Which Ring To Rule Them All?

The most anticipated feature in Simbin’s upcoming GTR Evolution simulation will without a doubt be the Nürburgring Nordschleife . Simbin’s Nordschleife will be the first professionally-produced PC version since Grand Prix Legends.
Com8, one of the creators of the rFactor Nordschleife has made some comparison shots between the community’s best Nordschleife and Simbin’s new track. With the rFactor Nordschleife also being available for RACE07 and open for conversion to GTR Evolution, players will have the choice which one to use.
Below are the comparison shots, keep in mind that the Simbin shots might be taken with lower graphic settings and/or of an unfinished version of the track. Which one do you like best?

Yeah, I definitely think the textures look better in the Com8 version. In fact, it’s not so much the textures as it is the overall colour balance and lighting.
Like every track in RACE07, the Simbin version just seems to be bathed in a really jarring yellow haze. It just makes everything seem so cartoony and fake. I much prefer the predominantly blue ambient lighting of GTR2 and rF to RACE07’s (and by the looks of things GTR:E too).
that last shot of the BMW E90 on the Simbin one just shows how innacurate it is compared to the Com8 version. The Simbin version looks rather half hearted.
That last shot is tricky, the angle is slightly different making it seem like the Simbin track doesn’t dip down when in fact it does. I think the GTR Evo version looks proffesionally done and personally I don’t like all the cutout people on the track, they just look bad.
Simbin one looks better imo, mapping, tsos etc all superior. Not much in it though.
Com8 > Simbin.
Dont matter as most of us will be suckers to take on Simbin’s Ring even if you think it sucks or not
Road textures on the Simbin one are also better, check out some pictures of the Nordschleife. A more useful comparison would include pictures of the actual track - how can you tell if one version is accurate or not without a real world benchmark.

How can it be that com8 had already GTR Evo,
That means to me that was the reason for the Crash of the RF-Nordschleife team, becaus Com8 has selled the track to SimBin….
In that case i think Com8 can enjoy the hole summer in a swimming pool . . .
@god that are screens thats been released by simbin… not screens that were taken by com8…
some real pics in the same angle for comparing should be very nice! im wondering if simbin didnt measur the nords by gps… hope they did this!
To be honest, I’d need to see these side-by-side with real photos to say which is better.
Simbin Track is way better modellingwise of course.
But rF Nordschleife clearly has mor “Life” in it
Now it´s time to combine those things
I think the pictures of the mod are made with photoshop.
rFactor dont have so nice grapics!
I will take the simbin version
Simbins textures are more realistic imho, plus the fact it’s a proper simbin track! 
I think both versions look very good, and the fact that we even discuss which is best says ALOT about COM8 and friends` effort with Nordschleife 2007.
Grimes, have you played rFactor? Maybe you tested it on old hardware in DX7 or DX8 with detail turned down. Or maybe you tested on old tracks/cars and ditched it and never came back. The pics in this post don’t look the slightest bit different from the way they look on my machine running this mod/track in rFactor.

if it wasnt for german modders, rfactor would be dead now
I don’t know which one LOOKS best, but I’m sure that SimBin’s will be waaay more accurate.

I think the rF Nordschleife looks much better than the version of Simbin!

mmmmmm i need to wait to drive on Race version..Com8/geggo textures are definetly better…those guys have done a wonderful work!!
about layout, not sure but Simbin version it seems to be a lot more accurate, but, repeat, i want to wait before write crytics
LOL we need to convert race version, and do a new rF version with Com8/geggo textures and simbin mesh
Com8’s version has great texture work. But the flaws on the track are aparent compared to simbins which was produced with cad data provided to them.
The track was build using this data which means it is most likely the most accurate representation of the track possible. I do agree I do not like the lighting but that can be changed. Now if we say a Com8 Texture plus Simbins Mesh and mapping hell yea.
And Ms. Claire. The Lonely is right. And you know what when you look at the tracks provided by him do not get me started on where you comments fall flat on their face.

Yeap, one more vote to Com8. Even if Simbin’s has got asymetricaly worn tarmac and more realistically worn out curbs(albeit unrealistically flat). Com8 has had much more dedication put into it than a simply commercial product. It’s got an artist’s soul in it

I totally agree, with work the simbin could be great. Needs better, and of course more realistic textures. (I hate the ad boards being for the game, I want the ones that are really there)
Although Com8 has i’m sure put much work into there version, the model you can see it’s dated, with far less polygons then simbins, plus i’m pretty sure simbin use gps data. So i’d say simbins all the way.
