World Rally Championship – Seven New Previews

Black Bean Games has released seven new preview shots of their World Rally Championship title for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

The shots show the Citroen C4 WRC and several Ford Focus RS on snow and other conditions, including a look at the title’s HUD interface.

Developed by Milestone, World Rally Championship will be bringing all the action of the WRC to the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC. The game will feature all 13 rally events from the 2010 schedule and cars from the WRC, Junior WRC and the Production WRC class. World Rally Championship is planned to be released in on October 8th 2010.

Well, it’s all motion blurry  :)
I don’t know what else to say.

  • Oggy

did the math on the screenshot with the hud. Stage takes three minutes to complete. So much for iOpener LMAO

  • Firefox

Looks like this one won’t be much to hope for.
Stages are very wide, even more than the old Sega Rally game from the 90′s.

  • Ernie

Looks good. Nothing more to say for now.

  • Rickard Olsson

To me the graphics looks good.. It all depends on the psysics on the car. I know the talk is always about the handling and so on.. But I can´t really enjoy a rally-game when the cars feels like it´s on soap on a dry tarmac-stage. =P But if the handling is somewhat like Dirt2 which I really liked, I will buy this !! :)

  • Hara_Kiri

Apparenlty, there’s a game screenshot behind that blur.
Will you be able to see it?

  • 6e66o

So instead of snowbanks we get tirewalls and fences?
Yeah, they really captured the essence of Rally Sweden… :(

RBR Stages are so much better!

  • Ryan

What I want in a rally game are physics, physics, physics.  Let it look like Network Q Rally from ’96, I wouldn’t care.  As long as it feels good.  The videos I’ve seen made the car look like its pivoting around a point in the middle of the car.  That didn’t make me feel good, but I’ll reserve judgement until the final product.  What I’d like to see are stages that are about 1/3 as wide!!  Like RBR, but without the traps on the edge of the road like rocks, stumps, etc…

  • Harpo245

    Looks good :)

  • doggod

6e66o stunning drive on rbr :)

  • Gulyo

Looks crappy like in 1990 or sometinhg like that … thats must be joke

  • 6e66o

Made a couple of mistakes, but thanks.

The point is, we dont need artificial fences or tirewalls to stay on the road.

  • Philip Oakley

If we;’re able to mod the game when it comes out, I’m sure modders can make it much better than it looks now :) Hopefully we can mod the physics too :)

  • Jos

if graphics are no issue then RBR is all you need.

  • Huh

what makes me lolz, is when people like you, think that bedroom modders, can do a better job on rally physics than a big gaming comp like blackbean, lol what a comment

  • RedSun

See this video? ridiculous arcade. Minute 24:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjsHU3_2ejA

  • Firefox

They can and have done in some cases.
Also calling them bedroom modders is very harsh, without them we wouldn’t have ANY car mods or tracks for rFactor and neither for RBR!
I’d suggest you re-think on what you just said because clearly you didn’t think before you posted that comment.

  • Art-J

If that was the case, all driving games present on the market at the moment would have the most sophisticated physics algorythms within curent generation PC limitations. Obviously, it ain’t working that way.

The problem arises when the “big gaming comp” doesn’t give a flying sh..t about decent physics model and people (modders) have to nearly force the game to switch off some built-in driving ads – last NFS being a good example.

It’s too early to judge this rally game. We’ve had what – a few screens and a few short movies with all aids turned on? Not enough info at the moment. But certain “modability” will be very welcomed inn case of any shortcomings of original product.

  • Gaiajohan

Looks a lot like CMR 2003-2005

  • Gaiajohan

Yah, it screams arcade to me too. But it may be that it’s just the game setting..

  • Gaiajohan

you;re overeaggerating as in 1990 we were still at Lombard RAC Rally:

  • doggod

“Huh” maybe you should take a look at the pages linked below to se what “bedroom modders” can and do produce, the fact is this dev produces arcade games without wheel support(so far),how they managed to get the WRC license is beyond belief, however i blame the WRC licensing body as much if not more than Blackbean ,but having said that ill give them the benefit of the doubt that they can come up with the goods this time.

If however it turns out as bad as most predict i hope as many people as possible contact the WRC licensing body and complain.Luckily a demo is supposed to be out before the game so ill give credit to blackbean for that as least.

  • Gaiajohan

And in 1993 a game was released I played pretty much:

    Than 1996 this one came:

And after this CMR 1, than Rally Championship 2000 and CMR2. Than CMR3, RBR, CMR2005, and it’s Dirt2 for now..

    BLUR RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

  • Philip Oakley

I can pretty much bet you that Black Bean have had no driver input on this game. I’m still holding out hope for this game. But every game that I’ve had except GTR Evo/RACE 07 has been better after modding.

  • TheSTIG

I love it when you hit a bush/small tree head on like it was a concrete wall and the car rolls over to the side and then you just go on like nothing happened…

  • squibbly

     Tunnel Rally

Honestly, there no gravel motorways in Wales.  Nor are any used in the Wrally held here.

Easily the best stages in a rally game were on Actualize/Magnetic Fields’ Rally Championship from 2000.    But everyone bought Colin McCrae’s rubbish.   So we’re still getting rubbish that frankly does a very poor job at simulating “rallying”.

I had hopes for BlackBean – maybe they’re the remnants of Magnetic Fields, I thought.  But this game looks duff…..  Oh well.

  • Stu

‘Looks a lot like CMR 2003-2005′

If it’s ‘only’ an updated version of the above it will be great fun.

  • nickeh

RBR has real stages, the above is an excellent example of what can be done when you base your game/sim on real stages!  I’ll still be playing RBR for a few years to come I reckon :)

    Awsome driving mate!

  • Ryan

The Pace notes are garbage and the stages a bit too unforgiving.  Realistic, yes.  But sometimes brutal.  Maybe better notes would halp me avoid them though.
