World Super GT 2 – Megane Trophy Cockpit Preview Video

Team RMT has released a new preview video of their World Super GT 2 mod for rFactor 2, showing the recently-finished cockpit of the Renault Megane Trophy car in a race at Zolder.

Aside from being included in the team’s World Super GT 2 mod for rFactor 2, the Renault Megane Trophy is also planned to be released as standalone mod for rFactor.

Powered Renault Sport Technologies, the Megane Trophy is a spec series using tubeframe race cars powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine that puts out 360hp. The cars weigh little over 1000 kilos and feature advanced racing technologies such as a paddle-shifting system, double wishbone suspension and adjustable dampers.

Successor to World Super GT for GTR 2, World Super GT 2 will bring some of of the most legendary GT cars of the 90s as well as Super GT GT500 class machinery to rFactor 2.

  • Diromo

    Double sided windows?

  • 6e66o

    Stunning details!
Models, textures and shader are top notch.

Im sure i will crash a lot, looking at the detailed pedal set in cockpit, while driving ;)

  • GTEvo

    im speachless 8-)

  • shum94

Some preview on Salzburgring track would be nice for your mod. If com8 wanna share, that would be a nice combo.

  • Ernie

Stunning details on 3d-model and textures. Keep up the great work, RMT. 8-)

  • phil23

The car models are gr8 as ever, but the cockpits are phenominal =-O .

  • Wesley

It is just overuse on detail, they moddeled the whole pedals wich you are most likely to never ever see in game, so it is a waste to model them that perfectly. It might look good, but i dont get the point of making something look good you will never see. It is same like shaving your pubes in a nice way but never take of your underwear.

  • BSR-WiX

:)   The detail is there for a few reasons. First of all because we like doing it. Second because i use a head tracker , and it adds to the realism if everything is in place. Its off course also psychological. Knowing its there just adds to the value.

BTW… my wife does shave creatively. i do not really mind if she does or not, but its real nice knowing its clean and complete. even when i am not looking at it.   :)

  • mykem

Nice details inside an out although the engine vibration at the beginning may be a little NFS:SHIFT like.  I’ve never been in a Megane Trophy car but have stood next to a few GT2 cars in the pit and I don’t remember seeing the chassis shaking that much.

  • Arnold-Carter Kingpong Wong

Well, it’s a simulation, so we have to even simulate the actual layout in the cockpit.

  • JGoenR

    Nice video!

  • shum94

Dont you go to the shower loll ?

  • dknine

fantastic, no other words for it :) .
    sounds are great aswell.
this will be a great mod for some close racing im sure :) .

  • SergeantBoner

If that tranny-noise is in the final mod, it will be a huge boner.

  • M 40

I don´t like the windshield mod, looks to dark to the outside.

  • Carbonfibre

I’m sorry but wtf! A complaint about it being over-detailed!?
    Gotta complain about something right?

Personally, I’m using WSGT2 as a weapon to wage war on those GT5 fanboy’s who think they have the most detailed cars ever made in a proper sim. PC must reign supreme.

  • Carbonfibre

If it does, I’m just gonna replace it with Enduracers tranny samples because there is nothing better out there, until maybe rF2 comes along.

It only takes a few seconds in the .sfx file to swap it if you wish, I’ve done it to plenty of mods already, no mismatches.

  • Donbobo

What version of Zolder is that one, looks nice, where can I get it?

  • Filg Popov

It’s their version. I think it will be released with WSGT2 for rF2.

  • JGoenR

I think it’s GTL version. At least it looks like it.

  • BSR-WiX

It is indeed the GTL convert.  We have a Zolder track ( Scratch build) in progress, but that is put on hold , because of the car development.

  • RKip

Nothing short of FANTASTIC… looks and Sounds Phenomenal!  I just hope the Details don’t take us to the same outcome as the BSR Mod I never seen but in videos.  I’m just saying, details are great, but it also takes time… time which the BSR Mod never survied….except for those close to it.  I remember watching it for almost two years and asking about it and complementing you guys until it disappeared.

Great work so far, hope it comes to completion 8-)

  • BSR-WiX

Correct RKip :  but there was a reason for it.
The mod was finished . Back in those days i was just about to learn how to be part of a modding team. the mod was not stand alone. a few cars belonged to 3e party moddelers . they did give permission, but one decided to release the car standalone before i could release the Belcar. i asked him not to, because i did not want it to become a mear skin set. I also met BorekS at that time and started helping him with the Marcos. A short while after i started working with Arnold. Once you start a scratch build mod , you can never go back to anything less then that. Bij that time the mod was ready but i started to have my doubts about a release. The quality was not the same for all cars. The sounds where made up by different people who gave permission and then revoked it , and then found it ok again. Stuff like that.  All in all the BSR mod has been a good thing for me. It learned me everything i know about textures, and i met very intersting mod scene people in the process. So it was a good thing. as with the rFactor WSGT1 convert , i went to look for someone who might have been intersted in finishing the project.  Lots stept up, but reality was they only wanted the scratch cars for their own compilation mods. So the mod has been of use for the BSR team, but never for the public.
As for now , the BSR team does not even exist anymore. The only thing i kept was the name.
half way the BSR mod, i met Arnold … the WSGT1, and the rest is history.
I do appreciate all the nice comments you gave me. . Thanks

  • f0xx

wesley, so I’m guessing your cleaning method is to hide all the dust underneath the furniture? lol

Its always good to drive when you know everything is in its place, all ads to a better racing atmosphere and thats good ;)

  • Wesley

Yes that is true, but in the middle of the race you are not going to think ‘wow, i am going to take a look at the steering wheel, it is so beautiful’ Actually, when I correctly ocus on a game i dont think at all, it is brain on zero and all io see is the path i need to follow, nothing else. Sometimes i use an trackside object to point my braking, but thats all.
I can understand the atmosphere, but it could simply be done with a bit less detail, you could use just simple textures, you wont even notice.
rFactor has the trees in 2D(iic lol), but are you going to think when in the middle of a race; ‘OMG that tree is 2D and not 3D, total enviroment destruction, this game sucks’
I can understand that it adds enviroment and it is fun ot model(Actually i do it myself too, though it isnt anythig ment for in-game), but in the games of view it simply just gives an slight performance drop from things you dont really mind. I guess such detail would be optional?

  • BSR-WiX

I understand what you mean Wesley, but i do not agree. Progress is the word that counts. Its a part of what modding is. If we would drop everything that has no significant immediate use, then there would be now point in having new sim and race stuff. we should all be doing GPL . it had all we needed. good physics, and you could see your opponent.  Looks and details count , useful or not. We could start summing up hundreds of examples….  but hey , that would be useless.

  • BSR-WiX

I guess the mod scene will always stay the mod scene…

Apparently our friend BettesP uses the WSGT2 Megane Trophy renders by RacingRenders to promote his re-release of the Megane Trophy mod he allready released in March.

    Do i smell a scam….

    Shame on BettesP and Simcompany.

  • Turkey

This is the kind of detail that modders should strive for…

  • Turkey

    even the game companies…

  • RKip

OK, that helps me understand the issues…!  I just thought it was never finished cause it grew to large.  Anyway, I loved and still Love the Marcos, so thanks again…. ;)

I’m looking forward to this mod and it looks fantastic.  Thanks for taking time to explain, I know you did not have to.
    RKip

  • RKip

I liked it, and I thought the pedals were awesome…. especially the worn brake pedal!

  • Pau

It took guys like you Wix and team to bring GPL where its at. Just observe the difference if you will from past to present,

    old

    new
    another one

Hagard made these screens, hope he’s ok with me posting :P

  • marc1111

Beautiful racing car.  I am a littlle surprised that people have so many comments/complaints about all of the detail.  All of the iRacing cars have this level of detail and more in the cockpit, engine bay, suspension, etc.  If the iRacing cars didn’t have that detail, then people would complain.  Once the standard is set, people will not accept anything less – it is great that this modder is apparently setting a new standard here.

I have never tried rFactor, but I can’t wait for rF2 if this is an example of the cars that will be in it. :)
