WSGT 2 – New Renault Megane Previews

Team RMT has released plenty of previews of their WSGT2 Megane Trophy mod that is heading for rFactor 2.

Powered Renault Sport Technologies, the Megane Trophy is a spec series using tubeframe race cars powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine that puts out 360hp. The cars weigh little over 1000 kilos and feature advanced racing technologies such as a paddle-shifting system, double wishbone suspension and adjustable dampers.

Successor to World Super GT for GTR 2, World Super GT 2 will bring some of of the most legendary GT cars of the 90s as well as Super GT GT500 class machinery to rFactor 2 and/or Assetto Corsa.

looking nice! only two suggestions: IMO headlights are overdone (they look like painted/faked), ambient shadows in the wheels are excesive too, glass shader (windshield) needs more reflection with fresnel

  • Dani .

Again Rf2. A very good car model and extrange colour palette wich looks cartoonish.
( I think the headlights are like painted because RF2 shadders, palette, shadows or whatever… they can’t look ok with that and i asume model in 3D Max looks perfect as some renders of this group shows)

Brilliant work, headlights are clearly not “painted” but 3D modeled, these cars are tubeframes as it says, most lightly windows are not real class but plexi, hence less reflection ?
Keep it up, way better than ISI’s :D

I first noticed those head lights also and yes they look a bit like painted. But overall looking really top quality..

Just so you know. , this is basically just the model ingame. Windows, headlights, specular maps, Shading maps, and so on, are not of any importance at this stage. Screenshots are taken performing a packaging/ and online test.
The looks are not the main worry, because the graphical part of rF2 seems to change build by build. So the bling will be for later. Next up, inner window, chassis details, and a slightly revised shading system.

So for now, these are just what they are .. rough snapshots of what we are doing..

I wouldn’t say way better but it’s good. I just hope the car behaves as good as ISI’s as I think the Megane in rF2 is probably the most underrated car. It’s a blast to drive but the sounds are spoiling the party. So there is a good chance for this cat to live up if they get all right.

Even at this stage the in game shots look awesome. The thought that it could get better with rF2 maturing graphic engine, or in AC just mindblowing. Congrats to RMT

ISI’s also look totally flat like they didn’t bake shading onto the texture at all. And yeah, I didn’t even care to mention the audio, it’s awfull…

could we expect a port for AC? it would be amazing with AC superior graphic engine.

as said before, all decisions in RMT have to be made by the four of us,

And we all already decided to go Assetto Corsa a long while ago.

But as it is not a released platform yet, we do not want to dissapoint rF2 fans.

    Thanks for rF2 support. :)

  • Dani .

For now to make your models look ok in RF2, you have to downgrade your nice graphic work?

cool TY for the answer… AC will be even more amazing with these top notch mods!

  • Pablo Coronel

Impresive, it looks better than the stock rf2 content.

Awesome Awesome Awesome! WSGT2 will be The Mod.

  • Richard Hessels

Textures are not yet optimized and the shaders not inplace.
The texture with reflections on it at the headlights is just a placeholder.
When rF2 is finished you can use your own high dynamic colour profiles to make the colours look the way you want.

  • Dani .

I think it not will be like that… HDR normally in some games only changes colourspace, in most games it only crushes blacks or washes whites with HDR on, its a very bad option to use it if the game looks ok., its a cheap fake option, It doesnt add “real colour”, instead, fake blacks are viewed, more like a cool, but estrange post effect, for some games its ok, but car racing doesnt need profiles. The matter of colour is in modders/designers.
To the colour since PCs are all RGB full colourspace, its a matter of desing, maybe i am wrong but i don’t think i can use in the future an olddies sepia colour to RF2. Some dll inyector will chage this but profiles in HDR… i dont think they will be the solution.
RF2 has a very bad colour implementation, maybe because HDR.
