The Nordschleife-bound VLN series seems to gain more and more popularity in the sim racing community. Following Team NLC’s acclaimed VLN 2005 mod for rFactor and their recently announced 2009 season project, another team is having a go at Germany’s most popular endurance racing series.
The German Modding Team is working on bringing the current VLN season to GTR2, below are the first previews of their mod. We get to see several Porsches, BMWs, the Audi R8 LMS, the Schall Opel Astra DTM and several other cars the series is famous for.

Looking GREAT guys, looking great. In my opinion it’s much more fun to drive current/last season than in series that were driven maybe 3-5 years ago. I feel that way both regarding Formula One, FIA GT and everything. So from my point of view, this is good news indeed!

Funny. With F1 I’d rather race old seasons. Other series it doesn’t bother me. The VLN 2009 mod could come with all made up names and I wouldn’t know otherwise.

Despite loving Evo, GTR2 keeps getting me back due to one feature.
It’s not night racing.
It’s the fact I can SAVE midrace as a safeguard against the game crashing.
GTR2, if the game crashes, I just reload my last save (save every 10 minutes or so). Evo, I’m screwed.
NO idea why they didn’t leave that in.
