WRC 3 – New Details, Packshots & Previews

Some new details regarding Black Bean Games & Milestone’s World Rally Championship 3 title have surfaced as some new previews and the title’s cover art has been revealed.

Two new previews show what looks to be the rally Monte Carlo stage with both the Citroen and Ford in action on it.

The game comes with specially designed covers for several national markets as German buyers will find the VW Polo R on the cover while French buyers have the Citroen DS3 WRC and British users can enjoy the Mini WRC.

The title will come with three main game modes, including the main career mode which will feature RPG elements, the WRC Experience which will allow players to follow the footsteps of over 50 legendary WRC drivers as well as WRC Online that will allow multiplayer action in various modes.

WRC 3 will be released on October 12th, coming to the PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and the PS Vita.

I can imagine the first impression from most people will be ‘meh’ to this but I had my first hands-on today with a wheel and it’s a radical improvement and a lot of fun, as ever…more soon.

*AHEM* So, we get a German car for our cover, do we? :p

I will probably buy it this year. They improved the visuals a lot, the tracks are much tighter and the overall impression looks nice (handling included). So Black Bean will get my money for this game since Dirt is too arcadish for me and this game seems to be a very nice middle way.

Aside from the other problems this title had, the major issue I found was that it only supported a single controller. For me it meant having to reconnect my pedals to my wheel and disconnect my button box. Given the way I set up my controllers it was simply unfeasible and required rerouting cables all over the place. So the question is: does the new version support more than one controller?

Good to know that it’s improving Alan. There’s a huge gap in the market for a decent rally sim. Dirt 3 was actually very entertaining, but stopped well short of what most of us would like to see – a true RBR successor.

Really nice to hear that, honestly I had no expectations whatsover so it could be nice surprise.

Excellent news Alan – hope to see a video on the VVV YouTube channel and a write up on the VVV Automotive website at some point too.

That’s great to hear. But is it more RBR or Dirt 3? Because Dirt 3 felt great with a wheel, but it was still very unrealistic.
    I’m hoping more RBR…

Come on. Radical improvement – the preview video was hurting my eyes. The car was glued on to the surface. Suspension was not noticeable.

  • Big Ron

It´s not a hardcore simulation but seems to be a nice middle way. And it also seems to be more challenging than Dirt 3.

Will there at least be a USA release this time?
