AutoSimSport has made an impressive video of Paolo Cattani’s Virtual Grand Prix 3 simulation, showing the sim’s quite impressive AI in action, using the new Formula Fantasy 2009 addon.
Furthermore, the video includes a lap on the recently-released Circuit de Catalunya track.
Virtual Grand Prix 3 features a full field of Formula cars and five different tracks. The sim sells for reasonable 14,90€ including one year of updates, a free demo is available on the VGP3 website.

Damn, that one where the AI avoids the noob out of control player is very impressive
Didnt really like the demo when I tried it 6 months ago (other than the AI) but that formula fantasy addon looks pretty interesting.

AI looks quite good, but they still drive in two rows, if you know what I mean.
Shame the demo didn’t recognize my ThrustMaster F430. Would love to try this.

If you want to read something more about the Formula Fantasy 2009 and the new physic it will introduce have a look at the latest AutoSimSport issue, page 112: there’s a nice article there (and talks about AI too).

I didn’t like watching the AI changing sides a lot, which is completely dangerous and off rules (you can change lane only once).

The AI are quicker and smarter than some of the real life drivers ? :) Its like they are checking their mirrors all the time.
Pretty cool though and nice to see some decent AI like this as GP4 was the last one with AI like that.
I do think in some situations they back off a little too willingly though. In GP4 they made a fight of it. But.. for what it is, it ain’t bad at all.
The exact opposite of LFS in terms of AI (I know I know, LFS was made for multiplayer, but if you’re gonna have AI there, make it work).
