

Your post was getting ‘spammed’ by the system.  Not sure why.  I`ll check it out.
Meanwhile I`ve approved the post you made with the link even though its a bit late for that now 🙂

      Cheers for the link though.

  • Anonymous

Now this is what PCars aspires to be like.  Can’t wait.

    • Anonymous

heh, seriously man, you’re trying too hard. 🙂

But yeah, I can’t wait either !   Wheeee!
