World Super GT 2 – Renault Megane Nordschleife On-Board

Following the much-discussed Honda NSX on-board video released two days ago, Team RMT’s Arnold Wong has released a new video, showing a Nordschleife lap in the team’s Renault Megane Trophy car that will be used both in the World Super GT 2 mod for rFactor 2 and in the Megane Trophy mod for rFactor.

The video shows pre-release physics made with official Renault Megane data featuring true to life suspension geometry, sounds effects aren’t final and include louder brake noise for testing purposes.

Powered Renault Sport Technologies, the Megane Trophy is a spec series using tubeframe race cars powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine that puts out 360hp. The cars weigh little over 1000 kilos and feature advanced racing technologies such as a paddle-shifting system, double wishbone suspension and adjustable dampers.

Successor to World Super GT for GTR 2, World Super GT 2 will bring some of of the most legendary GT cars of the 90s as well as Super GT GT500 class machinery to rFactor 2. Aside from being included in the team’s World Super GT 2 mod for rFactor 2, the Renault Megane Trophy is also planned to be released as standalone mod for rFactor.

Hang on a minute, it sounds like the transmission whine is actually tied to the transmission! How have you done that lol? Could it be time to remove the canned fluttering on the samples? =-O

Also, rFactor so badly needs a separate rev limiter sample.

  • Husky42

Very nice so far, keep it up guys!

  • jonelsorel

Great progress! What version of Nordschelife is this? It looks amazing.

  • Husky42

    Evo

  • Frikadelli Racing

Great, a video showing pre-release physics and non-final sounds…. **facepalm**

  • Deano

Wow the Trolls are starting early.

  • Husky42

    Wide Indian Pussy?

    lol sorry…

  • BSR-WiX

thats not a real smart reply Friladelli.  do some research. you will find out that changing the physics has a per found effect on the sound. so as long as you keep changing the physics, the sound has to wait to be finalised. at this stage , sound sculpting is more about samples and ideas. Thinlane will only be able to generate final soundsets , when we keep our hands of the main physic files.
The gearbox fo instance is a big part of the sound structure.  so you have to understand that the two change hand in hand.

  • BSR-WiX

lets hope rF2 brings us a nice new sound engine.

  • BSR-WiX

i think its about time we should explain the words Alpha and Beta as part of a development stage.
Modding is done in parts. when you do the wheels, you dont worry about the headlights. when you do the physics, you dont worry about the sound…. and so on    get the idea?
Amazing how so much forum users seem so intelligent when it comes to nuclear technology, Quantum physics, and just about everything you throw in here, but for some reason dont seem to grasp what goes in to building a multicar mod.      i wonder how many in here dont have a cleu wat the letters WIP stand for.
Previews are just here for those who like watching the progress, nothing more.  I for one am one of those people. i like watching the progress of mods , even if they are in a very early state. thats what makes are hobby so much fun.

Think…  when a beautiful girl shows you her breasts, do you reply whit the remark, that her eye lashes are to long ?   lol

amazing .   keep em coming, i start to enjoy the funny parts. every new troll remark makes me feel smarter. :)

  • dknine

driving, cockpit and sounds all fantastic !
can’t wait to get my hands on this. 8-)

  • Dave

Id like to see some more .Any chance of some out shots as well and maybe a couple of renders in high resolution for desktop screens.
My only fear is that modders of quality like yourselfs will get employed by games companies and we the joe soaps on the net will loose out.
Actually thats a lie i hope that ye all make money and lots of it from doing the stuff ye love but hope that ye can still come back and visit us in years to come if ye go that way.
Not sure that in any previous game or any coming out soon has the attention to detail that these models have .
    :)

  • Arnold-Carter Kingpong Wong

no worries, because I have signed by a famous sim company as their external art consultant for few months already, so I will only work for them, study at school and do the mod stuffs in the coming year. :-P

  • Arnold-Carter Kingpong Wong

You know, hobby, passion and school are the priority.

  • Mojo66

Previews aren’t necessarily only for those who like watching the progress. It could also be a good way to gather external opinions about a WIP. Ten eyes see more than two eyes. As some may or may not know, I have been modding some stuff in the past, and while positive feedback is important and always welcome, as a perfectionist, the criticism is almost equally important.

In the present video, one thing that caught my eye was the instrument reflections suggest that the car is a convertible, which it isn’t, I suppose.

  • Dave

    Congratulations
Wish you the best of luck and the same to other members involved in the team and the same goes to other teams and individual modders.
People may moan at times myself included but for most of us id imagine its trying to push for the best that can be done.
Would love to see a render of that Honda on the real Mother but i dont know if thats possible
See happy for you and still looking for more :)

  • JGoenR

    Looks great.

  • BSR-WiX

you are correct about the reflextion Mojo. but its just a placeholder. the motec is not implemented yet, so the screen has no purpose at the moment.

  • the RING

Is there a link available to this version of the track?

  • stabiz

That looks (and sounds) pretty damn good. Are the skid sounds supposed to be that loud, though?

  • Arnold-Carter Kingpong Wong

    It is for testing only.

  • Gpfan

“thats not a real smart reply Friladelli.” …… Some times i wonder…….

  • Art-J

I seem to recall that question was already answered in the previous clip comments – they’re that loud for testing purposes only. If I’m wrong, Arnold will correct me for sure.

  • SergeantBoner

Nice video bro but isnt it time to try another track? There’s plenty of them, head over to http://www.rfactorcentral.com and you’ll be surprised on how many you can find in almost any category!

  • XR3i TurboNutterBastard

    ah – i was gonna ask.   :D

  • XR3i TurboNutterBastard

Great, a comment featuring pre-release physics and non-final sounds…. **facepalm**

  • XR3i TurboNutterBastard

    seconded

  • Firefox

They have used many other tracks in their other videos, but this time it was Nordschleife’s turn.

  • Empty

Why is the piece of French junk known as the Megane suddenly a car people get excited about post rF? Cmon, in the F1C days did you really want to drive a Megane?

Seems suddenly all we really wanted is more slow French cars. 2CV FTW?

    :-P

  • SergeantBoner

I somewhat understand your point, however my boner would actually be bigger if it where an 2CV! :D

  • F1Racer

Yeah but problem is with the 2CV, I don’t think you can post YT vids that long :)
How long would the old Deux Chevaux take to lap the Nords ?    Surely you’d measure it’s laptime with a calendar.

  • BSR-WiX

For me a World Series by Renault race is usually about 3 times as exiting as your average F1 Race.
A have been attending races for years and years.  Because my favorites are GT, LMS ,Touring and Silhouette races, in the WSR i usually look out for the the Megane Series.  Usually there is some really exiting racing going on. People are friendly, and you can just about go and stand where you want.

Lets face it. F1 is a Television sport by my standards. Everybody acts as if they own the world. Paddocs closed. Your average person drooling and feeling envy because the jet-set does have a pitlane access card.  450 euros to watch a F1 Race sitting in Section C or B just to watch the race and then head over to the traffic jam is not my idea of a good day at the races.
Give me the GT and Touring cars any day, and i am satisfied.

Dont get me wrong, i Love F1…  but at home in front of the tele with a bag of crisps and a good Fosters. :)

  • Smeg-ane

    nice cars

  • Empty

F1 is boring. If I want racing, it’s either ALMS / LMS, or I’m heading out to the short track to watch guys make left turns.

I despise oval racing. However, something about the crowd and the way it interacts…. Can’t be beat.

And BTW, there was a 2CV Mod early on with rF.
