    wow didn’t see this coming!!

-amazing graphics looks as good as CARS tbh even more realistic (textures from Culmone?)
-best physics engine on the market
    -AI
    -licensed content
    -laser scanned track

    cant wait for this

2012 might just be the year where sim racing goes to next level

So… This is the new scratch built DX11 game engine that Stefano Casillo was talking about last year in his interview posted here on VirtualR.  I can’t wait to try it out.

    • General Rush Hour

      Any link to that mate?

I play iRacing but they can keep it now, this will be my new home without a doubt.

Sounds like an rFactor 2 killer.  2012 will be an amazing year for sim racing!

2012 to be best sim year ever?!

    • SimRacer007

I think it might if things continue like this 🙂

  • Romain JAOUEN

    WOW!!!!

    Indeed it looks simply amazing.

    Rfactor 2 is already dead.

    • Anonymous

Man, these kind of unappreciative words are so irritating.

rFactor 2 isn’t dead to me and I’m sure I speak for many others.  Nowhere near.
Is there a rule somewhere that limits the amount of sims a sim-racer can play.

rF2 will still be most modded sim around.  Wait and see.

      • Matt Orr

        Most modded? Yes.

However, it’s quality that matters. Everyone and their brother can do something to the ISI sims to make something “their own”, be it simple engine swaps to full on addons.

I don’t know if it’s the iRacer in me, but I can’t do more than one sim anymore. Heck, I can’t even do multiple cars anymore, I feel slow then. :p

      • rui silva

i guess the iracer in you is all for censorship then … let creativity flourish, who are we to critise, we either like the mods or we dont! let the creaters create!

      • Matt Orr

My rFactor install consists of about 5 mods and 15 tracks or so. Two mods see semi regular play time (CART Factor and a custom modded Endurance Series install). I used to car and sim hop, now I feel like I’m going slower (and I am) than if I actually truly stuck with one. That is why I can’t get into more than one sim SERIOUSLY, because they are all different and demand the time to learn the subtle nuances to get the most out of them.

Anyways, You want the rubbish, go ahead. But that is what it is – rubbish. Very few mods are actually worth installing. So who cares about numbers when those numbers consist of loads of junk?

It’s quality, not quantity that determines what the community becomes. I support modding and have modded my game to suit my ideals, be it physics or painting. Modding is good, but read the post I responded to which suggests that because rF2 will be modded more it is somehow the king.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WC76SPODOMRNL3QTA4T5NMDVRI Dude

I’m know what you mean but I’m incapable of sticking to one car or one sim. I grew up on gran turismo, I’m more into collecting than I am into racing lol I’d be a terrible race driver if ever made it in real life, I’d probably try to swap racing series in the middle of a season hahaha

      • Romain JAOUEN

        ISI makes me laughing.
Original mods from Rfactor are peace of shit, outdated now.
Most tracks i drive are from Simbin conversions, Shift…
Community use their spare time to developp mods for free, and now ISI want people pay monthly payment for an already outdated game (no direct x10 or x11, graphics already outdated (Rfactor 3 will be pubished in 2016), no laser scanned tracks )
ISI takes 4 years to publish a fucking beta version and you have to pay full price for that.
I liked Rfactor… but for me it’s finished.

      • Romain JAOUEN

        it’s just a warning
Rfactor could lost his first place in simracing in 2012.

Looks good and all, But can’t say i would purchase this right away. Would have to wait a few months to see if on-line takes off. NKpro bombed hard with the few and empty servers that are around. Sad, really NKpro has the best ffb of any sim i ever used.

  • Danny Bouwes

    2012

  • Anonymous

Holy crap, another one. Looking good.
Damn, racing sims are going to be part of my monthly budget in 2012!

  • gt3rsr

  • Richard Hessels

Looks very, very promising, but if development goes at the same pace as nKpro,

i would not start shouting hallelujah before i’m actually did my first lap.
To get enough done at this quality level, at reasonably speed they need a quite a big development team.

I guess it’s the end for further nKpro development than.

    • M C

Hence why the last patch was called
      1.3 FINAL

    • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

Maybe nKp and FVA sales were enough to hire a good team ?

Or he’s been at it for a while, compiling all the technology he developed these last 15 years, making friends with the constructors (Ferrari and a few others) ?

Kunos is a discrete man who doesn’t care for anything else than the technology, I’d say let’s give him some credit 😉

  • Guilherme Cramer

This sounds excellent, this is the sim I will be watching closely and hoping for better development than nK Pro, which now it seems will stop receiving support.

    • M C

They still need sales, so the sim’ will be supported, it’s just funds will be directed towards AC (everything from the beginning of this month apparently).

  • Davor Mirkovic

I truly hope rFactor 2 will excel in many other areas, as graphics wise it already looks outdated compared with other upcoming sims.

    • General Rush Hour

I doubt it will considering what Kunoz and iRacing has accomplished.

And now Rfactor will even demand monthly payment or yearly so same same but different.

  • http://www.facebook.com/m4rr5 Marcel Offermans

Not to be negative, but how do you laser scan historic tracks? At least a bit of explanation is in order because the best you can obviously do is scan the track now and hope it has not changed over the years.

    • General Rush Hour

You go back in time and scan it obviously…

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=645597761 Sam Binfield

        Duh…

      • http://twitter.com/larsbargmann Lars Bargmann

        Start by scanning a DeLorean…
        Easy from there…

      • rui silva

        ahahahaha

    • Anonymous

Yeah, I wonder if another sim will ever go 100% laser scanned to match iRacing.

      • M C

        Err… FVA?

      • Anonymous

I guess I should rephrase and wonder how expansive the next large sim with 100% laser scanned tracks will be. Three tracks in FVA isn’t particularly a lot of work, I’m wondering who else (if anyone) will tackle dozens of scanned tracks like iRacing.

      • M C

The next one funded by a billionaire 😀 The 3 tracks in FVA were self-funded by Kunos (but obviously Ferrari paid for the overall product).  From such a small company AC probably won’t have loads of scanned tracks, but the ones they do have (like Imola) should be amazing.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WC76SPODOMRNL3QTA4T5NMDVRI Dude

other than the fantasy tracks GT5 is all laser scanned, even nordschliefe. as far as I know it’s the only sim to laser scan nordschliefe

      • Anonymous

Link??? I’m nearly certain GT5 did not laser scan their tracks.

Why the end of the world is in December 2012? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? That is not fair!

Hehe it’s not.  Just the end of the Mayan calender which resets every 5000 years.  Only the daft think it’s armageddon 🙂

But just in case… better get as much sim time in as you can.

don’t be dumb the Mayas never said it was the end of the world, they said it was the end of an era and the begging of a new era you idiot tv dumped down freak.

      • rui silva

but the Mayans were right,  just take a look … this year 2011 ends and all the sims, were +/- the same, 2012 comes to be and ALL new sims come into play, so the Mayans were correct ” 2012 a new era ” ^^ *.* hehehehe

      • Anonymous

wtf is wrong with you man?! LOL! I was sarcastic like never in my life! Ofcourse I don’t think it is gonna be end of the world. 🙂 Listen, so many new, and I truly hope so groundbraking driving sims will be available in 2012 that nobody have enough free time to enjoy them all properly. My wife is pregnant so from the end of the March I’ll have less free time in the worst possible moment, when rF2, pCARS, GTR2 and AC will be smiling rght in front of my face saying we are so f*cking good, try us nowwww!”. Daaamn.

Now you understand why I was sarcastic? 🙂

        cheers

It’s definitely gonna be a bumper year for racers.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=645597761 Sam Binfield

If this comes to pass then as far as I’m concerned it will trump all of the titles currently on the market, and in 2012 too. That said I’m reasonably skeptical, this does seem a little too good to be true. Definatly something to keep an eye on though :).

    • Anonymous

Really; this is a very Bold and ARROGANT statement….!

I do not see it this way at all… FVA or NKpro2 (yes, I own both) come close to trumping the old rFactor or GTR2.

I think this will be a very good siSimame… that will always be under funded and short on content just as the previous two were and still are tdtoday Content also makes the game.

However, as I said else where… I have room for them all… welcome them all and will buy them all!  Still will be less than the cost of a really great video card which will be required to enjoy them…LOL

So I say KudoKudosall developers!  I will buy each product as released!

      • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

Take it easy, fella, there’s nothing arrogant in his statement…

I’m all in favour of killing all the trolls, but let’s not make this a religeous war !

      • Anonymous

OK, maybe arrogant was a poor choice for word… but what I mean is how can Sam state this game will TRUMP all others… this is a Bold Statement… so Sam I ask again, How can you make such a statement.

BTW… I never even thought Troll Sam…. not my intention.  I stated that this was a vague statement… so please Sam explain why this game will trump all others.

      • http://www.facebook.com/kris.baxter2 Kris Baxter

did you not see his reply? He already answered, it has all the best bits from other sims in one package, that is why, if it can be done, it will trump. And I agree with Sam, but having heard bold promises from people before, not just Kunos, then until it arrives or is closer to release, I won’t be getting giddy like a school girl either.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=645597761 Sam Binfield

No hard feelings mate, tone never comes across particuarly well on the internet 🙂 . As far as trumping other games there is a big IF regarding that. I am skeptical at best about Kunos ability to pull this off, but good luck to him all the same.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WC76SPODOMRNL3QTA4T5NMDVRI Dude

it’s not a bold statement at all. I guess it depends what your tastes are but I like to hope that sim racers car most about realism & gameplay, and IMO netkar has already trumped its competitors with it’s best of class physics & FFB. sure each of it’s competitor’s do somethings better but my point is that the other things aren’t as important as gameplay, you’re going to be driving 99% of the time so why not consider physics & FFB feel the most important factor? especially since AC intends to bridge the gap between NK pro and it’s competitor’s, I think it’s a bold statement to think it won’t trump the entire genre

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=645597761 Sam Binfield

I’m sorry but could you clarify were I have been
arrogant. At the risk of starting an argument I have no intention to continue I
must question whether the simple fact that my opinion differs with yours
justifies your judgement of me. Kunos has announced a feature list encompassing
all of his competitors USP’s. C.A.R.S. pushes graphics, rF2 pushes AI and
modding, Netkar pushes FFB and physics (tire model) and iRacing pushes laser
scanned tracks. Therefore if the final sim included all of these features it would
surpass all of the other sims in my opinion. However, I am sceptical about the feasibility
of this project, with regards to Netkar’s somewhat haphazard development cycle.

If I can’t express a simple opinion without trolling being mentioned then perhaps I should post elsewhere. Note the words “as far as I am concerned”.

      • Anonymous

If it doesn’t have a safety system to keep out the loonies and scheduled races that run all week that people can prepare for, it hasn’t trumped iRacing. It doesn’t need laser scanned tracks for that, though it is a benefit. I would love to see competition for iRacing on that front, someone else with an organized racing structure so they can push each other to improve.

That said, the game hasn’t done anything better than another sim, it’s just a powerpoint presentation right now…

      • M C

Run all week?  The Radical series only runs on weekends, with hardly any people.  The safety system is also incredibly flawed in iR.  If AC has a safety system it will actually put me off.

      • Anonymous

True. Either way, it’s the fact that you know the schedule in advance and most people get a good amount of practice in ahead of time. I much prefer that to the standard pickup racing where nobody (except perhaps the host) has run more than a dozen laps in preparation.

As far as rating by safety, more options are good for everyone. Having alternatives to iRacing is a good thing.

      • M C

Well that’s what league racing is there for =) No doubt the nKPro leagues will continue with AC & hopefully some new ones will run the sim’.

      • Anonymous

I like to race sometimes in between league races. One race a week, same time every time doesn’t always scratch the itch.

      • M C

You have practice races in the run-up to an event.  Personally I prefer them because people take more risks (& therefore are generally more fun), the actual league events can be a bit after you, no after you 😉

      • Anonymous

See, I like the iRacing system because a lot of the time I need schedule flexibility, I can’t always be on when the league is.

      • Luke Russell

The iRacing safety system is crude but it does the job. I hope AC have both an official series’ with safety rating and a bumper car quick join session for the kiddies.

  • http://www.facebook.com/charlessami.amyouni Charles Sami Amyouni

Speechless… next year will be the ride of a lifetime!

  • Matt Orr

    This could be the one.

This makes me not give a darn about rFactor 2 – though I’ll certainly buy it, I mean ISI is puny and deserves my money for what they’ve done, just the same as the other small groups comprising our segment of choice.

I mean, nKP had huge potential that just was never fully realized due to a iffy launch that spoiled it for good despite it being solid (and quite possibly the best out there) in it’s core. Oh, and the rather one dimensional car selection on launch. Yes, much of it is fixed now, but it did an unmeasurable amount of harm to that title IMHO.

Now imagine a fresh start with an improved product and moddability being a mover in it, rather than something very few could / did make work. Sign me up.

    • Guilherme Cramer

The lack of content, bugs and the fact Kunos disappeared off the face of the earth for a while, then showed some stuff about bikes. That makes people lose confidence and though Kunos released a bunch of awesome things a lot of damage was done.

      • M C

Kunos didn’t disappear, he went to work for a company.  There still were nKPro powered releases during that time, such as the Singtel sim’, & the Marangoni driving simulator which’s where the Osella & Trento-Bondone came from.  You have to realise nKPro makes a loss, & it’s all these side projects (like the Trofeo Abarth 500 & FVA) which keeps the company alive.

rFactor 2 will fail so damn hard with pCARS, GTR3 and Assetto Corsa in the pipeline.

    • Borut Verbancic

what is the taste of Mulled wine?

      • badracer

It looks very nice at all. But as it is off-screen record, the camera effect supports the appearance. But I doubt, that rFactor 2 will look on top for very long when the other three sims are on the market, even if the physics are superb.

      • Borut Verbancic

Maybe, probably, what is graphic concern. But only good graphic don’t make enjoyable game. Rfactor 2 has really some innovative features, that will put hole experience at higher level. If developer will be repair old mistakes(problem), then i really don’t see at any point that rfactor 2 can fail.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WC76SPODOMRNL3QTA4T5NMDVRI Dude

GTR3? based on GTR2 I find it strange you would say that. Sure, CARS is shaping up to be far better than rfactor 1 & netkar is leaps and beyonds beyond both but IMO GTR2 was below rfactor IMO and I haven’t seen anything to indicate GTR3 will make bigger improvements than rf2 intends to. we’ll see but I doubt rf2 will get left in the dust by gtr3, I just don’t think simbin can reach that level of realism

  • rafael_design

And the Arcade Awards goes to….CODEMASTERS!!!

  • Ricoo

The description looks like the ultimate dreamed sim.

Maybe it would just lack a safety rating system. lol

Kunos is aiming very high with such a title.

It may become very big indeed.

Project CARS, GTR 3, rFactor 2, Assetto Corsa, The Ayrton Senna Game, SimRaceWay, Test drive Ferrari by SMS, and why not LFS S3 (maybe I’m a bit optimistic on this one)… all in 2012.

    2012 is THE year.

How about a dirt racing sim?

    • Matt Orr

Because tires on asphalt are hard enough to do accurately. Then you have to do tires AND surface.

RBR was fairly crude, even as awesome as it is.

Anyone know if Stefano is still working alone or how many people are working for Kunos Sims? Seems insanely ambitious for one person.

if we could get all the time spent on making “throw back F1 cars” in every title back and put it toward a new dirt racing sim, it would be done already…..please someone get going on it……

Folks would pay a 100$ if the dirt SIMULATION racing was the main focus…..for sure….there already spending 59.99 on dirt 3 arcade games.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WC76SPODOMRNL3QTA4T5NMDVRI Dude

good point but I’m pretty much positive nobody wants to make a new dirt simulation because they know how hard it will be to top richard burns rally’s realism. what I would like is to just see RBR re-released with updated graphics, sounds, UI, & more tracks/cars, and hillclimb cars. If anybody could top RBR, Kunos maybe the one to do it.
