It seems like my hosting service thinks so, I´ve just received an e-mail explaining to me that the site creates some serious load on their system. :)
While this is something to be happy about and thankful for, it also means that the site will be transferred on another server within their system as they hope to reduce load that way. This means the site will be not available for 2-3 hours after midnight European time tonight. So if you can’t reach it later today, don’t worry – It’s not going anywhere and will be back soon!
Of course, this does not mean that you shouldn’t recommend VirtualR to your friends or share links – Let’s give the hosting service something to worry about :D

Too popular hehe. I must say I visit your site more and more, it’s just a great source of information. I always like it when you post our WSGT stuff on here, keep up the good work! :smile:

@Wix
I can only speak for myself and VirtualR but this is definitely nothing that will hurt this site in the long run.
As of now, the site runs on a rather basic hosting package, nothing like what you need for a big forum like RSC or NoGrip or whatever.
If necessary, I can switch to a powerful dedicated server with plenty of more performance. This involves quite a lot of work as you have to take care of many things like security and such. That’s why I won’t be doing that before it’s absolutely needed. :smile:

No, not at all!
Like I said above. Keep on using VirtualR and its features as you wish. Keep spreading the word and tell your friends…. I will take care of providing the needed resources.
I posted the story just for a chuckle and to inform people that there will be a downtime later :smile:

Nice Job Rob, keep it up :smile:
I have about 40 Gigs traffic each month even on my little homepage, but my hoster is still positive about it
So i guess you will have a lot more traffic here.

Since I don’t host any downloads, data-traffic is not the biggest concern. What bugs them is not the traffic but the load on the server.
The blog script and the gallery use MySQL databases and require the server to process certain stuff. Everytime a user clicks a link or writes a comment, there’s load on the server because it needs to update the database etc.
That’s what makes running big forums like RSC expensive. You have thousands of users doing stuff at the same time, putting an immense load on the server. Data traffic like from downloading sites is a lot easier to handle since it does require a minimum of processing power.

I love it when hosts realise they’re selling what they can’t provide. Keep up the good work :)
