VLN 2009 by GMT – Four New Previews

The German Modding Team is working on bringing the current VLN season to GTR2, adding the spectacular mix of touring and GT cars that race on the Nürburgring Nordschleife to the simulation.

After almost a year with no news, the team reports back by releasing four new previews, showing a nice mix of BMWs and Aston Martins racing on the Nordschleife.

The previews also gives us a few new glimpses at GMT’s majorly overhauled Nürburgring Nordschleife that was announced back in August 2011 and will be part of the mod.

I thought this came out earlier this year but I guess this project has been so anticipated maybe I thought the VLN mod that came out in May/June of this year was this particular one by GMT. I was wondering why that release did not get a whole lot of coverage :) Still looking forward to this big time.

I`m waiting on this killer :-) In real life I`m going evry year a lot of time to the nurburgring to see the vln races with the nordschleiffe specialist.. Sabine Schmitz.. Claudia Hurtgen.. Uwe Alzen..Partick huisman.. e.t.c. I hope it comming soon to simracing :-) Goodluck with the project!!! and best wishes to 2013!!!!!!!!!!

This makes me think that if Simbin took GTR2 and replicated its features with more modern graphics and sound, the community would be quite happy. I know a lot of folks that still race GTR2 regularly over more modern Sims because of the Day night transitions, the racing structure, rain and multiple tires compound.

Even Race 07 is simplified in respect to GTR2, with only a dry and wet tire.

The only things I would like them to add would be dynamic surface and driver swap. If they did that I am convinced GTR3 would be the #1 selling Sim of 2013 bar none.

The current VLN season is in the year 2009? Man, those Germans even have the engineering prowess to time travel efficiently!

The big killer for a plan like that is licensing: you won’t get both Ferrari and Porsche, and with the F430, 458 and 997 being a major part of most modern GT series that’s going to leave quite a hole in the grid.

It’d be great if it was possible though, something like Blancpain given the GTR treatment with the new graphics engine.

edit: that of course is assuming that your idea of ‘features’ includes the whole-series licensing!

You mean the VLNS mod ?
    http://racebytes.square7.ch/2012/05/vln-serie-1-0-release/
Dont know why the sim blogs didnt pay attention to it.
This was nearly a one man project with 86 cars from different vln seasons.

    BTW. nice looking astons !
