Kunos Simulazioni has released a new video trailer of their Assetto Corsa title, revealing the addition of Ferrari.

The studio just released a new video trailer, showing off the Ferrari 458 at Monza. The Italian make is the biggest licensing announcement in Assetto Corsa to date, following up makes like Lotus, BMW & Pagani.

No info on which exact models will be included is available yet as AC will feature five different models from the Italian manufacturer. Also part of the license is the Mugello Circuit as perfect proving ground for the prancing horse.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

Assetto Corsa will be available in Q1 2013.

Legendary cars in what will become legendary SIM

  • Péter Kerényi

Just….awesome…. Another reason it’s gonna be my favourite simulator 🙂

  • Jeroen de Wit

Aww yeah! Looks awsome, can’t wait for the other Ferrari cars to be announced. Hopefully a 70’s era F1 car or some of their classic GT’s.

  • Damon Clewlow

Take my MONEY! TAKE IT! FOR F*** SAKE!!

How I’d love to see cars we haven’t seen much in sims (older pre-2000) such as the 288 GTO, 355 challenge, 328, 330 P3/P4.. aww Santa.

  • chris

I want to paaaaayyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please, Kunos, TAKE MY MONEY!

Well, now… how do they feel @ ISI, SMS and Simbin now?

Ferrari, Lotus, Pagani, BMW… Monza, Silverstone, Imola and possibly Nurburg…
    Dx11 graphics, surely great phisycs…
It just have to be a nightmare for them…

    • C4

These 3 had their chances for years to impress and get loyal followers and fanbase.

I hope we will see a healthy competition and (more or less) full releases of those titles (or more) next year 🙂

      • Anonymous

“I hope we will see a healthy competition and (more or less) full releases of those titles (or more) next year :)”

Yep, totally agree. The more competition there is, the better the sims should be.

      • Anonymous

Exactly, people are talking as if one sim is enough, my plate is big enough to hold Assetto corsa, Project cars & rFactor 2.

Not sure about the rest, because they are on line only, and you don’t really own it if you can’t play it off line, when you don’t want to be on line.

Why have a tea cup saucers and one sim, when you can have a buffet plate & have them all.

  • Paul

    Game, set, and match

    • Anonymous

I posted exactly the same comment over at iRacing’s forums at pretty much the same time. We must be in simnerd synch mode or something 😀

    • Roger

I was also thinking the exact same thing, this is it, its all over… When you already felt AC this was maxed out they completely blow us away with this…

Such excellent timing and marking work!

The video is really epic as well, got me goose bumps when they switched to engine sounds! 🙂

  • Emil Ytterberg Blixt

Thats it! I’m fedexing my money to Kunos HQ wether they want it or not!!!

  • Anonymous

    Is there damage model?

    • Juha Mikkola

They said somewhere that the cars should be able to be totally demolished, what ever that means. I would be happy to have proper mechanical damage by abusing them on the track (curbs , shifting, overrevving and whatnot..) and that should be in there too 🙂

  • Lemming77

The glory and wonder of Ferrari machinery mixed with the simulation quality of Kunos?

  • Raphael Dos Reis Oliveira

1:30, look at the driver, AWESOME!

Looks like Gran Turismo 5, and with that cockpit view reminds me GTR2, man, this game’s gonna be an epic! o/

    Nothing else to add.

    Didn’t see that coming.

Also take my money. Take my social life.

  • pez2k .

Very impressed, I thought MS’ stranglehold on the license was firm, but perhaps they don’t mind letting it go for non-console games. Still, someone at Kunos must be VERY persuasive!

    • Nicolas Grignon

They have done FVA which was amazing, so It was expected that Ferrari gave their chance back to Kunos, especially if they showed them some footage of AC which are quite impressive.

      • pez2k .

Of course yes, forgot all about FVA!

  • GamerMuscle

This is good news and I’m sure the brand weight behind having a Ferrari will do well for sales.

However Personally I’m much more excited for cars like the Lotus 98T , Tatuus Prototype and the KTM X-BOW as they are far more appealing for racing + race craft.

  • Stuart Fields

Such a highly anticipated title and a massive reveal in the form of Ferrari and THAT trailer was the best they could come up with. Amazing news but still….come on guys, that was weak.

    • jnwspencer

Would you rather they work on the video or the game?

  • Jim Slimjim Cassi

    I just wet myself.

  • Mirza Maruf Ahmed

I hope they license cars that are usually not found in other games like the 512s, 512bblm, 312 p alongside the all time greats like the 250, 275, 330, etc

  • Sean van der Burg

This is going to be an epic multiplayer experience! Only thing left to get is a Nordschleife!

  • Roger

    GAME OVER!!!!

  • Roger

Hope they also include the F40 and a classic GT like the 250 GTO!

This is just amazing news… Wow…

    • Skytrill

      F40 would be amazing indeed

  • F1Racer

458 !!! I would say count me in, but I already was in !

  • Jim. C

As others have said: JUST TAKE MY MONEY, TAKE IT!!!

This could well be the benchmark sim.

  • Markus Ott

    Holy… I didn’t expect that.
I hope they will bring a Ferrari 641 (the most beautiful F1 car of all times!) and the 333 SP.

But even if it only will be road cars this is HUGE for sim racing.

    • Skytrill

The 641.. excalibur. Imagine diving in Lesmo 1, Ascari and the Parabolica with the sound of that engine. Prost and Mansell were lucky guys.

  • gt3rsr

Even as a Porsche fan, this is a checkmate lol 🙂

  • Varazdat Markosyan

Tired of waiting. This year promised several simulators, but no one has kept his word.

  • Ricoo

Nice trailer. Great graphics, laser scanned tracks, great licences, with nKPro physics, this rocks. 🙂

Give us an F40 (LM) and i’ll buy this game twice !

  • Anonymous

As much as it is nice to have a ferrari licence, would be cooler to have more historic cars.

For example, a 312 would be nice and give something to contrast the lotus 49b.

What makes gpl so good is basically the tracks and also the (almost) full field of contrasting cars. I am guessing it wouldn’t be too costly to licence other cars too – in rfactor 2 they have apparently got some of the historic licences free, as they are rather belonging to individuals, who seem more understanding rather than out to make a shedload!

In gpl it’s really cool how each car has it’s own strengths and weaknesses – for example, the cooper might not be that powerful, but it handles well and has by far the best brakes, which means on flowing twisty circuits it can actually do a reasonable pace.

BRM P83 with H16 would be mental cool!

Old circuits really make the game too – they are so much more flowing, bumpy and interesting, with a lot more character.

I feel it would be worth the effort to make old versions of any track the manage to licence – they already are for monza and silverstone but imagine if they did it for imola or a pre 70s castration nurburgring (inc südschleife – one can dream).

Don’t tell me this doesn’t look cool (from 1963):

    it’s all about the hay-bales!

Also what about some abarth action (incidentally, this would be a cool licence considering they already have the current 500 abarth)

Circuit has had safety improved quite a bit by 1970 by the looks of it, but layout is still the same, if with a little less atmosphere.

But yer, historic tracks are paramount to the experience too – that’s what killed gtl for me – modern tyres and modern tracks and all that spoil the experience. It’s like missing the point of why historic racing is so cool.

Basically my point is, if you are doing historic content, make a big thing of it, please don’t make it a token gesture.

Rfactor 2 seems to be at least trying quite hard with it, I hope assetto corsa will do the same 🙂

Anyway, the sim seems like it will be good either way – just my thoughts / some advice / wishes!

    • Michael Hornbuckle

You probably already know but the Power and Glory mod for GTR2 is simply amazing for historic cars. Hopefully the GTLW team will find a way to convert P&G to Assetto Corsa.

Back on topic: the 458 in FVA is among the best sim cars ever in my eyes so I can’t wait to see how different it feels in AC.

      • Anonymous

Yes, P&G3 looks really good, I just need to sort myself out with gtr2 to try it.
One problem with it is it doesn’t recreate the circuits of the racing series it tries to recreate though – which is a bit of a shame.
There are some gpl conversions of old circuits but then gpl circuits are always limited by what the old gpl engine can do in terms of fidelity, tiny bumps, corner radius “smoothness” etc etc.

Recent gpl modding especially is of a really good quality though, and it is amazing how far they are pushing the engine.

But as you can imagine, converting tracks especially, will never be the same as making from scratch unless a lot of work goes into it to take advantage of extra engine “abilities”.

    • myName

I agree, getting the ferrari 312 would be awesome to pair it with a lotus 49. And maybe try to get some cars from those years as well later on to get some gpl thing going on. Other similar pair could be the lotus 98T and Ferrari F1/86. Of course the 312B could be paired with the Lotus 72 so there is yet other choises.

Probably not a good idea to get so many vintage single seaters but it would still be good if there was one ferrari and one lotus from the same year :).

      • Anonymous

Well I don’t see much of a problem with having multiple cars from the same year.
Instead, I would encourage it, as it gives a contrast and depth in field.
A well balanced field can provide a lot more nuance and interest than spec racing ever can.

Also, when you recreate a season (as gpl mods do), with all the tracks and cars and atmosphere to a high standard, it really gives a good historical insight too. You learn a lot about things that way too and it can be quite interesting.

      • myName

Oh my bad. What I meant to say is having multiple historical single seaters and all of them being from different years is not a good thing if they all are from different years and can not really race each others. Having multiple cars from a single year is just pure awesomeness though imho.

Just having few more cars from ’67 season would be just awesome. Of course it is a possibility that modders will help as well!

  • Dani .

Ohh the best. You are doing the things right kunos.

    I want a F355, F40 and F50 please !!!

  • Dani .

If it has sounds as raceroom this will be for sure the best sim ever. Please Kunos make a good modable egine sound!

  • Wally Masterson

End of the world? More like BEGINNING OF THE WORLD.

  • Ben Lee

  • Matt Orr

Wee. Another game with the most overloved ugly duckling known as the 458. I still am yet to see what everyone seems to love so much about that car. Well, I spose it does have a nice interior….

But hopefully this will bring a AWESOME Ferrari. Such as the F12, F40, F2004, or just about anything before 1975 or so. But yea, the 458 is ugly.

    • Michael Hornbuckle

Drive the 458 in Ferrari Virtual Academy and you might feel differently. Looks are nice in the real world but driving experience is the end goal and it is an absolute pleasure to drive in FVA

    • F1Racer

      I love opinions, don’t you ? 🙂

Over-loved. Not heard that one before. What a concept.

    • Roger

I have driven the 458 IRL and it is pretty much the most amazing thing on wheels there is.

The way this car sounds and reacts to your inputs feels like nothing else around… A car like the Lambo LP560-4 (which is also a great car, one of the best in fact) does not even come close, they are not in the same league.

    • Anonymous

“I still am yet to see what everyone seems to love so much about that car.”

With that statement, it’s obvious that you haven’t been following the motoring press and community for the last couple of years. In fact, with such complete ignorance it’s surprising you’ve even heard about the car :-))

(I can think of ONE other possibility for your statement than actual ignorance, but it’s not very popular to mention that)

  • Charles Sami Amyouni

I should have never bought TDFRL… so hurry up and TAKE MY MONEY!

  • Juha Mikkola

    Personally I would like to see a rival for the lotus 72 and/or to the 98T -> Ferrari F1 312B 2/3 / F1 86

  • Jim Slimjim Cassi

Everybody got -1 vote from some fanboy of another sim,…lol
grow the “F” up, your mom’s calling you for dinner.

  • Philip Samuelson

WOW! What a grab, congrats to Kunos! That’s a hell of an accomplishment!

  • Richard Hessels

Wow… nice addition.. this is a great addition to the list.
Funny to see the “fanboy” posts here; take my money!!
One would almost hope the first version released becomes a big dissapointment, just to read the reactions here.
Offcourse everything would come in place at v1.1 a few weeks later.
Than everybody except for some other studio’s would be happy again in the end.

    • Skytrill

sure there are fanboys always repeating the same clichés.. but how could someone wish that Kunos, a studio so passionate, turn AC into a disappointment.. unless you are a fanboy of something else yourself?

  • Ben Lee

Any Ferrari is great, though if I could choose, I would prefer some older Ferrari machinery.

    • Bgis

looks like you might get what you wish for…

      Ferrari official license

Assetto Corsa’s garage will include a
selection of Ferrari models to excite all generations of fans of the “Rossa

  • Anonymous

Still want to see BMW 1M Coupe in action, but I’am ready to pay now !!!! If someday they will do some free ride with such physics and graphics – I’ll sold em my soul.

  • Guy Moulton

There will be no damage model now. Ferrari tightly controls how much damage they allow when a company signs a contract with them. So on one hand it’s cool to have Ferrari on board, OTOH, I’d rather see other cars in the game and have a decent damage model.

    • Juha Mikkola

Probably these guys didn’t read their contract then…

      • Guy Moulton

LOL he abuses that car, bounces off walls, hits a wall square on at about 150MPH and drives off like nothing happened. Thank you for proving my point for me. Damage has to be more than cosmetic to mean anything. This is what AC will become- no real damage.

      • Juha Mikkola

Glad that you are so sure about it 😀

  • Anonymous
  • Pascal

Nice, I hope sound was ingame, really great. From videos it looks excellent I hope it will be fun to drive something like rF.

  • Anonymous

netKar Pro has the best physics in sim racing by far and having Ferrari in AC is simply amazing!

  • Anonymous

Seems like they only ever use Imola and Monza in videos and demos. Wondering how the progress of other tracks is going.

  • Anonymous

Yes this is a wonderful thing. Congratulations to Kunos for getting this highly coveted license.

  • Avecezar

This statement of Kunos I like most: “We just ask you to remember that what you have seen, what we are able to show you, is just the tip of the iceberg.”

So we enjoy watching the tip of the iceberg: great looking detailed cars, variety of brands, laser-scanned tracks, detailed real-like environment, eye-catching visuals.

I presume what is invisible for us at the moment what is below the tip of the iceberg must be excellent physics, stable and precise net code, challenging and natural AI, amazing customization, unlimited modding possibilities, code optimization for optimal performance and more.

All this should bring the greatest simracing experience and satisfaction to this time.

  • Silvio

Please God, don’t let me die before try it… please!

  • Marwan Al Hemairi

AC = GT5 of PC …. no even better.

    Now take my money!!!

  • Roger

As 2tyred mentioned earlier, the Ferrari 312 ’67 F1 car would be amazing to compete with the Lotus 49!
