Team RMT has released new previews of their World Super GT 2 mod project for rFactor 2, showing us the Ferrari F40 GTE on track. Originally planned as an additional car for the rFactor version of World Super GT, the F40 will now be making its way into WSGT 2.
As usual, the car only sports basic textures for its first run, looking pretty gorgeous already though. Aside from the Nissan R35 and the mod’s safety car, the team is done modelling all the cars in a pretty rapid pace.
Successor to World Super GT for GTR 2, World Super GT 2 will bring some of of the most legendary GT cars of the 90s as well as Super GT GT500 class machinery to rFactor 2.

I am pretty sure everyone should buy rF2. Whether they spend all their time in iRacing, NR2003, LFS, or whatever else, I think rF2 will bring something special to sim racing.
For example, even most people who believe iRacing is superior to rF still usually agree that rF is still a pretty good sim. I think this is pretty inpressive given the fact that rFactor came out in 2005.
In the past four years modders like RMT have pushed the limits of rFactor in many directions and I would have a hard time believing that ISI hasn’t learned a lot. I can’t wait to see what we get from them next.

Just a little additional info on this F40, it’s a new model which is different to the one planned for WSGT1, was started on Monday and finished in about 4 days. The cube map is new too.
We have also confirmed the mod will have a safetycar(It’s something has the same name as our team name, easy to guess:) from a popular single-make series yestaurday:) So that means that single-make series will be made too. The model is just started and hopefully screenshots in next weekend:P

does this mean they’re doing in game tests?
if so, is it rfactor 2?
if not, why not release it to rfactor?
thanks in advance!

No that car is running on rf1 and the mod is planned for rf2 , the rf1 version is the normal version of the mod that was released alot of months ago for gtr2

I say again, ISI and Team RMT need to work something out to get this packaged with default rF2 content. It would be a win win situation.

What I’m curious about is why RMT making a mod for a game that is at least a year or two away from release? Why not just release it for the current gmotor2 games (rfactor1 or gtr2) as they did with WSGT1. As seen in the screenshots the cars are already running in Rfactor1. Also what if Rfactor2 comes out and supports a huge polygon count compared to Rfactor 1 with a minimal performance hit on the same hardware? Wouldn’t you guys want to remodel the cars all over again to take advantage of the extra polygon weight? I don’t know it just seems pretty strange to me to make a mod when you don’t know the game engine’s limits. Either way WSGT1 was great, keep it up. :)

A small explanation:
The fact we chose rF2 as a target, is not al strange choice at all. its a target, nothing more. If we get the chance to go for an rF2 release, we will. If as some say ( and have a good point) rF2 proves to far ahead, we will surely change our plans. There is indeed no use in waiting until the models look ancient. However. look at it this way . We can release for rF1 and GTR2 whenever we want. It would not take more effort and no work would be lost anyway. So rF1 and GTR are always a good backup plan. the WSGT2 mod development will at least take up till the end of the year. so our plan is to evaluate the platform choices at that time… not now . Allot does happen in a few months.should the rF2 engine be to far of by the end of the year , we will evaluate our alternatives. The car models are almost ready. the cockpits will take up more time . then the sounds , physics ( we will put more effort in it this time ) and the track we are planning give us a workload that will take up some time yet.
PS: as for the screenshot argumentors. If you do not like to see screenshots and progress stuff. use your brain please… just dont look at them.
For the rest of you.. A big thanks for the support and the kind words.. there would be no mod scene without the people that use them.

As Wim said that above, the mod is not going to be done tmr.
Normally we won’t release the mod for rF1, GTR2 and GTRE or whatever we have at the moment, this is a common sense when seeing the progress. We still need 7-8 months or even more to complete the whole mod(12 fully detailed cockpit models, Zolder circuit, textures, skins, LODs, shadow objects, physics, sounds, menu, intro movie etc, I need at least few days to complete a full cockpit), don’t ever think that we are a very big team, we have only 6 people in the team, and all of us are doing it as an interest. Just to clarify the mod is not going to be done in a very short-time.
For the reasons we have put our WIP stuffs into rF:
1.we don’t have rF2 at the moment.
2.we need to have a game to test our stuffs, I think no one would be interested for only renders. rF has it’s official exporting tool and that does not need some meaningless extra works to port the cars ingame.
3.from what we have seen in the past, ISI sims do have similarities to their successors.
