World Rally Championship – Steering Wheel Info

Three weeks ago when the first developer video of Black Bean’s World Rally championship title was released, many of you noticed that no steering wheels could be seen in the offices of developer Milestone and all driving was done with a gamepad.

The company has reacted to that with a blog posting, explaining that the lack of steering wheels was due to the fact that the footage mainly featured game designers and 3D artists doing mostly non-physics related work.

Milestone confirms that their upcoming WRC title will support a variety of wheels from Logitech, Fanatec, Thrustmaster and others, players will also be able to set linearity and dead zone of each axis within the game. Developed by Milestone, World Rally Championship will be bringing all the action of the WRC to the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC. The game will feature all 13 rally events from the 2010 schedule and cars from the WRC, Junior WRC and the Production WRC class. World Rally Championship is planned to be released in on October 8th 2010.

    I still think this won’t be that bad of a game. Sure, it’s not gonna be the second coming of RBR, but w/e. We don’t get many rally games so we can’t complain.

    I feel the same way about the new Monster Jam game coming out. We don’t get a lot of those either, so even if it’s only passable, I’ll still play it.

    You could use a wheel in Grid.  Still doesn’t mean the physics will resemble anything close to a real car.

    That’s a saving grace for this game. It’s no RBR replacement, but it MIGHT be more realistic than Dirt 2. :)

    yeah, and you played it so you know how it feels…videos prove nothing, they even can’t show how the graphic will be because they are edited. So before I play demo or full game I just can’t say if it is good or not

    Fifteen years of racing game development and their latest creation can’t even work properly with a wheel .. My god you really “rock me”. And still i have some hopes for this one .. something must be wrong with me …

    It took them a long time, but at least they show improvements game after game. Reading that steering wheel will finally have linear response too is what I’ve been waiting for for ages. I hoped to see it in SBK X too, it would have helped a lot in controlling the bike!

    @Trebor901 where exactly do Milestone or there like listen to the users of their products(i include sinbin in this some have no forums and the ones that do never have the developers on them to at least explain why they did stuff in a certain way (whuile i or others might agree with what they did or do an explaination would at least give a reason for it,Irvin Zonca  comment on the blog is much the same as codemasters saying that gamepad and keyboard support is just as important,however the problem i have with that is they seem to tune the physics for those users and then add wheel support based on those physics,i would have though it would be the other way around,physics tune wheel and when u have got that feeling and woring right you then tune the controls for the gamepad and keyboard users.
