Team RMT has revealed the final car to join their World Super GT 2 mod for rFactor as the 2009 Renault Megane Cup Car will be both a bonus car as well as the mod’s pace car.
Since WSGT 2 is following no real world series and will be mixing 90s GT machinery with current Super GT entries, the team has chosen to opt for a fictional car as the mod’s pace car. Powered by a V6 engine putting out more than 300hp, the car was modelled by Arnold Wong in just five days. As usual with first previews of RMT cars, the car does not sport a template or detail textures yet.
Successor to World Super GT for GTR 2, World Super GT 2 will bring some of of the most legendary GT cars of the 90s as well as Super GT GT500 class machinery to rFactor 2.

wonder what the poly count is
what cubemap are you running in those screenshots the reflections look amazing.

The cubemaps are RMT custom made. about 35 cars on track at 1920*1200 using a AMD X4-940 and a nVidia G285GTX produced between 120fps and 240 fps. no optimization and rather bad shadows. so we where very pleased with the polycount/framerate.
We can take in account that by the time we release the average PC will even be a little faster. however, the overall test to set the mark will be all cars on our own high detail zolder track. fingers crossed, but i am sure we can pull it of without losing any detail.
At the moment work is progressing on the Lexus, and you can expect the Megane to wear some clothes by the end of next week.

I know, fictional was meant as in “fictional to use it as a pace car”
Unless some real series really uses a Megane Cup car as pace car

I hate myself for my nongood english now bcs I cannot say how much excellent this Megane looks. Especially “ass” looks maybe better than woman’s
Spectacullar work and sense for bodycar’s design (not talking about made in 5 days). I love design of Audi R8GT, Nissan GT-R or DBR9, but this widebody Megane rocks alot
EDIT
Oh I see. Then my admiration for cars design go to original designer and rest of my admiration goes to Arnold Wong for wery well done model in so short time. I kknow one-car mod which is in progress abour 1/5 year ;O)

Arnold you’re very fast with 3Ds, please give us some others cars!!
rF2 will be released on 2010, so you have a lot of time! Anyway great work, as usual.
What? final car? nooo

There’s more to modding than only the 3d models you know.
The plan is to completely finish off the current cars (including physics, sounds texutes etc). When these are done we can start thinking of new cars.
We have some behind the scenes works in progress but these will come after WSGT2.

I would say this is the final car(except the new R35 model, well, it will be done after few days) before we have done the Zolder track and the cockpits. Actually I would like to build the Mazda Furai
, but not now.

ehehe yes, i know very well what it means “do a mod from scratch”, i was jocking
Personally i think do physics is the side who take most of time, specially searching real specs/data/ about car and about tires.
Good luck for your project, i hope all sides of mod will be great like as graphic!

We’ve been able to gather quite alot of data, that’s not a problem. We’ll be looking for an experienced physics guy soon though.

Great job on this model! (as always)

May i bring a suggestion to the table? Maybe for an upcoming WSGT3, TVR Cerbera Speed 12 would be a wonderfull car. It never had the opportunity to shine in real racing.
Nice Megane by the way
